@alix-winchester asks: Hey, can you do an imagine/short fic in which the Doctor gets captured by Daleks or the reader thinks he was killed by them and she kinda goes on a rampage ending in the Daleks telling her she would make a good Dalek (like they did to the Doctor that one time) and like the Doctor comforting her when she over thinks it that night or in a couple days or something. Thanks ahead of time.
Absolutely! This is super long, possibly the longest piece I’ve written here. (1975 words. 100% Angst.)
The sky is dark and has a shade of deep purple emitting from itself. There’s thunder, yet no lightning or rain. The pavement is rugged and glistening.
You were lost. You saw him a second ago. Where in the world was he?
“YOU WILL BE NO MORE!” The words beat into your heart. “YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED.”
Time goes in slow motion. The Doctor takes sight of you while he is surrounded by the metallic demons. You cannot run quick enough. You swear you catch a glimpse of his smile before he is shot to the ground with one huge blast of light.
“No!” You shout. It’s no use. Why wouldn’t your feet take you any faster? “Doctor!”
“How could you?” You cry.
“EXTERMINATE. THE DOCTOR IS NO MORE.”
You draw your hand blasters. You shoot. It’s so damn loud. You scream and scream until there is silence. Your weapons slip from your hands. You fall on one knee and catch your breath. You look ahead and break into a sprint towards your Doctor. That stupid, stupid Doctor.
“Please, please, please.” You find yourself repeating this over and over as you try to find a single pulse in his corpse. You laugh through your tears, still hoping this was just a sick nightmare. “You idiot. Wake up, please. Stop playing games.”
An unfamiliar ship roars through the sky and above both you and The Doctor. You can barely see through the blinding light emitting from the ship. Suddenly, The Doctor’s body begins levitating upwards and inevitably into the ship. You panic and begin running for your hand blasters when you notice the sonic screwdriver fall out of his pocket and onto the gravely ground. You run back towards it and point the screwdriver at the bright sky above you and feel yourself begin to lift off the ground as well. The Earth becomes further and further away and it scares you, but you are going to save the Doctor at all costs. You are thrown to the side of the ship once entered and groan in pain. You open one eye and see the Doctor’s lifeless body being lifted out of the room followed by Daleks. You get up to chase after him but are blocked by more Daleks at the entrance of the corridor. You are the surrounded one now. Although, the Doctor is still not safe. You’re not finished. You grip the sonic tight and shoot each Dalek around you until they malfunction completely. You squeeze your way in between the two Daleks from the corridor and slice your side on the broken metal. You moan in response and continue on, grabbing your side as you make your way to him. The walls are an annoying shade of orange and you laugh bitterly at the unit of Daleks’ taste in colour. You run as you see more Daleks following you close behind down the endless hallway. You burst through a random door and fall backwards. You take your moment of exposure to do what you can with the sonic to stop the Daleks in front of the door. You scramble to your feet and shut the door, also with the sonic, and hunch over for a deep breath.
You spin around faster than you’ve ever done in your life. Shock completely engulfs you. Your precious Doctor, barely conscious, yet living, tied up against a slanted and metallic board. Next to him, your picture perfect representation of the Devil, himself. A Dalek. You lose your breath at the sight of his short breaths and his weary smile. You cannot be distracted. You must save him.
“Let’s cut to the chase. I’ve already killed hundreds of you in the last thirty minutes.” You wipe the sweat off your brow. “Let him go. Or I will tear him away from you myself.”
“Don’t sell yourself short. I can see he’s alive, you dumb piece of steel.”
“THE DALEKS HAVE SUFFERED.”
“THOUGH, Y/N HAS SUFFERED MOST.”
“YOU ARE A GREAT DALEK. YOU ENVY US.”
You feel a ball in your throat. You attempt to keep your anger and tears down.
“I would never be such a pest as a Dalek.” You choke out the sentence.
“YOU HAVE PROVED YOURSELF WORTHY OF BEING A DALEK.”
“P-please, Y/N, don’t listen to them.” The Doctor coughs out your name. You ignore him.
“YOU HAVE KILLED US. YOU HAVE KILLED LIVES. YOU ARE ONE OF US.”
“No. No, I can’t be.” You are stuck in your place. “I had to save the Doctor.”
“THE DOCTOR IS SAVED. YOU ARE ONE OF US.”
Your eyes feel blinded, although you can still see the deep red Dalek in front of you. You feel as though a bright spotlight is on you in this moment. Your vision and hearing are blank. You reach out your hand, keeping perfectly still otherwise. You feel yourself squeezing something or clenching your fist—you can’t be sure. Suddenly, the Dalek wails in pain. Your vision comes back as you realize what you have done. You scream and wail as the Doctor falls from his bonds onto the ground. His frailness is no longer a worry of yours. You are a Dalek. You are a Dalek. You are a Dalek. You are.
“Y/N! C’mon!” You’re being dragged away as you wail like the Dalek has just done. Everything is so damn blurry. “Y/N, get us out of here!”
You do what you are told.
You point the sonic at any attempting Daleks and are dropped in a corner by a control panel of sorts. The Doctor tears the sonic away from you and schemes his way of guiding the ship to land without all of you dying.
You stare at the familiar entry way of the corridor and continue to cry. You feel nothing but a heavy weight on your chest.
“Y/N, how did we get here? Tell me, please.” His voice is desperate. He stands in front of you trying to grasp your attention. “Y/N?”
“They lifted you up, and I-I couldn’t save you. I couldn’t reach-“
He darts back toward the control panel and manages to turn on the beam. He lifts you up as best as he can and stands at the edge of the opening where you once entered this cruel ship. He looks you in the eyes, finally catching your view.
“Look at me, and don’t stop.” He pulls you with him over the edge. Your stomach flips when suddenly you are caught by the beam. You and the Doctor slowly make your way down back onto Earth, as the ship flies away faster than normal and into the galaxy. You stop crying and realize where you are. You look behind you and see the Doctor, fallen onto his knees. Your worry sets in for the first time in a few minutes and you finally snap out of your shock. You pull his arm over your shoulder and try to pull him towards the TARDIS as safely and quickly as possible. You take the key wrapped around your neck and unlock the doors. The Doctor and you collapse inside the doors and the TARDIS shuts them behind the both of you. You catch your breaths, lying next to each other on the main floors, not even managing to climb the stairs to the console. Your side suddenly begins to sting again and you roll onto your good side in pain. The Doctor lifts himself up and practically falls against your chest. He rests his shaking hand against your side and groans as orange light fills the room. You become wide eyed, watching what he is doing.
“No, no no no.” You attempt to push his hand away, but to no avail. “Why would you do that? Why, Doctor?”
Your side is completely healed, minus a slight burning sensation left over from the energy. His head is still on your chest and he pushes himself up with one arm and soon into a sitting position.
“You saved me. I could ask the same question.” He coughs into his tattered sleeve and lifts you up as he stands. All you can do is hug him. He hugs you back tighter than ever and dips his head into your shoulder. Yours and his questions do not need answers. You both know the unspoken truth tied between the both of you. You walk each other up the steps and to the console. The Doctor grabs your hand before he flips a switch, throwing the TARDIS into the galaxies. He holds you in a tight embrace as the lurch into space passes and you steady back into your regular drift through the cosmos. You let go and stare into each other’s eyes like the star cross’d lovers you imagine yourselves to be. He walks you back to your room and says to shout his name if you need him. He promises he will come running. As The Doctor carries himself to the medbay, you sit in your bed and stare at your mauve walls. You ponder for less than a moment before the tears come back to your eyes. You feel so damn weak. Your tears will not quit their falling down your cheeks. You feel yourself falling back into the nothingness like you had been feeling not even an hour ago. You start to sob and cry and wail. You call out the Doctor’s name.
“Doctor, I have to save you! Please!” You take a gulp of air as you continue to yell at your wall. “Stop playing games with me, wake up!”
You feel a pair of arms wrap around you, yet you continue to cry out his name. Only when a pair of beautiful eyes stare into yours does your hysteria end completely. Hands hold your cheeks and you grab onto them for support.
“Y/N,” You hear his voice. “It’s me. I’m right here. Can’t you see me? You saved me. I’m okay.”
“Doctor,” You breath out in bliss. A smile takes you over and he smiles in return. “I missed you so much. I thought I’d lost you.”
“Y/N,” He pulls your head forward and kisses your forehead. “I’m right here. You will never lose me.”
“They said I would make a perfect Dalek,” Fear entranced you once more. “I killed so many of them...”
“No, stop. Please, I’m right here.” The Doctor shakes his head and tries to grab your attention again as your eyes glaze over in fright. “You’re not a Dalek. You’re nothing close. You are you.”
For a lack of a better word, The Doctor ends the conversation there and lays you down in your bed. He grabs an extra comforter from your closet shelves and lays it on top of you. You notice now he is missing his coat and bow tie.
“Doctor?” You tug on his dress shirt as he’s leaving. He turns around, standing at your doorway. The backlight from the hall causes his face to be covered by his shadow. You swear you see a light smile plastered on him.
“Shout if you need me, or whisper. I’m sure the TARDIS will let me know.” He slides his hand over your bedroom wall in appreciation for his ship. “And on a final note, I may fool around during serious moments. But I’d never do that with... you.”
He takes one last look at you before leaving the room and shutting the door behind himself.
He’d come running, no matter where you were. But the thing that would calm you endlessly was that silly smile on his face that made your heart flutter a certain way. Damn.
