            florida’s   been   treating   her   well,   and   curtis’   friend   has   been   super   accommodating   --   all   things   considered.   but   even   with   all   those   brighter   days   ahead,   a   part   of   her   missed   the   merry   band   of   misfits   that   got   her   there   in   the   first   place.   “   oh,   yeah.   ”   eyebrows   raise   and   there’s   poor   suppression   of   her   own   smile,   “   raised   a   bit   of   h   -   e   -   double   l   so   i’d   have   to   come   and   see   you.   ”   duffel   bag   of   belongings   are   set   on   the   floor,   and   that   strong,   homely   temptation   to   hug   him   sets   in,   even   after   much   time   apart.   instead,   she   shrugs.   “   hope   that’s   not   a   problem.   ”

            for   once,   the   smart   -   mouth   thorn   in   his   side   has   nothing   to   say;  the   tears   that   prick   the   corners   of   her   eyes   telling   all   that   they   need   to.   she  embraces   the   offer   as   quick   as   she   does   him,   as   quick   as   her   shallowed  breathing.   amy’s   face   nestles   against   his   chest,   her   arms   clung   to   him   as   firm  as   he   holds   her   back.   it’s   easy,   then,   to   let   her   eyes   flutter   shut.   to   swallow  her   shaky   breaths,   in   a   place   where   she   feels   warm.   comforted.   at   the   start  of   all   this,   she   never   thought   she’d   use   those   two   words   to   describe   how  she  feels   with   frank   castle.   

            when   she   finally   settles,   she   sniffles.   and   to   save   face,   she   poses   to  him   a  gentle   jab,   “   did   i   need   one,   or   did   you   need   to   give   one   to   me,  huh,  tough   guy?   ”
