Tumblr is really good for long rambles! I don’t need to be stuttered in my thoughts by word limits :)
I JUST FINISHED THE 3.2 ARCHON QUEST! MANY THOUGHTS!! HEAD FULL!!!
So I have two working theories for why the abyss twin belongs to this world but the traveler twin doesn’t.
1. Abyss twin has pledged allegiance or formed some sort of pact in this world, making them then one with the world - allowing the irminsul to then record their marks on this world (though could be up for debate if that allows their past to be recorded too, assuming they made that pact after journeying for some time🤔).
2. Teyvat (or the world before it was known as teyvat), was originally the twins homeland a very very long time ago before the twins left (for whatever reason). I’m thinking eons, perhaps during the primordial one’s time? But teyvat as it is now has long since changed over and over since the twin’s absence making the present world unrecognisable to them - and the present world doesn’t recognise them.
But let’s say the abyss twin, has made the journey across the nations and at the end re-discovered the origins of this world (the fuzzy part of the irimsul records?). Perhaps the “truth of this world” or at least part of it, tells the abyss twin that this world was originally their home. Perhaps they encountered something that let them recognise/reconnect with the world and henceforth, the world recognised them again - which also allowed them to record the abyss twin’s mark in the new, present world.
So the reason the abyss twin encourages the traveler twin to journey the nations like they once had is because the traveler needs to make the same journey. Traveler hasn’t yet discovered the “truth” or reconnected with their origins so they aren’t yet recognised as belonging to the world. The twins can represent each other in different timelines, perhaps the traveler twin needs to make the journey to better understand the abyss twin …..we may yet discover more about the twins lore as we journey! 🧐
Another theory occurred after browsing! I was reminded of the “loom of fate” and how Dain also mentioned the “threads of fate will be your to re-weave” in the teyvat trailer. Also how the abyss order had a “loom of fate” operation in the first traveler interlude quest (as well as it being a title of a locked story on travelers profile)!
Perhaps the pact/allegiance theory I mentioned above could be the abyss twin literally tying their own fate into teyvat? The fuzzy moment in the irminsul records could be when they started reweaving the threads of fate - much like how we can remove memories completely from this world (as proven by 3.2) by destroying it from the “core”, the world tree/irminsul; we can plant memories or add to the records of the world by….weaving into the loom of fate? Could the loom of fate and iriminsul be similar things or even the same? 🤔
I also saw someone comment that the “loom of fate” operation was perhaps the abyss order trying to rewrite the fate of Khaenri’ah and the abyss twin could’ve “tied” their fate into teyvat so they could help that goal. This also just brings to me that the abyss twin could’ve just adopted Khaenri’ah as their home and adopted themselves into being part of teyvat…? 🤔 Though does Khaenri’ah count as part of teyvat? I have been looking at Teyvat as a continent of the seven nations alone but is teyvat the name of the whole world itself? Cause there’s the seven nations, beyond that is called the dark sea, where defeated gods, monsters and lands ungoverned by celestia and the archons lay….
WAIT THAT LAST SCREENSHOT … the traveler speculates it could be the abyss 🧐 could the abyss tainted and “claimed” the abyss twin? Like how the thirst for battle and foul legacy has imprinted into Childe but he did manage to go back up to the surface while the abyss twin seems to have fully went and accepted being part of the abyss given how they are part of the abyss order ….
So the current known qualifications of a “descender” is not being from this world. This again makes me question if teyvat is the whole world or just the seven nations. And is Khaenri’ah considered part of teyvat or this world? Because if Khaenri’ah is not considered part of teyvat, there could be Khaenri’ahn people among the descenders…. though the name itself implies that the being would have come down or “descended” into this world from above while Khaenri’ah is underground….

There’s so much lore drop! I feel ecstatic omg!!! I am willing to bet on Alice being a descender! Nahida suspects the “heavenly principles” as being one of the descenders (which would make them not from this world!!) but also we find out that the heavenly principles have been long quiet ever since 500 years ago….which was when Khaenri’ah‘a destruction/ the cataclysm happened as well as when the twins tried to leave the world. Was stopping the twins the last time the heavenly principles were active?

A collection of my reactions to Nilou’s story quest today 😭 I finally got around to doing it and initially it didn’t seem like much but then this happened while live-commentating to my friend
dream team! loved how they all hated each other in the beginning 👍🏻
I haven’t been very diligent with quests lately I need to finish off the archon quest!! 😢 Reminder to self that next time, do any story quest released beforehand to eliminate the possibility of getting story-blocked by same locations/characters …
