Hello loves,,, I made a discord server to act as an archive/gallery for my art. It has a space for sharing art/discussion/promo too but don't feel the need to chat at all!! It's mainly just an optimised way to search my art and stay up to date :]

There are also channels exclusive to bloodied buddies/Kofi members for WIPs, photography and videogame photography :]

My friends receive mysterious and (mostly) contactless messages from me, which is strange anyway because I generally just use the group chat to talk to everyone, but this time it's because I'm drawing all of them as characters in Maeia (the world I'm building) as a surprise for our next PowerPoint night :]

And I can tell you guys this here because as chronically online as some of them are, they don't go here so it's fine ^-^

Would it be okay to ask what brush you’ve been using to do those sketches (posted on Twitter) lately? Asking on here because my account is private ;;; sorry!

It's an edited version of triedkiss' bleed brush!. I don't remember my exact settings but I probably increased the jitter (both types) and increased the bleed slightly :] (by 1 - 4% usually).

Someone on tiktok wanted to buy this as a print and I told them I don't sell it bc it's a comm and it's up to the client and some bitch ass mf said 'theres not even a watermark so you don't even need AI to remove it and then print it' ....

First of all !! Yes there is dumbass.

Second of all !! Why the fuck would you remove the signature/watermark on a print???? Are you gonna get an oil painting and paint over the signature????? Artists please print your stuff with watermarks, especially if you're a convention artist!! I wanna be able to find you later if I don't have a business card from you!!

Seventh of all !! Learn how to edit watermarks out in Procreate or GIMP or your preferred pirated Adobe product like a normal human with a functioning brain!!!!!

Anyway I hope the person that replied that knows they have 3 days.

hiii lovely! tysm for responding to my ask before,, i had another question for you. how long have you been working on calligraphy for? all of your writing seems so gorgeously refined, but it looks like it also could take so much time. has it just become like normal writing for you? :D

I tried actual calligraphy (glass pens, steel nibs and inkwells) AGES AGO (like as a pre-teen) and SUCKED and never tried again. My mother makes it look so easy :')

I spent most of highschool copying my bestie's handwriting and then we went to different colleges and after a summer of not writing analog,,, it kinda just turned into doctors writing?? I write very loose and fast (less so if it's for something I'm posting so that you can actually read it). But my mother's writing is very pretty cursive (she spent her childhood copying my nani's handwriting) so maybe I just defaulted to that.

Somewhat unrelated but I saw a kid did some research and found that butterflies can inherit memories so I wonder if it's the same for us in a way.

Anyway yeah I just kinda leaned into the tiny cursive strong college because it let me fit lots of words on one page in a very short amount of time.

Recently, though, I found www.oldfonts.com which I started using for graphic design but I looooove the types on there so I've been copying some of them (I've been thinking about practicing them like proper school handwriting lessons). I VERY recently actually bought a font from there (and got one free!) and I'm so looking forward to using them in everything :DDD

I think it's just one guy who makes the fonts and runs the site and he's lovely!

There's a page where you can type text in and try out the font too, if you just want to see what it's like.

Anyway so yeah, some of my handwriting is just whatever feels natural, some of it is from practicing my best friends name over and over again, and some is yoinked from those lovely fonts (mainly the Emily Austin one rn).

Lots of people are asking so I thought I'd share,,, I don't particularly study one artist or specific style! Yes, I mainly study baroque stuff but that's just because it happens to fit with my main aesthetics but I usually do studies based on what I want to draw/paint next!

Studying specifics related to the current project helps me keep it fresh in my mind and that way I'm studying things that I'm actually gonna use :]

Also,, many contemporary oil painters are just as good (if not better) to study than old masters (plus they're actually alive so you might be able to ask them for tips or they might have courses available)
