a salty af psa aka my 1k rant concerning female muses
bruh it really baffles me how something so utterly outrageous is seen as normal in the rp community ™ —- the exclusion of female muses.
i usually never make posts like that ( ugh the drama ) but some things NEED to be said —- although i do know i’ll regret getting involved in this later. so yes, this is the first and LAST salty/callout post i’ll ever make. ALSO, if you haven’t noticed yet, i do have a bunch of male muses as well & over 5years of rp experience in VARIOUS fandoms —- so, yeah, i know what i’m talking about and i bet so does you.
i thought about putting this under the read more, but my frustration rn is too much for that. HOWEVER, if you don’t want to read my saltiness, just scroll past this shit and we’re good —- now, if you do happen to share my views, feel free to spread the word, if you wish. [ btw, sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language.]
i’m NOT here to spread hate on male muses ( or ANY muses tbh; quite contrary, i love & support all muses of all genders/no genders ) or their muns or even make a callout for a certain mun in special —- i dont do drama & plan on keeping my blog as a safe place for both me and my followers ( so be aware that i’ll kick your drama-filled ass if you start pestering me about this post ) . i’m here today to point out a few shitty things i’ve seen everyone doing, for as long as i can remember, to female muses.
i can’t believe how hypocrital —- and, yes, even hateful —- this community has become towards female muses ( canon or not, although lets us all be honest, female ocs suffer way more ! ). although NO ONE has to feel obligated to rp with a certain character ( you obviously have the all the right to decline a rp offer if you’re not comfortable/not feeling it ) it’s pretty ridiculous how many of you who reblog all these lovely feminist stuff & CLAIM that you support women end up excluding/isolating female muses on purpose in the very same community you all always complain about the lack of females characters.
the most common excuses i’ve seen around are pretty lame —- “female muses are all sues” ( the term has been used to describe ALL sorts of female muses, not only ocs and it’s so dumb that the real meaning of that word has been lost —– want it or not, strong female characters [ and strong women ] DO EXIST & they are just as AMAZING as your own muse.) ; “ female muses are all looking for ships not real plots” ( now tell me why, out of ALL people here , would my female muse be interested in yours in that way ?? ) or “sorry my character is gay” [ when inquired about a possible rp between the muses w/ no shipping mentioned ] ( has it ever occurred you that maybe they are not after your precious unique snowflake ?! has it ever crossed your mind that yes, female muses are just like any other character ? —- they have aspirations & dreams, family, friends, enemies…? NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ABOUT SHIPPING ! ) —- okay, i suppose the roots of these preposterous allegations come from how our society is shaped, sadly, women are still seen as objects in our world, but THAT’S NOT AN EXCUSE TO TREAT FEMALE CHARACTERS LIKE SHIT / IGNORE THEM !!!
most of the ones who do that to female muses are usually blinded by the “ “ oooHHH QUALITY™™ ” ”of their own blog / squads —- which sucks, considering these same blogs are the ones that end up shaping the rp fandoms they are in. basically, if you act like an elitist misogynistic asshole, you will end up influencing others to do the same —- big or small, our actions tend to influence the people that surround us & we too are influenced by them ( which is the entire damn point of this post, me trying to influence y'all in a GOOD way, at least rp-wise ).
ah, and if you don’t think the prejudice against female muses is real, allow me to use my own muses as examples to make my point. i’ve recently joined this certain fandom ’ M ’ with a CANON MALE muse & around the same time i started with my blog in this other fandom ( lets call it ’G’ ) with a FEMALE OC that i’ve been developing for years —- now, i can’t compare the fandoms, but i sure hell can compare HOW the roleplayers treat me when i’m in a certain blog. within a week, my MALE muse got almost 100 followers, meanwhile my FEMALE muse got 30 something ;; whenever i approached someone with a plot / sent a meme, my MALE MUSE got 90% of the answers whilst my FEMALE MUSE got ignored —– and what’s even worse, by the very same roleplayers. the funniest shit here is that the G fandom is FULL of powerful female leads & yet all the roleplayers you see around are mostly male !!! even the canon muses get ignored ! ;; meanwhile, in the M fandom, i’ve been getting memes & follows from ALL sort of muses all the time.
it’s NOT coincidence. it’s not bc the fandoms are different or the quality of my writing ( that shit remains the same lol ) —- it’s bc people accept more male muses than female ones.
this honestly makes me really sad.
we are in a never ending battle for equality in our real lives —- in our houses, schools, jobs and etc —- so WHY the hell don’t we do the same in roleplay ? why must people throw away all the EFFORT & LOVE we put into our characters ?? why do we turn a blind eye at how females are treated in the rp world ?!?!?!?
the thing about the fight for equality is that it’s not just some aesthetic shit to make you popular or make you look cool —- it’s real and important & if you’re joining this fight you must be ready to let it get inside of ALL aspects of your lives …. then —– and only then —- you will be real about this.
