Spider-Man
VENOM WAS ORIGINALLY GOING TO BE FEMALE?
Since he first appeared in 1984, comic book fans mainly associate venom as a buff male character, primarily because his first and most well-known host was a very muscular human known as Eddie Brock.
Venom may be a male, but in reality, the character was meant to be completely different, as writer David Michelinie initially planned to make the deadly symbiote a female with a very different backstory.
According to Michelinie, the idea was for a pregnant woman to be walking down the street with her husband, and while walking, a taxi hits and kills her husband as a result of the driver being distracted by Spider-Man, who at the time is fighting a villain.
The accident was then supposed to make her go into labor, which causes her to lose the baby right there on the sidewalk, leading her to lose her mind, and gaining an immense hatred for Spider-Man.
This woman was supposed to find the extraterrestrial symbiote and become Venom, but Michelinie was urged by his editor to change the character’s backstory, as he did not believe that a woman could be a true threat to Spider-Man physically.

Dating
Dating is such an exhausting process. Now when I say dating, I don’t mean dating as in being in a relationship, but the process of trying to start a relationship. Going through the rigors of icebreakers and small talk is a real drain. The only things you’re learning about them is surface material. Those things are menial in the grand scheme of things. What anyone ever really wants is to learn the depth of the individual. Where do their morals and principles begin and end and from where do they derive? What are their passions in life and what keeps them alive? What do they believe in and what rationale or reasoning solidifies that position? What is it you really desire out of being in a relationship with someone? Are you wanting one because you feel incomplete? Is it because you’re lonely? Or perhaps you want one because you realize you have an incredible amount of love to give to someone who is ready and willing to reciprocate, if only they’d just give you a chance to prove it? In the old days, small talk wasn’t entirely understood the same way it is today. Small talk showed a genuine interest in wanting to get to know someone better because the real kicker was having the courage in the first place to make the effort at all. These days, with all the dating apps/sites out there, the substance of a person has been reduced into a conglomerate of “fast-food dating” where you just kinda flip through the menu at whim because there’s no pressure on you to put in any worthwhile effort and with the implied anonymity of any online presence, that means you also can freely ignore others and their efforts to reach out. That isn’t to say I’m not guilty of doing that very thing, but it really discourages people from extending the olive branch in efforts of possibly finding a significant other or even just a new friend. I do agree that meeting people in person in their daily going-ons is a great and probably more desired way of beginning a dialogue with someone new, but it isn’t necessarily the easiest for everyone. Online dating does have its benefits for people that have a very hard time socially whether that be due to anxiety, social awkwardness, lack of confidence, self-esteem, or any other type of social hurdle. It allows those types of people to use their words without worry of stuttering like a fool or doing anything else embarrassing out of nervousness from making first contact with someone new. I said all this to say that when I’m looking to interact with someone new for friendship or a potential relationship, I want to learn about the real you. Not the you that all your coworkers and other various acquaintances know. I want to know and understand the side of you that drives who you are as an individual. I don’t want to know what your favorite movie or book is, nor do I care that you enjoy a Friday night at home with a glass of wine and netflix. I mean, eventually I might care, if we manage to click and get along well and pursue a real relationship, but if I can’t gain a solid understanding of your true essence, all of your surface material interests are useless to me and irrelevant. I want substance.
