Happy 15th Anniversary to Wicked! I can’t even begin to describe how special this show is to me. I first found out about it in high school, and not to get too deep, but as somebody who didn’t have many friends and often felt alienated by many of the people I thought were my friends, I related quite strongly to odd, bookish, outcast Elphaba. My high school sketchbooks are filled with doodles of the characters I only really knew from the soundtrack, and later Gregory Maguire’s novel.
In 2011 I finally got to see Wicked when it was on tour in Edmonton. It was the first show I’d ever seen professionally performed, and it was so emotionally moving to see. I can only hope maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to see Wicked again

elphaba
Pfannee: Welcome to the ‘fuck Elphaba’ support group, where we gather to say a collective ‘fuck you’ to that bitch.
Shenshen: But first, a few words from our newest member.
Galinda, sweating: So I may have misunderstood-
wicked is literally the most queercoded musical ever i am This Close to just going fuck it and writing a whole essay on how gelphie is actually a more convincing ship and how its all so queercoded i literally listened to what is this feeling and nearly had a heart attack and
I finished it!!! 💕 I’m thinking of making a matching Elphie one!
sneaky peaky - WIP
Brittney Johnson, the first woman of color to play the role of Glinda in Wicked on Broadway.
I watched Brittney’s performance last night. She’s honestly so beautiful and she suited Glin so well! She kept her intelligence and ditziness even and accurate to the story and overall seeing her was so enjoyable. I’m pleased the show is getting more representation, though yet it doesn’t have nearly as much considering A- What the show is about and B- The fact that characters like Fiyero are stated in the books to be POC, yet we’ve seen hardly any POC play these roles.
Also I think Glinda deserves to spin Elphaba at least once during Popular. As a treat
A little spinny spin spin, Elphaba and Glinda both deserve the little romance they get in their lives
OK HERES THE THING. i know for 100% sure ive seen a clip where glinda spins her. ive seen it with my own two eyes. hell, i may have even reblogged it. good chance that i did. despite this, however, IT LITERALLY DOESNT EXIST ANYWHERE AND IM SO PISSED
SO THIS IS A MONTH OLD BUT I FINALLY FOUND THE CLIP I WAS TALKING ABOUT. HELLO
what about 'thank glinda its friday'
obligatory theyre so happy i hope nothing bad happens to them post
guys you’ll never believe this.
sometimes im normal about gelphie and other times its like oh my god they were soulmates they were the only two people who could really understand each other and they finally felt like the future was looking uo for them and they were so hopeful and also in love and then they were torn apart and even when they got a second chance it wasnt enough because the world is cruel and she died alone

My thoughts on ‘For Good’
With this song being my favourite in the musical, if I had to pick, I have veryyy strong opinions on it! Without mentioning the obvious beauty of the song with all the underlying tones that surpass any hints of romance or love ever, and how sAD it is, I’ll get straight onto my point.
First time I started analysing this song, first thing I noticed was the obvious change in usual vocal ranges within the pair. Glinda was usually the one taking the higher notes, while Elphaba stuck within a lower range (of course with the exception of her outstanding belting- however Glinda’s voice was usually more operatic and- you get what I mean)
However within this song, we see the change take place, with Elphie taking the higher notes in the duet for once and Glinda sticking low. At first I took this as a sign of grievance from Glinda, as usually sorrowfulness is presented with deep undertones. And while I think this idea is still present, I had an epiphany! They changed to fit and harmonise with each other’s vocals. And what is the subject of this song?
‘Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better, but
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good’
It’s gosh darn symbolism of the change they’re talking about in the song! They’re giving us a vocal representation of how they changed each other, obviously the thing they’re referring to isn’t their voices, but I think it’s so clever!
Also adding onto that, this is also seen within Glinda’s and Elphaba’s outfits during act two! If you want to know more, watch Wicked Is Gay (And Here’s Why) on YouTube! After watching this video I noticed how well it explains a lot of my thoughts mentioned here and about this musical in general, so if you haven’t checked it out already, go ahead and do so!
