From what I was told in debriefin’ ‘fore they sent me off, there was jus’…some sort’a mass breakdown in everythin’. Lot’a dead noncoms, folks doin’ exactly th’wrong things for the situation, and more’n a few who didn’t make it to respawn. Not a pretty mess, an’ I saw some’a th’pictures. Cleanup crew wasn’ pleased.

Not sure where th’admin wound up goin’, but…y’know, I don’ rightly care, either. Done with that base, though.

Bein’ that we’re both ranked, don’t it make sense that we’re gonna be questioned a bit? Not sure what happened with Al, but I know I was. Then we both got fucked up by a respawn glitch earlier ‘cause we were slotted in f’r a duel an’ wrecked eachother. Hence…my therapy bullshit.

Well, the first logical thing was to meet the team’s Medic, chances were he’d be keeping her alive once the battles started. Might as well get to know him and possibly get into his good graces… if she could bring herself to actually knock. Not that Emily was afraid of doctors (in her sport of...

She had pictures in her head about what the Medic would look like: a respectable man with a kind smile and gentle aura. In all seriousness, she was expecting someone like her primary doctor back in Bristol, nothing at all like the scowling giant of a man who stood in the doorway.  Broad shouldered, one eye covered with a patch and heavy scarring on that side of his face. He was easily an entire foot taller than she was, and Emily was sure this man could break her over his knee if he ever felt to inclined.  Well, maybe. Judging from his cane he probably had some sort of leg or knee injury but regardless, getting on this man's bad side was probably a bad idea. Right. Deep breaths, back straight, shoulders squared, try not to stare at the eye patch.

"Emily Leighton," she began, sounding as collected as possible as she held out a hand. "The new Scout. Nice to meet you."

Oh joy. Handshakes. Really and truly, this had been exactly what Monty had wanted.

His glare shifted, now redirected to the hand being offered. Giving a quick shake of his head, the Medic put his cane in front of him, resting both hands atop it to hold it steady. New recruit indeed--it was good to know that he could still guess that sort of thing before they even showed their faces, even if it wasn't all that hard. Out here, there weren't a lot of new people to be had regardless.

"Y'already know who I am, so I'll spare you th'innerduction. 'F you don' mind my askin', you got a reason for comin' knockin'?" While his tone wasn't harsh, the sharp look he fixed Emily with made it clear that he didn't entirely care if she minded the question.

Emily didn’t want to come off as some nervous little spazz to their Medic on her first bloody day on base. Really she was thinking about this too much. Just knock, say “hello, my name is Emily and I’m the new Scout”, shake hands, maybe make small talk, and then go about the day.  Simple. Emily cracked her knuckles and rolled her shoulders before finally knocking. 

"Doctor Rhodes?"

Hearing his name called had stopped being at least vaguely enjoyable a long time ago. With this job, he could almost always predict what would happen after somebody came knocking--either they'd managed to mes up and get hurt, or they were trying to bother him in some way. Being that he hadn't heard the voice asking for him before, Monty was inclined to think it would lead to a variation of the latter. In all likelihood, this was a new recruit, which meant more paperwork. Great.

Breathing a short sigh, the Medic stood slowly, reaching for his cane as he went. Sure, he didn't need it quite as badly as he had been, but it was still better to have the added support just in case. Besides, he could always give somebody a good drubbing with it if they decided to be irritating. That was always a plus.

A good ten seconds after Emily knocked, the door opened, revealing BLU's head Medic in all his scowling glory.

"Who's askin'."

Well, look at that. We’re finally gettin’ some reinforcements around ‘ere.

Would’a been nice ‘f they would’ve shown up before th’battle started, but—beggars cain’t rightly be choosers, I s’pose. We’ll deal with it.

We’ll see how long y’guys need the help for. Not too fond’a BLU, really, but I suppose I ain’t got much of a choice.
