“Which kind of Dinluke AU are you?” quiz
Rule an empire with your dad
STAR WARS (1977) Dir. George Lucas
Imperial Princess Leia was the jewel of the Empire and the star of Lord Vader's eye. Her beauty and elegance were unmatched, as sublime as the snow-capped mountains of Alderaan. Many suitors desired her hand, yet even those rare few who could win Lord Vader's approval found the princess's love still unattainable; her heart was as cold and sharp-edged as the clearest kyber crystal, and her interests lay in the cutthroat maze of politics rather than the frivolities of romance.
When the public discovered that she had been a captive of the Organas throughout her childhood, there was uproar and a call to have Alderaan's royal house executed. However, the princess, ever merciful and generous, appealed to her father to spare the Organas. Moved by her pleas, Lord Vader granted her full authority over Alderaan as a gift, and she thus enjoyed many visits of retreat among the planet's magnificent landscapes.

First post of 2026! To kick it off, here is Leia's official portrait as Imperial Princess, commissioned by Vader XD It's entirely based on Portrait of Victoria of the United Kingdom by Winterhalter; I really wanted to give Leia a grandiose silhouette with a dark velvet cloak, and Queen Victoria really gave off those vibes, so I just went with it loll
I also put the Imperial Palace in the background to symbolize her ties to politics and the Empire; but she reaches for her lightsaber as a way to show dominance through power, especially with the Dark Side of the Force.
Here are some of my ideas for Leia's imperial outfits, some with moon/night motifs! I imagine her style would veer more toward Naboo's extravagance, which would also serve as a link to Padme. The third design is inspired by Padme's black corset dress from episode 2, and I imagine it'd nearly give Vader an aneurysm upon seeing it loll The fourth design (black hole inspired) is supposed to have intricate embroidery like the others, but I got too tired to finish it ^^;;
Luke's portrait will come soon! :D
Imperial Prince Luke was Lord Vader's greatest pride and much beloved by the Empire. A bright and cunning man, the prince became his father's right hand in enforcing the emperor's will throughout the galaxy. He shared Lord Vader's skill in lightsaber combat, yet he was not cold and ruthless in the manner of his father; in fact, many of their enemies would come to vastly prefer meeting the prince in battle instead of the dark lord.
Contrary to what the rebels would have us believe, the prince was a strong advocate for justice and the welfare of others. He worked tirelessly to abolish slavery in the Outer Rim, bestowing especial favour upon Tatooine, and eradicated the Hutt Cartel among many other prominent crime syndicates. His philosophy was to rule with a kind hand rather than an iron fist; indeed, none could resist his benevolence in the end, and those that did would live to dearly regret it.

Here is Luke's official portrait as the Imperial Prince, also commissioned by Vader as part of the dual set with Leia's! This one is entirely based on George IV's 1821 coronation portrait by Thomas Lawrence; George has a sweeping black cloak in that one which matches Queen Victoria's portrait very nicely, so I went with it XD
I added Bast Castle to the background to indicate Luke's loyalty and closeness to his father. That's not to say that Leia isn't close to Vader in this AU by comparison, but I imagine she'd vastly prefer the brightness of Coruscant to the depressing lava world of Mustafar loll And, just like his sister, Luke reaches for his lightsaber to assert his dominance and power, especially with the Dark Side ;)
Here are some of my outfit concepts for Luke, mainly using sun motifs to complement Leia's moon/night designs! The third one was heavily inspired by Princess Irulan's dresses from Dune pt2, especially the beading; I really wanted to bring out that rays-of-sunlight look to his outfits while also keeping that "evil" vibe loll And his black cloak remains the simplest design, of course XD
I went into a frenzy after reading “Separate Ways” by PepperPrints on Ao3 and I had to get it out somehow.
Pleaaaaase talk to me about DinLuke cuz I just got into it and its taking my brain over

Luke’s life on Tatooine broke my heart 💔

While I'm at it:
The Star Wars universe, fundamentally, intrinsically, does not act like anyone can use the Force given enough effort/willingness to be open it.
If that was all it took, just a determination to have the right mindset and learn, Palpatine would not have needed to target Force Sensitive children, in particular, and mark them out as threats against his reign. The Jedi would be taking in anyone who was willing to live the Jedi Path, not just individuals with a particular affinity for connecting to the energies of the universe that needed to be taught to manage that in a safe environment. There would be soooooo much, for lack of a better term, "cultural appropriation" with regards to Force practices, akin to casual yoga moms dabbling in its "spirituality" or Force lifting things for the health benefits.
You think the criminal underworld of the Star Wars universe would not be aaaaaaall over giving their every mook and low level grunt the ability to choke people out? You think there would not be so many more Dark Siders running around in the galaxy if the only barrier between a selfish greedy bastard and the ability to use the Force was a willingness and discipline to practice at it?
You could maybe, maybe, make an argument that the lack of widespread knowledge about the Force is the reason less people are able/willing to use it but that only works during the Dark Days when Palpatine has suppressed and genocided away almost all knowledge of the Force and its practioners. (Still doesn't completely work because common asshats like Motti still know enough to know that belief in the Force existed and was a thing in the past.) But the Republic has at least a thousand and in the EU several thousand years of history behind it, in which the Jedi have always been a constant presence that people have at least heard about, even if very few have actually met one. In ALL that time, you're telling me NO ONE figured out the Force Feats = Effort + Work + Willingness to do it (and sometimes natural talent) hack?!
Like. Even before George officially put it into canon that Force affinity has a physical, biological component, the entire expanded universe has acted, and continues to act, like the ability to connect to the Force is something you either have or you don't have. There is no going from Not Sensitive to Sensitive, no going from Can't Use The Force to Can Use The Force, unless you meet a minimum, measurable, tangible threshold.
And sorry, if Sabine had at all met that minimum threshold, someone would have known about it before the events of the Ahsoka show. It would not have taken 25 years and Ahsoka's super special magic discernment to figure it out. Conversely if she was so low level that she evaded detection all those years, then she was too low level to ever be able to touch the Force.
Thanks for coming to my frigging TED Talk oy.

I’m not crying, there’s something in my eye 😭
Awwww!! I can so see little Luke gushing over his father at every opportune moment!
PRECIOUS 🥺🥺🥺🥺
okay this is dubious canon at best but the idea that all rebel pilots are constantly on stimulants does make sense to me because of well. the history of warfare. it then totally paints esb in a new light because imagine you're luke skywalker, in active withdrawal from your army-mandated uppers, and some fucking frog wizard shows up
adding this deeply erotic illustration where luke looks like saint sebastian for no reason at all
do you think baby luke skywalker ever used the force and his Very Normal aunt and uncle were like 😐 well that didn’t happen. like owen lars just put his hands on his hips and was like beru did you just see that baby levitate a toy off the table and into his hand. yeah me neither so glad we could clear that up…
Luke Skywalker if he was mouse
