ume has SOOO much character that has yet to be posted bc i just. can't explain it all naturally lmao

so here's a cutesy lil thing w some of her likes and dislikes

you may think that her disliking violence clashes with her connection with rudo, and that's true!! i don't think she'd like him much at first when all she saw was his aggression!

but the heart of her character is that she always reaches out to people and tries to understand and help them, so when she approaches him with kindness, she sees that his aggression isn't him, and she's able to appreciate his empathy instead, bc despite how his aggressive tendencies overshadow it, i firmly believe rudo's empathy is a much bigger piece of his character

why do i always redesign characters shortly after i make an actual reference

anyway i was thinking about ume (as usual) and realized that it would lowk make sense for her uniform to be designed to look like a maid

isn't she a cutie :D

(also i just really like the ribbon jinki so that's replacing her lipstick bc as much as i love the idea it also annoys me a lil to work around sometimes

it's still a gift from her mom and now it flows better bc it could awake when her mother is attacked and she kills her dad instinctively with the new power, coloring why she doesn't want to fight with it and when she does it's always defensive

i don't have any ideas for a name for the ribbon or how all four could count as one tho, so. if anyone has any ideas they'd like to share :3)

I was stalking your posts about ume for a good while and noticed how you described her opinion or her relationship at least with rudo, so can I ask rudo's opinion on her?

ANYWAY

initially, she intimidated him, just like all the cleaners did, but he didn't have the same negative impression of her that she had of him. her more gentle nature was actually a massive breath of fresh air for him, not only in this new environment, but in his LIFE

to me, rudo is someone who lashes out when he feels "threatened" for lack of a better term (when he doesn't know how to handle a situation, when he feels pressured or embarrassed, etc), and ume is someone who's good at putting people at ease, so he's usually pretty calm around her. she puts him at ease.

the two have deliberately similar backstories too, so there's a sense of understanding between them as well

the main thing tho is that he has a massive cringe crush

call me corny idc, the person we saw him canonically have a crush on was the one person who was kind and gentle with him so i'm giving him an immediate crush on my kind and gentle oc

he thinks she's the sweetest, strongest, prettiest person to have ever walked the earth, and he would do anything to make her happy

(his history with chiwa definitely colors how he handles it though, so. he's way too scared to DO anything about it.)
