Recently, I saw Bebe being asked what colab of hers she was surprised didn’t do better and she answered with “Back To You”. Do you think at some point Bebe questioned Louis’ side as to why that song really wasn’t promoted and pushed by them? Also, I wonder if Bebe was ultimately upset and disappointed that she got caught up in crap that affected her career as well.

I think Bebe is very savvy about the music industry. She has been in it since about age 16, basically did it on her own, has been in bad situations where she was not credited or paid for her work until lawyers were involved (and she had the means to hire one).

She might not have known the details about Louis’ situation, but undoubtedly she figured out that Epic did not want to promote BTY. Nothing needed to be said explicitly. When she answered the collab question, my take on it is not that she was puzzled— she was giving shade. If Mike Adams knew he wasn’t properly promoted, then Bebe, who co-promoted it with Louis, surely knew. Their performance at iHeart was not advertised. There was no buzz after any of the American television performances.

I don’t think Bebe regretted working with Louis; imo BTY brought her an audience, it didn’t diminish her career. You can collaborate with any popular artist and not have a hit. Unfortunately, it looks flakey on Louis’ end. As I said, Bebe may not know the details, but she knows the discrepancy between Louis’ potential audience and the label’s investment into him, and she knows it’s weird.
