I don’t think I’ve ever been quite as aware of how serious this shit is, up until now. I live about 100km away from the gold mine. That’s scary close, considering the fact that they plan on wiping out four mountains in less than 16 years. Sixteen years of pestering this country with cyanide, all that for less than 1k jobs. Yeah. The government’s that greedy. If you’re not familiar with the subject, all this is about the Roșia Montană gold mine in western Transylvania. Yeah, vampires. Do I have your attention now?

A Canadian company is currently in power and they plan on basically wiping out from the face of the earth 4 mountains, ancient roman galleries and forcing people to move from their home. They pretty much don’t give a fuck, the only thing they care about is getting hold of all the gold this country holds. It sickens me. The worst part is that they plan on doing that by using cyanide. Not only is this a toxic chemical for those who would be working with it, but there could be a cyanide spill - something that we’ve dealt with before, 13 years ago. But that doesn’t mean it has to happen again.

There’s protests going on all around the country, and a petition is out there, and you can sign the petition (here). It takes less than a minute, and you could help not wipe out pretty much a whole country. I know for sure Romanian people that are actually AGAINST this project, will be forever grateful.

I don’t care how many times I repeat myself, I need to bring as much attention to this whole situation and petition, as possible. I will not stand here and let this happen, I should at least have some say regarding the country I live in/I might live in for the next few years.
