with all the negativity tonight maybe this isn’t the best time to post this, but maybe this also highlights my point exactly. honestly this has been brewing for a while 

as you may have noticed my activity has tapered off a lot and honestly??? my motivation to do anything about that has dried up. this is due to a few main causes a) the general environment of darp, which honestly has always been bad but seems to have gotten worse b) a general feeling of being unappreciated which is unsurprising given the da fandom’s attitude towards female characters (and female hawke) and f/f, but still something i have struggled with for a very long time and have only recently given up on struggling against c) general burnout on this character d) chronic illness been bad lately, classes take all my energy and i have been in quite a bad mood quite often because of this are you deleting your blog?  no

are you ever going to come back to your blog? i may come back to answer one or two friends with friends periodically. i may come back in full sometime, as i am fickle, but i don’t foresee that anytime in the near future

are you ever going to come back to darp? maybe on another blog someday. i will post promos here on this blog

in which i consider high dragons in far too much depth, once again

i’ve quickly edited a map of dai to note where each type of dragon is

alright so this doesn’t tell us much, we gotta go more in depth.

fire dragons - hissing wastes, western approach, hinterlands, emprise du lion okay well it appears temparature doesn’t matter to fire dragons, which makes sense as they probably have a lot of self regulation with the fire. so we have 2 deserts, one snowy mountain area, and what appears to be temperate valleys/forests? idk what the hinterlands are. the only thing i can think of that might tie these together is a theory that fire dragons prefer rocky nests? both hinterlands and emprise have plenty of mountains and rocky spots (consider the area the ferelden frostback). while western arppoach and hissing wastes are a lot flatter, they both have rocky outcropping that might work. it also kinda explains their coloration, which is usually browns/reds with some greenish and fairly rough patterns. that’d blend in pretty well with rocks, yeah? though why a dragon would NEED camouflage (lighter bellies would be more useful than camouflage but w/e)

cold dragons - emerald graves, emprise du leon. so. two in a snowy mountain area and one in a dense forest/rainforest. well, they’re all in orlais. does that mean anything? they’re also all close to mountain ranges (see the frostbacks). honestly i’d just chalk this up to “cold dragons like cold, done” except that emerald graves doesn’t appear too cold. it might be a temperate rainforest, but it’s hard to tell. hesitantly: mountains and cold. this would explain the overlap of fire and cold dragons in emprise: both rocky and mountainous climates

lighting dragons - storm coast, crestwood, exalted plains water. that seems the most obvious answers. vinsomer lives on the goddamn coast, on an island. there’s a large lake in crestwood. the area you find gamoran stormrider in is the crow fens, which is filled with shallow water. how could that water be useful when theres three different kinds (ocean/lake/marsh). looking at gamoran’s fighting patterns maybe they use their lightning abilities to shock-stun water prey and then catch it? like a mix between a sea eagle and an electric eel.

im not looking at guardian of mythal because we see it called to a particular place, not necessarily its breeding area. also hakkon...... well hakkon is in the frostback basin which ties into my mountain theory but thats also a bit of a different story anyways so

honestly this is me making wildly inaccurate guesses without a background in biology about something bioware probably didn’t even consider, but, well, there you go.

  Red lyrium’s existence brought only tragedy. It twisted and took, spreading, spreading, spreading… until it consumed all that one was. When Orsino coughed, blood was mixed in with his spittle. The crystals fused to his bones and organs were stabbing into the vulnerable flesh, his skin bruising as vessels in the blood were cut. After his arms and legs became discolored, he could bear it no more, and hid himself away forever underneath layers of fabric. It was nauseating to look at, even worse to feel the crystals underneath when he rubbed his fingerpads together… or that could be just another symptom of his sickness. A fever fell upon him, his skin going pale and clammy. It never killed him, even when it felt as if it should have. As he died slowly, there was power to it. As terrible as he felt, exhaustion was not present. He ached as he walked, but something kept him moving. Living.

  Eyes looked at him with pity, but they still kept their distance. They feared the infection and Orsino didn’t blame them. He wouldn’t want to be near himself either, especially now that a few crystals began to poke out of the skin over his collarbone. The wounds didn’t bleed, but he wish they did. It would have made him feel more like a person and less like a monster. The spread of the material was a poorly concealed hint towards his rapidly approaching fate. The mage decided to head out with an Inquistion scouting patrol and await his fate.

  When he finally collapsed, the joints of his body no longer able to move, he wondered how much of him was still him and how much was red lyrium. It must have been in the blood vessels as his eyes, as an Inquisition scout who locked gazes with the green of his eyes as having a glow. Orsino didn’t look at anyone else. Not until familiar armor that reminded him of home walked up to them, a sort of hesitance to their steps.

  “Champion.” He greeted with a solemn smile. His words were light but still obvious that they were coming from a dying man. Orsino traded words with the woman he internally claimed to love but never confessed to. And even as he laid dying, he did not utter a word about it. He would take this secret to the grave. He didn’t want to ruin anything before he passed. Having Hawke beside him as he died was the greatest form of comfort he could have received. 

   He wished to hold her hand.    He didn’t want to kill her.

  Hawke wasn’t much as a talker, so he talked for the both of him. Even when his jaw began to lock up from the lyrium wedging itself into the hinges, he still managed to spit out one last question, desperate for peace of mind.

  “Did you ever forgive me?”
