This is a wonderful picture of a 33 year-old Princess Grace. She had two children by this time (Princess Caroline and Prince Albert) and the movie star glamour had faded away. Still, she looked just as beautiful, refined, and feminine as ever.

Just discovered your blog. It's lovely!! What was the first old house you fell in love with?

That would have to be my grandparents' old Shingle-style Victorian in Bar Harbor, Maine. It was built in the 1880s and it sits on a rolling perch overlooking the bay. To me, then, the house seemed endless with all of its stairs and nooks and crannies. My granddaddy would walk my brother and me along the beach and we would comb through the pebbles searching for blue and green gems of sea glass...
