Sent away pregnant as a teen to 50 years later
We see someone today and make a value judgement as to whom they are without knowing what may have happened for them to be the person that we see today.
That sums me up well. In the 1960s society was rigid and unforgiving. As a young teen, I was banished, whisked out of town and hidden away in shame and secrecy pregnant. There was no emotional help, nowhere to turn and an adoption happened, no discussion being entered into. Amazingly there is a happy ending 50 years later I found and met my daughter.
Stories, not just of hardship but of whom we become because of our experiences are powerful as an example of whatever happens you can move on, and you can go on to lead a fulfilled happy life. Let's encourage and support men and women who have to courage to speak up.
