carmilla was one of those books, actually! i got seriously into the gothic once i got into highschool, but when i was a little girl and mort was babysitting me, he’d read out of wuthering heights at bedtime, and dracula somehow made it onto our nightly reading list. i think maybe he thought it was funny? since i never knew he was like, undead, until very recently actually. he was always just dad’s friend who worked the night shift mostly.

that is kinda funny, actually lol. definitely prefer carmilla to dracula myself tbh, knew a married couple that was like carmilla and whats her name about 2 centuries back actually, really pleasant company, they sadly passed due to some conflicts i wasnt too deeply involved in but! they were lovely, and I know they passed 4 each other, u wouldve liked em, maybe i have a portrait of theirs somewhere, hmmmm
