Eldritchrune - Out of the Void
1 | 2
Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost
There's something incomprehensible hiding at the edges of the void that Catti carries...
But fortunately for Kris, they're saved by their beast friends and brought back to the dark world before they're truly lost. Most importantly, they finally recruit Catti and Jockington to the Fun Gang!
Yay, another comic done! This will probably be the last one where terrible things happen to Kris for quite awhile...they deserve a break! Not sure when the next one will be since we're still hovering around waiting for chapter five's release, but more will be coming along in the future!
Alt text for this comic is under the read more:
Page 1
Panel 1 - A small inset panel with an extreme closeup on Kris’s wide eye. They think only one thing: “Oh no.”
Panel 2 - The entire rest of the page is a single black void. Towards the bottom of the page, a tiny Kris freefalls into sheer blackness.
Page 2
The page is, again, a single panel of blackness, punctuated only by the blurs of falling motion. In the middle of the blackness, Kris continues to freefall into nothing. Two strings of thought twist around them like a DNA strand, each word its own thought bubble:
“I can’t hear or see anything it’s just dark dark dark I’m going to die and never come back”
“It’s quiet and peaceful I’m finally free free free I’ll never need to worry about hurting ever again”
Page 3
Panel 1 - Another panel of blackness, with only soft blurs of motion. Kris continues to fall. Their thoughts are disconnected from them as they do so: “I don’t think I’m breathing.”
Panel 2 - Closer in on Kris as blurry stars whirl by in the black. “Am I dead?”
Panel 3 - The blurry stars brighten, as if Kris is tumbling through the cosmos. Again, the camera peers closer. “Ralsei can’t reach me here?”
Panel 4 - Darkness and motion streak past Kris as they fall helplessly, weightlessly through nothing. “Am I just here?”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris as they look miserably out at the endless darkness, and think, “Alone in the dark, forever?”
However, the white panel borders are starting to distort and split. Something seems to be creeping out of the panel borders themselves.
Page 4
Panel 1 - Extreme closeup on Kris’s eye, their expression suddenly becoming fearful. “Wait.”
Panel 2 - Again, on Kris’s face, looking afraid. “Wait.” The panels are splitting like glass, fingers creeping out of the borders.
Panel 3 - Again, a closeup on Kris’s face, their eyes wide. “Oh god!”
Panel 4 - Kris freefalls through blackness. The silhouettes of white hands creep out more from the panel borders. “I’m. I’m not alone?!”
Panel 5 - Kris’s thoughts explode out of the thought bubbles entirely as the borders around them splinter and crack into reaching hands. The hands grab at them from outside reality itself, fingers collapsing their arms, their legs. Their face is a panicked scream, and their thoughts a mess of words around them: OHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGOD THERE’S SOMEONE HERE WITH ME!
Panel 6 - The void becomes a black hole, a swirling mess of black and stars that form an enormous, coiled snake with sparkling scales. At the center of the singularity, the black snake stretches its jaws open as if to swallow Kris again, light pouring from its throat. The Gaster-esque hands continue to spin around the singularity, and Kris is pulled, impossibly stretched towards the center of the vortex. Their thoughts swirl around with them, an endless scream: GETMEOUTGETMEOUTGETMEOUT!!!! HE’S IN HERE WITH–
Page 5
Panel 1 - A mid shot as Jockington suddenly pulls Kris back into reality with a sharp POP! He’s holding Kris by one foot, and Kris dangles helplessly upside-down. “Goooooal! I got ‘em I got ‘em!” Jockington says around Kris in his mouth.
Panel 2 - Full shot as Jockington carefully lowers Kris back to the ground. They’re surrounded on all sides by the beasts…Catti on one side, Susie on the other, and Noelle between them, looking worried. Ralsei also looks on from the foreground.
Panel 3 - Ralsei runs up to Kris as they lay on the ground. They’re alive, but staring wide-eyed and unresponsive…
Panel 4 - But finally, they take in a big GASP of air, arching their body up as if finally realizing that they exist again. Ralsei leans down next to them, his cloak billowing out around him. “Kris! Thank goodness, you’re all right!”
Panel 5 - Ralsei puts one hand on Kris’s chest and carefully holds up their head, trying to keep them still. They’re shaking, staring wide-eyed at nothing, and keep quietly murmuring the MERCY command over and over between gasping breaths.
Panel 6 - Ralsei continues to hold them still, and says, “Easy, Kris, just take deep breaths!” Kris starts to come back to reality and does so, breathing heavily. They’re still shaking, and they look frightened by the experience, but they’re starting to recover.
Page 6
Panel 1 - Ralsei continues, “Don’t worry! Noelle was able to break up the fight.” In the foreground, Kris sits up more, and looks towards the beasts. Catti and Susie are both sitting in loaf positions, glaring at each other. Noelle stands between the two, looking down at Susie.
Panel 2 - Full shot as Kris fully sits up, and puts a hand to their chest. Behind them, Ralsei continues to try and steady them. “Wh…wh-what…h-happened…” Kris finally says in a quiet, shaky tone.
Panel 3 - Full shot of Catti, sitting in a loaf position. She shows off the black void side, dotted only with staring cat eyes. “Do. Not. Touch. Void side,” she says simply.
“Lucky we know, magics to locate souls in there!” Jockington adds.
Panel 4 - Closeup on Susie as she shoots back, “*Unlucky* you fell on Kris in the first place, clumsy cat!”
Panel 5 - “Greedy idiot,” Catti retorts with a snarl.
In the foreground, Noelle steps up to interfere again, and says, “Hey, what matters is that we got Kris back okay!”
Panel 6 - Wide shot of the whole gang sitting in the empty area, darkness and mist surrounding them. All of the beasts look at each other, and Kris finishes catching their breath. No one says anything for a moment.
Page 7
Panel 1 - In the foreground, Kris turns to face Catti and Jockington. They say, “Well. It’s clear you two are quite powerful. I think it would be smart of me to ask if you will accompany us.” Catti and Jockington sit in the middle ground, listening curiously.
Panel 2 - Full shot of Catti, Noelle and Susie all in a line. Susie looks at the chimera and sputters, “What?! Recruiting *them*? No way!!” She snarls at the idea.
Catti just snarls back at Susie and says, “Accompanying *that* beast?”
Panel 3 - Closeup on Catti as she turns back to Kris. “Distateful. Why?” The distaste is clear on her face.
Panel 4 - Full shot of Kris sitting cross-legged on the ground, with Ralsei sitting just behind them. “We’re on our way back to the light world. You said you were hungry for humans, for your magic?” Kris says. “If you come with me, and follow all of my commands, I’ll let you loose on the light world. You can devour all the humans you like.”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Catti and Jockington. The snake excitedly darts around Catti’s head, his expression eager and pleading. “Catti, Catti, say yes, Catti! Humans breakfast, lunch and, dinner!” he yells. “We could learn, so many new, spells! Say yes yes!!” Catti just looks thoughtful.
Panel 6 - In the foreground, Catti turns back towards Susie, and protests, “But…that lizard…”
Susie just sneers back at her and sticks her tongue out, almost childish.
Page 8
Panel 1 - Full shot as Noelle again steps towards Catti. She says, “I’ll be coming along, too. I could show you more ice magic, if you’re interested?” As Catti looks up at Noelle, Jockington taps impatiently on her head.
Panel 2 - Catti then glances back at Jockington, who nods at her with a big smile.
Panel 3 - In the same framing, Catti finally relents, brushing at the fur under her chin with her claws. “Hmm. Fine.” Jockington grins down at her.
Panel 4 - With that, all of the beasts, Kris, and Ralsei get to their feet. Jockington gives a little “yaaay!” at the decision. In contrast, Susie groans under her breath.
Panel 5 - Full shot as Ralsei continues to help Kris along. They look tired, but much more back to normal now. “Well done, Kris! After your ordeal, I’d say you’ve earned a rest for the day,” Ralsei says.
Panel 6 - “Let’s find a good camping spot!” Ralsei continues as the two walk through the beasts to the lead. Catti and Jockington look down at them with some uncertainty, while Noelle leans in closer to smell that they’re doing okay.
Page 9
A single wide shot of all the beasts walking away from the camera and off into the mists. Ralsei and Kris walk in the middle of them, leading the way. Berdly, on the far left, starts spouting off his own thoughts: “At last, a proper black mage is in the party! As lead tactician and smartest beast, I shall incorporate this into my calculations henceforth!”
Catti just has one response to this… “Already, regret.”
A text box appears to show that it’s official: * Catti and Jockington joined the party!
Awesome work as always!
Now I'm curious how much of those dual statements were due to catti's void and two-face design, and how much that was just Kris' brain having two natural reactions. Either way, poor kid.
Eldritchrune - Meeting Catti and Jockington
1 | 2
Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost
Kris finally encounters a new eldritch beast while traversing a land of waterfalls and misty darkness! Unfortunately, they prove to be difficult to work with, and Kris's attempts to resolve the situation just make things worse for them!
Man I've been wanting to do the Meeting Cattington comic forever, so it's real nice to finally get to it! This is yet another two-parter, so look out for the conclusion tomorrow!
Alt text for this comic is under the read more:
Page 1
Panel 1 - An inset panel with a closeup n Ralsei. He cups his hands around his mouth and yells downward: “Keep going, Kris! You’re almost there!”
Panel 2 - Wide shot to reveal a tall, almost pillar-like mountain. The mountain is full of holes, and long waterfalls spill from the holes endlessly. Ralsei, Susie, Noelle and Berdly stand on top of the mountain, as Kris carefully climbs their way up to them via a long trail of handholds. Several more pillared mountains stand tall in the distance, and the whole area is thick with vapor from the waterfalls.
Berdly calls down, “Yeah, hurry up, Kris!”
Panel 3 - An angled overhead shot as Kris struggles to climb up the mountain, their hand gripping a handhold near the camera. The waterfalls spill around them, sending spray everywhere. “You know, Berdly…this would go much faster…if you would just…*fly* me to the top…” Kris says between breaths, looking clearly annoyed. Below them, the base of the mountain disappears into darkness.
Panel 4 - Middle shot of Berdly as he flippantly casts a wing to the side. “All this moisture’s got my feathers wet! You’ll just weigh me down!” he says, making excuses for himself.
Panel 5 - Kris continues to try and scale the mountain as the waterfalls hiss and spray around them. They grunt, “I have half a mind…to just command you, because…”
Panel 6 - They continue, “These stones are–”
Closeup on Kris’s foot as they balance it precariously on the edge of a foothold. The stones are wet from the waterfall…
Panel 7 - Continued closeup as Kris slips on the wet stone, and falls backwards from the mountainside.
Page 2
Panel 1 - Kris plunges from the mountain into the darkness below, arms outstretched.
Panel 2 - Full shot as Ralsei and all of the beasts stare down in shock to where Kris fell. For a moment, they just stand there, gaping.
Panel 3 - Same shot, although this time, Berdly speaks up. “Heavens to yikes, it’s gonna take *forever* for them to get back up now!”
Noelle, Susie and Ralsei all turn to look at Berdly with annoyed expressions.
Then, a transition panel from light into darkness…
Panel 4 - Wide shot as Kris finally lands, plunging into a deep, still pool of water. Bubbles explode up from their landing in the pool.
Panel 5 - Kris bursts back through the surface of the pool, gasping for breath and splashing water everywhere.
Panel 6 - Wider shot as a wet and bedraggled Kris walks from the deep end of the pool to the shallow shore. Behind them, the waterfalls continue to empty into the pools, spreading mist everywhere.
Page 3
Panel 1 - Kris shakes their body wildly like a dog, trying to dry themself off a bit. Water flies everywhere.
Panel 2 - Wider shot as Kris looks around their new surroundings. The area is dark and remarkably flat. There’s only the softly hissing waterfalls, mist, and darkness.
“Dammit…where am I now?...” Kris asks, mostly to themself.
Panel 3 - Kris turns their head as, off in the misty distance, a ball bounces into their view.
Panel 4 - Wide, broad panel as Kris walks over to observe the object. All around them, the landscape is shrouded in mist and shadow.
Panel 5 - Kris looks down. Sitting on the ground is what appears to be an ordinary soccer ball.
Panel 6 - Kris stares down at the ball with confusion. “A ball…?” they say aloud. They fail to notice a large shadow creeping up behind them…
Panel 7 - …At least until it’s right on top of them. Catti steps out of the darkness, grinning down at Kris. She appears as a large cat beast, with a pink stripe stretching down to her nose, and three earrings on each ear. A halo of spinning orbs, almost like planetary orbits, circles around her head. While her left side appears normal, the right side is pure, wispy black void, dotted with seven cat eyes that peer down at Kris. Kris turns and looks up in shock.
Page 4
Panel 1 - Kris spins around, taken off-guard by the beast’s sudden appearance. “You!--” They then begin to speak a command…
Panel 2 - Mid shot of Catti as the orbs circling her head spin faster, and she traces a line in the air with one claw. Her claw brims with glowing magic. She utters one word: “Hush.”
Panel 3 - Before Kris can finish speaking, the spell strikes at their throat, and their voice is stolen from them.
Panel 4 - In the foreground, Kris grabs at their throat, continuously trying to speak. However, no words come out of them. Behind them, Catti peers closer, narrowing her eyes at them. “A human. Interesting,” she says.
Panel 5 - Full shot as Catti finally steps fully into Kris’s view, revealing one more feature of her: her tail is a separate beast; a grinning snake with bits of plated armor, and dark markings around his eyes. It’s Jockington, and together the two form a chimera.
“Woah Catti, it’s our first, human in soooo long! We can, get a new spell!” Jockington says excitedly.
“Perhaps. Must investigate,” Catti replies. Kris continues to grab at their throat and attempt to speak.
Panel 6 - With that not working, despite Kris’s continued attempts, they reach down and go for their sword.
Panel 7 - “Tsk. None of that,” Catti warns. The orbs again spin around her head, and another magic spell jumps to her void claws with a hiss.
Panel 8 - The spell is a telekinetic one. Kris is lifted off the ground and brought to Catti’s face, their sword falling from their hands as they rise. An aura of magic surrounds them as they’re levitated.
Page 5
Panel 1 - Kris is levitated helplessly, their arms as legs flailing, as Catti gives them a couple sniffs. “Ooh. Young. Strong,” she says, looking interested. “Should get a powerful new spell from you.”
Panel 2 - Kris continues to float about in the foreground. Catti backs up from them suddenly, her face scrunched up and her tongue sticking out. “Uuugh. Demon stink,” she says, clearly disgusted.
Panel 3 - Closeup on Jockington, as he says, “Whaaat? Our first human in, forever, an’ we can’t have ‘em ‘cause some demon owns them? Unradical!”
Panel 4 - Kris hangs upside-down by Catti’s head, still unsuccessfully attempting to speak. Catti turns to Jockington with a sly grin, and says, “Hmph. Finders, keepers.”
Panel 5 - Mid shot as Catti idly paws at the floating Kris, like a cat playing with a feather toy. They spin around helplessly in midair. “Better our dinner than a demon’s toy,” she says, licking her lips.
Panel 6 - Closeup on Jockington as he grins, and unhinges his jaw. “Yeah, yeah! I’m starving!”
Panel 7 - Closeup on Catti as she claws at Kris, giving them a wicked grin. “Pity. Time’s up already.” Kris just stares back at her, still unable to speak.
Page 6
Panel 1 - Full shot as Catti turns back towards Jockington at her rear end. “Farewell, human.” With a flick of her claw and a bit of magic, she levitates Kris over to her snake tail.
Panel 2 - Closeup on Kris in the foreground, as they hover over Jockington. His jaws are unhinged and open wide, ready to swallow Kris whole.
Panel 3 - Kris looks panicked as they’re lowered closer and closer to the snake’s open jaws. They try again and again to say something, but no words come out. They can’t move or speak.
Panel 4 - The orbs again spin around Catti’s head, and she twists magic around her claw, undoing one of her spells. She says, “Hmm. One last scream, before you go.”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris as the spell hits them in the throat once again. They look shocked. They’re still being held by telekinesis, but their voice is back!
Panel 6 - And Kris immediately uses their voice to give the MERCY command as loud as they can. Panel 7 - The command works, and Jockington snaps his jaws shut mere inches from Kris’s face. Kris has their eyes squeezed shut in anticipation, while Jockington looks thoroughly surprised.
Page 7
Panel 1 - Full shot as Catti glances back towards Jockington with confusion. The command was given specifically to the snake tail, and not the cat. “What? Not hungry?” she asks Jockington. Kris, still floating between them, glances back towards her.
Jockington twists in the air, looking thoughtful. “Uhhh they just, said stop, so. Guess not??”
Panel 2 - Catti impatiently holds up a claw, and says, “I am. Open up.” In the foreground, Kris glances behind them. Close to the waterfall that they first swam away from, they can see a large silhouette stalking around…
Panel 3 - In a closer panel, we can see the silhouette is Susie. Her shape is dark against the mist, but her glowing yellow eyes are clear enough.
Panel 4 - Closeup on Kris as they desperately yell out to her: “SUSIE!” They then give her the DEFEND command.
Panel 5 - In the darkness, Susie whips around at the sound of Kris’s voice, her yellow eyes glowing bright with the sudden motion…
Panel 6 - And she charges forward out of the mist and darkness, snarling and stomping.
Panel 7 - Full shot as Susie barrels into Catti, claws pushing against her underside. Susie is much larger than Catti, and easily knocks her and Jockington over. The telekinesis spell over Kris breaks, and they tumble to the ground between the two monsters.
Page 8
Panel 1 - Full shot as Catti gets back to her feet, hissing furiously. Her hackles and hair are all standing on end; a cat cornered and angry. Behind her, Jockington looks bewildered. Susie’s snout remains in the corner of the foreground.
Panel 2 - The two beasts attack each other with their claws, both hissing and snarling. Even though Catti is smaller, she’s not backing down. However, Kris is still caught between the two of them.
Panel 3 - An action panel focused on Kris, struggling to stay upright as enormous paws and claws stomp all around them. “Wait, wait–” they cry out.
Panel 4 - Action panel as Jockington is whipped around by the force of the fight, unable to get his bearings. “Wooooahh hold uuuup!--”
Panel 5 - Action panel as Catti and Susie whirl around each other, baring their teeth, stomping and clawing still. Kris tries to crawl away from the fight under Catti, and find themself under her void side.
Panel 6 - Action panel as Susie leans in to the fight, grabbing Catti by the left hind side. She clearly intends to push them to the ground, but Kris is still scrambling to get out from under them. “Wait, I’m under here–”
Panel 7 - A shadow is cast over Kris as they hold out a hand over them, trying in vain to protect themself. In a last ditch effort, they again give the MERCY command–
Panel 8 - But it’s too late, as in the midst of the fight, Susie pushes Catti on top of Kris. The void half of Catti falls on top of them.
As always, a few thoughts on your work but I just wanna say--god "heavens to yikes" is still so funny.
Anyway, I know it's not the first time we saw catti, but something about this comic really shows off the two faces expression thing, lot of fun with it here.
Also interesting explanation for Susie and catti's rivalry here being this first encounter
Lastly, I was thinking Kris just got crushed and needed to be revived (which itself would be interesting if Susie would regret it at this point), but I'm realizing in the description that they specifically got crushed by the void half of catti, so now I'm very curious what rests inside...
realized that i haven't posted these here yet and only been posting it in Lynx's discord server. qwq Eldritchrune by @lynxgriffin

Kris confronts the shadow in the chest, and manages to stop it before it steals their body. They then escape and deal with Ramb...but the shadow's words still carry a great weight of worry.
Aaaand heck yes, this comic is done! A tricky one to do considering the angles and lighting involved, but hopefully it all works well enough! Sometimes there's scarier things for Kris to deal with than death! ;)
Not sure when the next comic will happen since I need to start scripting it first, but as always, there will be more in the future!

Page 1
Panel 1 - Mid shot as Kris spins around, and tries to swing their sword at the shadow–
Panel 2 - As they do, the magical fire moves around as well with a soft hiss.
Panel 3 - Wide shot as the fire changes position. In doing so, it also changes the mantleholder’s position, and they shiver out of the way, always behind Kris. Kris’s sword strikes the wall with a useless CLANG!
Panel 4 - High angle shot as the mantleholder moves over Kris, its grinning face now over the ceiling. “Heeheehahaha! Not a moment wasted!” it says. “You’re so eager to fight!”
Panel 5 - Low angle shot as Kris spins around to face the shadow, sword still in hand. “I’m not eager to die is all!” they retort.
Panel 6 - The mantleholder splays across a variety of stone blocks, its silhouette contorting across the angled surfaces. It replies, “Is that so? Death is no danger to you, after all!”
Panel 7 - Kris again tries to strike at the shadow, and again the fire changes direction in order to change the shadow. It slithers out of the way, and Kris’s sword again hits the wall. “Not when *he’s* got your soul gripped tight in his claws!” the mantleholder continues.
Panel 8 - “But I can fix that for you!” it says. “All you need to do is hold still for a moment…” Kris grimaces as they stand between the floating fire, and the shadow dancing across the stones behind them.
Page 2
Panel 1 - Low angle as a huge stone block above Kris shudders with a rumble.
Panel 2 - High angle as Kris hears the noise, and looks up, their face shocked–
Panel 3 - The stone drops from the ceiling and slams into the ground with a loud BOOM!
Panel 4 - Kris stands with their arms spread out, pinned against the wall. Only a narrow gap separates them from where the block fell, and their body shakes.
Panel 5 - Wide shot of the chamber as more come: all around, the stone blocks begin to move in every direction. They slide across the floor and walls, drop from the ceiling, shift left and right. Kris is still pinned between the firelight and wriggling shadow.
Panel 6 - High angle shot as Kris tries to run and keep ahead of the moving blocks. The fire keeps pace with them, floating ahead. “There’s no sense in running, Kris! I see what’s burning in your eyes.”
Panel 7 - Kris’s head wheels around as the mantleholder continues to taunt them from the ceiling: “I know how you *anticipate* the violence you’ll bring to your town?”
Panel 8 - “How *good* it’ll feel when you order those beasts to kill them,” it continues. Kris continues to run down the length of the chamber, the blocks dropping and shifting with ominous rumbles all around them.
Page 3
Panels 1-5 - A spread of panels in a kaleidoscope as Kris tries to fight back against the shadow, all while avoiding the blocks. They still only strike the walls as the mantleholder evades their strikes. Kris is starting to look scared and a little desperate. Still, all around, the blocks move from one side of the chamber to the other.
Through it all, the mantleholder taunts them: “And I know there’s something nagging at the back of your mind…something so horrible, you date not speak it!” It says. “What happens *after* the fire dies out? When they’re all dead by your hands…what if there’s *guilt*? Despair? *Regret*?
Panel 6 - The mantleholder spreads its shadow all across the moving blocks of the chamber. It changes its shape to more resemble Ralsei: horns, fiery fur, and glowing eyes. “What *will* he do to you?” the shadow taunts.
Panel 7 - Kris is distracted as the mantleholder shifts across the whole chamber, still retaining Ralsei’s shape. “I can spare you all of it, Kris!” it says.
Panel 8 - Full shot as Kris suddenly turns to their left. A stone block is hurtling towards them at high speed, rumbling against the floor.
Page 4
Panel 1 - Kris tries to run out of the way as the block rushes towards them in a blur of stone–
Panel 2 - But they don’t quite make it. The block slams into the wall with an echoing BOOM, crushing Kris’s lower left arm between the two.
Panel 3 - Kris throws their head back and screams.
Panel 4 - Wide shot as the block then slides away, revealing what remains of Kris’s arm–
Panel 5 - Kris turns and gapes in shock as what was once their arm is now only a shadow, like the mantleholder.
Panel 6 - Another angle as Kris tries to move, but finds that they’re effectively pinned to the wall, as their arm now just exists as a shadow on the surface of the stone.
Panel 7 - “Heeheehahaha, incredible! What a sensation!” the mantleholder cries. Kris turns back to their right…
Panel 8 - And sees the mantleholder grinning maniacly against the wall. However, its left shadow arm has now been replaced with Kris’s arm, sticking comically out of the wall.
Page 5
Panel 1 - “Existing in three dimensions is such a thrill!” the mantleholder says, waving Kris’s arm and wiggling the fingers with excitement.
Panel 2 - High angle as Kris looks on in horror, eyes wide. “What are you doing to me?!” they yell back.
Panel 3 - Wider shot as Kris and the mantleholder face each other, showing how Kris’s arm has effectively traded places with the shadow. “Just hold still a little longer, Kris! It’ll be painless…you can stay here, free from him!” the mantleholder says. “I’ll take your body back and do *all* the same things you’ll do.”
Panel 4 - The mantleholder holds out Kris’s arm as if in offering, still grinning. “They’ll never know it’s not *really* you!” it says.
Panel 5 - Low angle as Kris looks up: another stone block has shifted position and is hurtling down, ready to crush them.
Panel 6 - Kris runs towards camera, dodging the block as it slams into the ground. However, with their arm flattened, they’re forced to run against the wall. The mantleholder continues to slither around the room, taking Kris’s forearm as it goes.
Page 6
Panel 1 - Kris still tries to fight back, but it’s all the harder as they’re pinned to the wall. They swing their sword around at the shadow again, but miss. The fire still burns ahead of them. “All the revenge your heart desires, without the burden of you actually doing it!” the mantleholder continues.
Panel 2 - Kris swings their sword around again, their expression frightened and desperate. They again miss, and their sword strikes the wall.
Panel 3 - The mantleholder grins down from the angled ceiling, waving Kris’s arm from above. “Doesn’t that sound perfect, Kris?” Panel 4 - As another block passes by, Kris finally stops to notice something else: the magical flame burning just ahead of them, always keeping the shadow behind them.
Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris as they study the fire, their face illuminated by its glow. Their eyes narrow as they come to an understanding.
Panel 6 - High angle as another block against the wall starts to slide across to the other end of the chamber. Getting an idea, Kris quickly moves so that their shadow arm falls onto the new surface, peeling them away from the wall.
Panel 7 - Wide shot as the stone block moves across the length of the chamber, with Kris running alongside it so that their arm can remain on the block. The mantleholder grins from the ceiling above.
Panel 8 - Kris runs faster as they approach the fire glowing ahead of them, focusing on their target…
Panel 9 - As they run, almost on top of it, they throw their sword to the ground. It lands with a CLANG!
Page 7
Panel 1 - Furious and desperate, Kris charges right at the glowing flame in front of them, but instead of their sword, they grab their cowl in their right hand and hold it upward, ready to yank it over the flame.
Panel 2 - The mantleholder realizes too late Kris’s actual intentions. It yells out “NO–” and reaches Kris’s hand out as if to stop them…
Panel 3 - But Kris doesn’t listen, and once the block is close enough, they yank their cowl hard over the floating fire, snuffing the flames.
Panel 4 - Wide shot as all the moving blocks in the chamber begin to slide to a stop, including the one that Kris is attached to. Without the light, the shadow behind them has vanished. “Whatever you are…DIE!” they shout.
Panel 5 - A last few flickering embers remain on Kris’s cowl, and from that light, the mantleholder’s shadow stretches across Kris’s own body. “So, you reject my offer,” he says, his speech now less steady.
Panel 6-7 - The camera gets closer to Kris’s face as the shadow creeps up, closer, until it’s nearly hugging Kris’s face. He gives Kris his parting words: “Heehee…don’t say I didn’t warn you! At least…you got a little practice at it!”
Panel 8 - Wider shot as Kris is left alone, standing next to the now-still stone block. The fire light has completely gone out, and the mantleholder has vanished, leaving Kris alone in darkness.

Panel 1 - Kris pulls their left arm away from the block…it’s whole once again.
Panel 2 - Lower angle shot as Kris looks down at their arm, shaking and breathing heavily. Their arm is back, but the experience has clearly left them disturbed.
Panel 3 - Kris turns their head, and sees an opening appear in the ceiling…it’s their way out of the chamber.
Panel 4 - In a wide angle, Ramb paces back and forth in front of the open chest. He’s clearly waiting for something to finish.
Panel 5 - However, he turns his head suddenly as, in the foreground, Kris’s hand grabs onto the edge of the chest with a clink!
Panel 6 - Kris pulls themself up and out of the chest, gripping their sword in their right hand. Their expression is furious.
Panel 7 - Ramb was clearly not expecting this outcome. Trembling, he holds his arms out and says, “K-Kris! Luv!! You…”
Panel 8 - “Got yourself out of that place, huh?” he finishes nervously. Kris, now fully out of the chest, strides toward him with the sword out and fury in their eyes.
Page 9
Panel 1 - Inset layer of a closeup on Ralsei, as he yells out “KRIS!”
Panel 2 - Wide shot as Ralsei, Susie and Noelle all walk up to Kris and Ramb by the open chest. They’ve finally found where Kris has gone.
Panel 3 - Ramb turns back to Kris, shaking and scrunching himself up with worry. The beasts and demon prince are now directly behind him, and Kris stands ahead of him. “Oh, Kris, I know you’re upset. But…can you blame me?” he asks.
Panel 4 - “A creature like me’s got so few options…your soul’s such a rare opportunity, I-I had to give it a go…” he continues, trying to plead with Kris. Kris still looks furious.
Panel 5 - Closeup on Ralsei as he again tries to work out the situation. “What’s happened?” Panel 6 - Kris ignores him, and instead just points at the shaking Ramb. Noelle trots up behind the mutilated minion. Kris just speaks her name, and gives her the FIGHT command.
Panel 7 - Closeup on Noelle’s face as icy frost begins to spill from her open mouth…she’s preparing to use her freezing spell.
Page 10
Panel 1 - High angle as Noelle peers down at Ramb, frost and ice still gathering around her. Ramb holds his hands up, shaking, as he stares up at her in horror. “P-please…Kris, please sp–”
Panel 2 - His stuttering plea is cut off. Noelle rears back, and a blast of freezing magic shoots from her mouth.
Panel 3 - The blast hits Ramb, and he is instantly frozen in a chunk of ragged ice with a loud, icy CRAAAAKKK.
Panel 4 - But Noelle is not done. Kris watches, stone faced, as Noelle rears up on her hind legs over the frozen Ramb…
Panel 5 - And then brings her front hooves down on him, smashing him into dozens of frozen chunks.
Panel 6 - Susie walks up and sniffs at the frozen chunks of Ramb, looking a little disappointed. “Aw man, could’ve had a fresh snack…”
Panel 7 - “Eh, no use crying over it. Frozen’s still good,” she concludes, and laps up a piece of ice with a smile.
Panel 8 - In the background, Noelle, Susie and Berdly all help themselves to the remains of the frozen minion, ice crunching between their teeth and beaks. Kris watches them from the foreground, while Ralsei walks up to stand beside them.
Page 11
Panel 1 - Full shot as Kris stands close to the open chest, trembling all over. Ralsei notices, and puts a hand on their shoulder. “You’re shaking. What did he try to do?” he asks.
Panel 2 - Kris turns away from Ralsei, still shaking a bit. “Nothing. It’s nothing.”
Panel 3 - Closeup on Kris and Ralsei - Kris still looks rather worried, while Ralsei has his own concerns about Kris not speaking up. He elects not to bother them about it, though.
Panel 4 - Ralsei turns away as well. “I see. Well, there’s no need to fret over it. You’re safe now!” he says, trying to sound encouraging.
Panel 5 - Kris suddenly turns back around, their eyes wide–
Panel 6 - Against Ralsei’s robes, their lower left arm again looks like it’s turned to shadow.
Panel 7-8 - Extreme closeup as Kris shuts their eyes tight, then opens them again…
Panel 9 - Their arm looks normal as always. Was it a trick of their mind?
Panel 10 - Mid shot as Kris hugs their left arm to their chest, looking disturbed. Ralsei keeps one hand at their back, standing close to them. “You’ll always be safe with me,” he says. The frame cuts off the top half of his head, revealing only a familiar smile.
Can definitely see why that would have taken a while to do that fight, but definitely worth it. The shadow play and arm loss is so cool!
Anyway for more thoughts:
*I really like how the burning eyes here are turned into Kris' very real, very concrete thoughts of revenge
* again, the eram shadow concept is fun, especially with the moment of turning into ralsei
*given that the ending was conceptualized pre chapter 3 and I assume didn't initially have armless Kris (now? Who knows) I like the way it was incorporated into this fight
*given that ramb doesn't seem automatically aware of what happened to eram, I'm curious what exactly his relationship with eram was to trap someone in that chest, seemingly to no real benefit to ramb himself.
*Lastly between what ramb/eram did and what tenna does later, God poor Kris gets put through the emotional ringer in Eldritch chapter 3. Half surprised they didn't run ramb through themselves first.
Eldritchrune - Into the Shadows

Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost
While camping out in Tenna's realm, Ramb lures Kris away from the Fun Gang with promises of a special artifact that can free them. But, it's all a ploy to trap Kris in an extradimensional chamber with a strange shadow entity! Can they escape??
This is a comic I was expecting to be on the shorter end, but oops, it ended up being rather involved to draw. You'll see why moreso in the second part, which will be out tomorrow!
Either way, excited to finally share this one!

Page 1
Panel 1 - A wide shot of the whole Fun Gang seated around a campfire. The landscape around is bleak, with enormous, curtain-like trees holding up the sky, their surfaces shiny. They’re in Tenna’s domain. Kris and Ralsei sit facing each other, the campfire between them. Susie and Noelle lay together on Kris’s right, and Berdly sits on Kris’s left.
Panel 2 - A small panel as Kris looks over to their right incredulously–
Panel 3 - Where Susie and Noelle are busy “making out,” in as much as giant beasts do so. They’re completely occupied licking at each others’ faces by the firelight’s glow.
Panel 4 - A little put off, Kris also looks to their left–
Panel 5 - Where Berdly is very busy preening under his wing. He makes obnoxious noises as he furiously cleans up old, tattered feathers.
Panel 6 - A full shot as Kris and Ralsei continue to face each other across the fire. Kris sighs, and turns around to look out into the wilderness.
Panel 7 - A wide shot showing that there is someone out there. A figure with a broken face stands on a crest of the horizon, watching the party.
Panel 8 - Closeup on Kris as they look back at the figure, a little surprised, but not saying anything. Their figure is framed by the fire’s glow.
Page 2
Panel 1 - Wider shot as Kris starts to stand up from their sitting position. “I’m going to go for a walk,” they say. Susie and Noelle ignore this, and continue to lick at each others’ snouts.
“You shouldn’t wander off, Kris! Tenna’s minions are all around out there!” Ralsei warns.
Panel 2 - Full shot as Kris walks away from the camera, waving their right hand dismissively at Ralsei’s warning. “I am armed. I won’t go far,” Kris says.
Panel 3 - Inset panel with a closeup on Ralsei. He looks concerned and a little peeved, but says nothing.
Panel 4 - Very wide shot as Kris heads far away from the camp, cresting the spot where the figure was and walking forward to meet them. Ralsei and the rest of the beasts remain huddled around the fire. The strange trees surround the landscape.
Panel 4 - Full shot as Kris faces the figure: it’s Ramb, the lost werewire. He has most of the usual, wiry body of a werewire, but his face has been melted away. Only an eerie cross-section of where it once was remains. “You’ve been skulking around our camp for awhile,” Kris says. “Didn’t I tell you to leave?”
Ramb waves a hand in greeting. “Kris, luv! So glad that you’ve come around to chat!”
Panel 5 - Mid shot as Kris faces down Ramb, clearly suspicious of him. “You won’t be glad if I don’t like what you have to say. Why are you still here?”
Page 3
Panel 1 - Closeup on Ramb as he explains himself. He says: “Ah, Kris, direct as always! I understand your hesitance to speak with me, considering our previous encounters. That’s why I’d like to make it up to you!”
Panel 2 - Kris remains suspicious, and crosses their arms. “And how do you intend to do that?”
Panel 3 - Full shot as Ramb starts to circle around Kris, his weak hands held out as if carefully explaining something. “I’ve seen how you are with your party, Kris! That demon prince, Ralsei…he speaks so highly of you!” Ramb says. “It helps take the edge off, dunnit?”
“The edge?” Kris asks warily.
Panel 4 - Ramb comes up behind Kris, and Kris watches him carefully, their expression dour. “Of his *ownership* of you, luv. It must be weighing on you,” Ramb says.
Panel 5 - Closeup as Ramb leans in closer to Kris. “I know what you *really* want, Kris…*FREEDOM*.”
Panel 6 - Kris turns away from Ramb, their expression now more resigned. “That’s not possible for me,” they respond.
Page 4
Panel 1 - Full shot as Ramb continues to walk around Kris, arms still stretched out. He says, “Ah, Kris, this world’s got more possibility than you think…even for you!”
Panel 2 - Closer shot as Ramb turns around to face Kris again, delivering his offer. “I’ve found something precious. Something that’ll break the shackles of your contract,” he says. “Give you real freedom!”
Panel 3 - Mid shot of Kris as they narrow their eyes, remaining suspicious. “Why should I believe you?” they ask.
Panel 4 - Full shot as Ramb faces Kris. “Well, certainly you don’t *need* to. But why not see for yourself?” he offers. “What’ve you got to lose but your servitude?”
Panel 5-6 - Two closeup inset panels as Kris considers this. They look a little worried, but at last willing to try something. “Fine. I will see,” they say.
Panel 7 - Full shot as Kris starts to walk after Ramb. “But if I sense even a hint of a lie from this, I will not hesitate to kill you,” Kris says, still suspicious.
Ramb points ahead, unbothered by the threat. “As you wish, Kris!”
Page 5
Panel 1 - Wide shot as Ramb leads Kris further into the strange wasteland. They’re heading further away from the campsite. “It’s just over here!” Ramb says, pointing.
Panel 2 - The two stop and look over their destination: a spot where one of the curtain trees has broken off, leaving its roots and branches a tangled, dangerous mess. At the foot of the tree stands an enormous iron treasure chest.
Ramb says, “A mantle of shadow…an ancient relic that breaks the chains of fate!”
Panel 3 - Full shot as Kris and Ramb approach the chest. It’s a large chest, easily almost Kris’s height. Ramb carefully pries the lid open.
Panel 4 - Overhead shot as Kris looks down into the chest. The bottom disappears into a black void.
Panel 5 - Kris peers closer at the chest, unsure. “There’s only darkness,” they say.
Panel 6 - Mid shot as Kris continues to look in the chest. Ramb stands just behind them, and says, “A mantle of shadow, of course! Just reach in and take it!”
Panel 7 - Kris scrunches up their face in distrust…
Panel 8 - But reaches forward into the chest anyway. Their hand seems to vanish into the blackness.
Panel 9 - Kris tries to lean in further into the enormous chest to touch the bottom. They have to lift one foot off the ground in order to reach. Ramb circles behind them…
Page 6
Panel 1 - Ramb then gives Kris a solid kick with their back leg. They tumble headfirst into the chest.
Panel 2 - A long, almost page-length panel as Kris falls into what seems like a bottomless pit.
Panel 3 - High above, Ramb peers into the chest after them, as if seeing them down an impossibly long corridor. He yells out, “Cheers!”
Panel 4 - Kris continues to free fall through what feels like nothing–
Panel 5 - Before they suddenly land on their feet, upright, on some flat ground.
Panel 6 - Kris swivels their head back upwards, arms outstretched, their expression furious. They scream, “RAMB!!”
Page 7
Panel 1 - There’s nothing. What was once a tunnel stretching back up to the surface now leads only into complete darkness.
Panel 2 - In the blackness, a disembodied voice says, “Welcome, Kris.”
Panel 3 - Kris starts at the sound of the voice, eyes wide.
Panel 4 - Full shot as Kris looks around, and shouts back, “Who’s there?!” They appear to be surrounded by perfectly cube-shaped blocks.
Panel 5 - Wider shot as Kris looks around for the voice, which again speaks to them: “You don’t know? Oh, but you should! After all, I know *you* quite well.” While it’s still very dark, the space Kris is in appears to be an endless hallway, filled with enormous stone blocks clinging to the floor, walls and ceiling…a geometric maze.
Panel 6 - “Show yourself!” Kris yells back, putting a hand on their sword hilt. They’re ready to fight, even in darkness.
Panel 7 - A black panel with only the voice’s words: “Heehee…can’t see in the dark, can you?”
Panel 8 - Just ahead of Kris, a glowing flame springs to life, providing some illumination. The flame magically floats in the air, lighting just enough of the room for Kris to see a bit.
Page 8
Panel 1 - A single wide panel as the fire in the foreground reveals something else. A shadow springs up behind Kris, its form contorted in various ways across the stone blocks of the chamber. It’s got long claws, sharp horns, and a wicked, toothy smile. Kris just barely turns, unable to quite see the shadow springing up from them.
“Then let’s illuminate some things!” says the mantleholder.
Okay. Few reactions to this, but first I just wanna say, I really love Kris' expression as they shout to ramb just combining surprise and anger. Great art as always!
I like the detail that Berdly is still next in line for Eldritch beasts since he was the next lightner we saw after Noelle
I assume the meetings boiled down to Ralsei and/or the other beasts scaring him off, but I'm very interested in the particulars of ramb's precious encounters with Kris, and also why he is seemingly deliberately serving eram here (though that may be a bio detail I forgot)
I know Kris has had to fight on their own before/after this (Jevil and tenna coming to mind), but I'm kind of curious in general how much they can back up that threat for an average monster without reloads. Granted. Ramb is not the most intimidating beast on his own. But also, eram might demand it of them here...
And lastly, I know it was already shown in his bio but God that's such a cool design concept for eram. Even if Kris has to survive eventually. I'm kind of curious if ralsei's revives can reach them in this chest or not...

Eldritchrune - A Long Drink Of Water
Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost
While traversing a barren landscape, Kris finds some much needed water...only to discover that it's the dwelling of the vengeful water elemental, Miss Mizzle! When Ralsei can't stop a drowning curse placed on Kris, it's up to Susie to find a different solution...
Yaaaay got another full comic done here! Water sure does seem to be a Recurring Idea in the OG Deltarune, doesn't it? This was a pretty long one, but I decided to keep this all in one comic instead of splitting it into two!

Page 1 Panel 1 - Wide shot as the Fun Gang walks across a barren, rocky expanse, still on their way through the dark world. Kris walks in front, with Ralsei just behind them, and Susie, Noelle and Cattington following behind. Berdly also flies overhead. Panel 2 - Closeup on Berdly as he looks down and notices something: “Hey, hey Kris! There’s water!” Panel 3 - Overhead shot as Berdly flies towards their destination: a deep pool of water in a clearing between the rocks. “Looks clean, too!” Panel 4 - Closeup on Kris as they say, “Finally. I am parched…” They look tired, but relieved that there’s water. Panel 5 - Wider shot as Kris runs ahead of the rest of the Fun Gang, towards the pool. All of the others follow, but further behind. Panel 6 - A small panel of Kris stopping at the pool’s edge. They get on their hands and knees, lean over and start to scoop water into their mouth with one hand. Panel 7 - High angle shot as the beasts continue towards the pool. “Hmmm. Thirsty,” remarks Catti quietly. Noelle turns to her and says, “It *has* been awhile since we’ve found clean water…”
Page 2 Panel 1 - Side shot as Susie and Ralsei continue towards the pool. Susie is focused ahead, but Ralsei instead looks to the side. Several cuptains are skittering nearby: harmless creatures, essentially wooden bowls with carved faces, walking on spindly insect legs. However, Ralsei narrows his eyes at them with suspicion. “Hmmm…” Panel 2 - Mid shot of Kris continuing to drink from the pool. They stop and look on in surprise as the water’s surface starts to bubble and ripple. Panel 3 - Kris’s reflection in the water continues to distort as more bubbles and ripples appear… Panel 4 - Only for a ghostly, watery figure to rise out of the water out of their reflection. The figure appears skeletal in the face, but otherwise appears made out of the same water as the pool, with dripping, flowing hair. Panel 5 - The water elemental, Miss Mizzle, reaches up out of the pool and grabs a shocked Kris by the shoulders. Panel 6 - Kris then topples over, and is pulled into the pool with a SPLASH! Only their feet stick out of the water briefly. Panel 7 - Mid shot as the beasts see this and react with shock and surprise. Noelle, Susie and Ralesi all yell HEY!! / KRIS! As they vanish. Ralsei reaches out a hand towards them.
Page 3 Panel 1 - Mid shot under the water, as Miss Mizzle pushes Kris down. She says, “Brash and uncharitable human! You believe you are worthy of drinking from my pool without my express permission?!” Panel 2 - Closeup on Kris’s frightened face as they try and struggle against the elemental, attempting to pry her arms off. She keeps an iron grip, though. “My waters are pure and holy, and given only by my generous will!” she says. “You shall be punished for your drought of charity!” Panel 3 - Reverse shot of Miss Mizzle’s skeletal face as she continues to drag Kris down, a cloud of bubbles surrounding them. “I curse you! I curse you now and forever, human!” Panel 4 - Kris’s face grows more desperate as they try in vain to hold their breath. “For as long as the crystal water sings in my pool…you shall drown in my glory!” Panel 5 - Kris can’t hold on any longer. Their eyes roll up and a huge cloud of bubbles escapes from their mouth, indicating that they’ve drowned. Miss Mizzle finally lets go of their shoulders. Panel 6 - Wide shot as Kris, now drowned, sinks lifelessly down to the bottom of the pool. Miss Mizzle hovers over them, watching.
Page 4 Panel 1 - Wide overhead shot as the beasts and Ralsei all watch the pool carefully. There’s no sign of movement from the water. “They’re…they’re not coming back up…” Noelle says. Panel 2 - Suddenly, Kris’s soul appears in Ralsei’s hand, glowing red. “Oh, no…they must’ve drowned!” Ralsei says. Panel 3 - Full body shot as Ralsei waves his hand around Kris’s soul, causing thick magic smoke to surround it. His ability to bring Kris back from the dead is needed. “It’s fine, I’ll just revive them…” Panel 4 - Wide shot as Ralsei finishes the spell, and Kris pops back in front of him, alive once again. The beasts all surround them and look on, with Noelle and Cattington on one side, and Susie and Berdly on the other. Panel 5 - Mid shot as Ralsei claps Kris on the back. They shake a little bit, looking upset about something. Ralsei smiles and says, “Welcome back, Kris! What happened down–” Panel 6 - Ralsei’s interrupted by Kris suddenly lurching forward and coughing up a huge mouthful of water.
Page 5 Panel 1 - Full shot as Kris leans over, continuing to cough and hack up water. They clutch at their chest and stomach. “Yikes, I guess you still had some left!” Ralsei says, a little surprised. Panel 2 - Closeup as Ralsei pats Kris on the shoulders. “Don’t worry, Kris, just cough it all out…” Kris does so, continuing to cough up water. Panel 3 - Wider shot as the beasts peer in closer at Kris and Ralsei. There’s an awkward silence as Kris bends over, continuing to cough out water. It’s starting to pool at their feet. Panel 4 - Closeup on Kris’s stricken, horrified face. Water is pouring out of their mouth, and now out of their nose and eyes. They can’t stop coughing and gagging. Panel 5 - Closeup on Ralsei, who now looks concerned. “...Kris?...” he asks cautiously. Panel 6 - Kris collapses onto their hands and knees, water pouring out of them ceaselessly, as their coughs and gags grow more ragged and desperate. Panel 7 - In the foreground, Kris continues to hack up water without stopping. Susie looks at them with worry and confusion in her expression. “What’s happening…”
Page 6 Panel 1 - Full shot as Kris finally collapses into the puddle, unable to hold themself up anymore. Even their coughs become sad, desperate gurgling. Ralsei leans back in shock as Noelle and Cattington look on from behind. Panel 2 - Closeup on Kris as they finally stop moving, their eyes once again rolling up. Water continues to drip from their face as they stop breathing altogether. Panel 3 - Wide shot of Kris as they lie dead in the puddle of water. Their soul rises up out of their body as Ralsei and Susie look over them. “They just died again?!” Susie says in disbelief. Panel 4 - Closeup as Ralsei yanks the soul back and holds it in his claws. “I-it’s fine, I’ll just…just revive them–” he says, but his expression is full of confusion and anxiety. Panel 5 - Full shot as Ralsei again brings Kris back to life. Their body vanishes from the ground with a *poof* and then reappears in front of Ralsei with a POP! They’re alive once again. Panel 6 - Mid shot as Ralsei cautiously hovers over Kris. Kris looks miserable, and is still shaking. “Kris? Are you–” Panel 7 - They’re not okay. Before Ralsei can finish his question, they again spew out a mouthful of water and begin coughing.
Page 7 Panel 1 - Noelle rears back, her expression horrified. “They won’t stop drowning!” she says aloud. Panel 2 - Mid shot of Ralsei and Kris. Kris is once again on their hands and knees, and once again coughing and hacking up seemingly endless amounts of water. “This…this shouldn’t happen!” Ralsei says, his expression anxious. Panel 3 - Closeup on Kris as water once again pours out of their mouth, their nose, and their eyes. “H-help…me…” they manage to whisper between bouts of coughs. Panel 4 - Noelle turns towards Cattington, stomping one hoof. “We gotta do something!” she says. Panel 5 - Up in the sky, Berdly flying overhead offers his thoughts: “Uhh…maybe it’ll stop if they die some other way?” “I can do that!” says Susie, and she opens her jaws wide over Kris, who is still on their hands and knees coughing up water in the foreground. Panel 6 - Susie snaps her jaws shut over Kris with a sharp CHOMP! Ralsei, who was still attempting to comfort Kris, looks up at her with an angry expression. “HEY!”
Page 8 Panel 1 - Mid shot as Susie chews up Kris’s body, looking mildly pleased with herself. A single leg sticks out from her jaws, and blood leaks from between her teeth. Panel 2 - Mid shot as Ralsei yanks Kris’s soul back to himself with a bit of force. He looks frustrated at Susie’s brash move. “Susie, that’s *not* what we need right now!” he says. Panel 3 - In a full shot, Ralsei again brings Kris back to life with a POP! Kris looks truly miserable. Panel 4 - There’s a moment of silence as Kris shakes again, clutching their chest… Panel 5 - And they once again resume hacking up water. It seems unstoppable. Panel 6 - “Idiot,” Catti snarls in Susie’s direction, baring her teeth. From behind her, Jockington adds, “You, made it worse!” Noelle steps in to defend Susie, saying “She was just trying to help!” Panel 7 - Full shot as Berdly, still flying above, quips “Why does *Susie* always get to eat them?!” Susie looks on from below with a snarl, clearly unhappy that her idea didn’t work.
Page 9 Panel 1 - Susie backs down a little bit, and in looking away from Kris, notices the cuptains still scurrying around the edges of the pool. They chirp excitedly to each other: “Our lady! Our lady!” “Our lady has cursed the unchivalrous human!” Panel 2 - Focus on the cuptains as they skitter back and forth with each other, still chirping their praises aloud: “Blessed be our lady!” “May her pool never run dry!” “The human will drown forevermore, praise be to our lady!” Panel 3 - Susie glances back towards the pool, which is still crystal clear. Panel 4 - In the background, Ralsei continues to try and hold Kris up as they cough up endless water. In the foreground, Susie narrows her eyes at the pool…she’s gotten an idea. Panel 5 - Wide shot as Susie starts to walk to the other end of the pool. Ralsei and the other beasts are still focused on the drowning Kris.
Page 10 Panel 1 - Susie makes it to the other end of the pool, and says aloud, “Hey, miss beautiful water lady? You in there? I’m *sooo* thirsty…can I pretty please have a drink from your nice pool?” Her expression indicates that she’s clearly up to something. Panel 2 - Closeup on the pool, as Miss Mizzle slowly rises out of a ring of ripples. Panel 3 - Susie watches closeup from the shore as Miss Mizzle appears, and speaks to her: “Great beast, your honeyed words show the deference due a princess. I am not so vain as to scorn due reverence.” Panel 4 - Closeup on the skeletal face of Miss Mizzle as she finishes: “You may sip until your thirst is slaked.” Panel 5 - Susie gives a quick “Thanks” before sticking her snout into the pool and starting to drink. Panel 6 - In the foreground, Kris still miserably coughs up water. Ralsei is trying to hold them still through the racking coughs. In the background, Susie sits at the pool’s edges and steadily gulps down water.
Page 11 Panel 1 - Closeup on Susie as she drinks from the pool without stopping. Panel 2 - Full shot as Kris lies dead once again in a pool of coughed-up water. Ralsei reaches out and catches their soul to once again revive them from the dead. In the background, Catti looks towards Noelle with uncertainty. Panel 3 - Susie continues to drink from the pool, but now, the water level has decreased quite a bit. Panel 4 - Wide shot to show that the pool’s water has decreased by almost a quarter. Susie has to lean further and further into the pool to drink, but she doesn’t stop. Miss Mizzle reaches out towards her from the center of the pool. “Wicked beast, you have deceived me! Do you intend to drink my pool dry?” Panel 5 - Closeup on Susie as she offers a wicked grin. “I’m. Still. Thirsty.” she responds inbetween continued gulps of water. Panel 6 - Mid shot of Kris and Ralsei, with Ralsei holding on tight to Kris. Kris is still hacking up water, but it’s not as much water as before. Panel 7 - All through it, Susie continues to drink, and the pool continues to shrink.
Page 12 Panel 1 - Closeup on Kris and Ralsei, Ralsei still holding Kris tightly. Kris miserably hacks up water, but now there’s still less to cough up. They’re starting to get some wheezing breaths inbetween the coughs. Panel 2 - Closeup on Miss Mizzle. She raises her hands in horror, her liquid form dripping from her anguished expression. “Wretched, bottomless creature! Cease! Cease your cruel assault!” Panel 3 - Full shot as Susie is now deep into the pit, still drinking. There’s only about a quarter of the pool left now, and she’s still going. “Is the whole of my glory to be washed down your gullet?!” cries Miss Mizzle. Panel 4 - Closeup on Susie as she continues to drink without answering. Panel 5 - Overhead shot as Susie is almost done with the entire pool. She now stands in water that’s barely a foot deep, still drinking the rest. Miss Mizzle swims miserably in front of her in the shallow puddle that’s left. Panel 6 - Focus on Miss Mizzle as she raises her claws hands towards Susie drinking up the remaining water. “A hundred thousand curses upon you, beast!” cries the elemental. “Wicked, vile animal! I perish with only venom in my heart!”
Page 13 Panel 1 - Closeup on Susie as she finally slurps up the rest of the water. Miss Mizzle’s form loses cohesion and becomes a writhing mass of splashing water. “Cure yooou…eeeeeeee…” rings out from the water. Panel 2 - Susie throws her head back, and finishes off the rest of the water with a final gulp. Panel 3 - Wide shot as Susie stands at the bottom of the now-empty pool, trying to catch her breath. The cuptains scurry down into the dry ditch, helpless to do anything. Panel 4 - Susie goes to climb back up out of the ditch. And she does, the cuptains skitter around the pool bottom, bemoaning their lost princess: “Our lady…” “It has killed her…” “Drank up our lady…” “Our lady…” Panel 5 - Susie climbs carefully up to the top of the pool, her expression tired and annoyed. “Uugh, stupid water lady…” she groans. “Now’m all sloshy inside…feels gross–” Panel 6 - “SUSIE! Susie, you did it!” Noelle runs up excitedly to Susie and declares. Her appearance shocks Susie, and she almost loses her grip and falls back into the pit.
Page 14 Panel 1 - Full shot as Noelle turns back to the others, and says, “Kris stopped drowning!” Berdly and Cattington watch on and Ralsei holds Kris by a large puddle of water. Panel 2 - Focus on Ralsei and Kris. Ralsei holds them as Kris takes deep, gasping breaths. They’re exhausted and miserable, but they’re alive. Panel 3 - Susie finishes climbing out of the pool and hurries over to Kris, with Noelle not far behind her. Panel 4 - Full shot as Susie hovers over Ralsei and Kris. “It…it worked?” she asks, as if almost unable to believe it herself. The other beasts also look to her. “It did, Susie!” says Ralsei. Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris as they shakily reach out a hand towards Susie… Panel 6 - And place it gently on her snout. Panel 7 - "Th…th-thank…y-you…” Kris says, keeping their hand on her snout. They’re exhausted, but their expression shows genuine relief and gratitude.
Page 15 Panel 1 - Closeup on Susie as they remain staring, with Kris’s tiny hand still on her snout. She looks surprised, a little overwhelmed, and relieved herself. She actually *did* help save them. Panel 2 - Kris pulls their hand away, still weak from the constant drowning. They take in steady breaths. “There, there…it’ll be okay,” says Ralsei, still holding them. Panel 3 - Wider shot as the beasts all still crowd around Kris, watching them closely. “Kris, is there anything we can get you?” asks Ralsei. Kris weakly says, “M…my throat’s so dry…” Panel 4 - Very wide shot with everyone gathered around Kris. The bleak landscape still stretches before them. The pool ahead of them is now empty. “D-dammit,” Kris says quietly. “I want some water.”
God now only is it cool to see miss mizzle and how messed up she is. But that moment between Kris and Susie at the end is so cute. Ahhhh!
I am unbelievably sleep deprived right now, and it somehow has given me quite possibly the most ridiculous scenario imaginable:
Eldritch Susie trying to catch their tail
Oh hey, she can reach it!
...But what's she supposed to do with it now??
tem do things
Kris I’m ready for some tasty morsels

Eldritchrune - Damn You Tenna

Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost
Kris seems trapped in Tenna's world of happy memories...but the loss of a happy memory breaks them out of the spell! In the end, Tenna is defeated and another shadow crystal won! They're not at all happy with how any of this has transpired, though.
Once again, so glad to finally have this big boss battle done! Next scene to do will hopefully be something a little simpler! It was a lot of fun to work Tenna's mannerisms and a bit of his backstory into this universe, though!

Page 1
Panel 1 - Wide shot of the ice chamber as Tenna raises his arms in triumph. “They’re another notch in Mr. Ant Tenna’s score!” he declares, showing a strange silhouette of a curled-up Kris on his mirror face. “Another BRILLIANT show comes to a successful end…great job, everyone!” In the foreground, all three beasts look towards the bound god, now no longer distracted.
Panel 2 - Focus on Ralsei as he raises a hand towards Tenna, his expression angry but determined. “Not so fast! Their soul belongs to me! Even if you’ve killed them, I will revive them!”
Panel 3 - Closeup on Tenna. He looks down at Ralsei, and says, “Now hold your horses! Who said anything about killing them?”
Panel 4 - A shot from behind Tenna, showing a number of the egg capsules on his abdomen, many with human forms inside. He glances behind him towards the capsules and says, “In fact, they should be ready right about…”
Page 2
Panel 1 - Closeup on the egg capsules clinging to the carapace, many of them showing humans curled up inside. Some look emaciated, and some are now only bones. A new capsule squeezes itself up from between the others…
Panel 2 - …Only to show Kris curled up in a fetal position inside, hugging their knees to their chest and smiling.
Panel 3 - Full shot of Tenna triumphantly noting the fully encapsulated Kris on his raised ant abdomen. His mirror face echoes the scene, showing Kris curled up in a capsule. “*There’s our Kris! All tucked in and ready for an extended stay with their *favorite* god!”
Panel 4 - Medium shot as Ralsei yells up at Tenna: “You can’t keep them trapped there forever!”
Panel 5 - Tenna looks back down at Ralsei and replies, “FOREVER? Well, no. Not *that* long.”
Panel 6 - Wide shot as Tenna stares down at the gathered beasts and Ralsei, all of whom look uncertain. “But a number of weeks, likely even months…maybe even years!” Tenna says.
Page 3
Panel 1 - “However long it takes to relive *all their happy memories!” Tenna continues. Kris remains curled up inside the capsule, looking perfectly content with their predicament.
Panel 2 - Wider shot as Tenna taunts the waiting beasts, clearly thinking he’s won the fight. “Do all you beasts really want to hang around and wait *that* long? I *could* distract you…but I get the feeling you’ll all wander off long before I’m done with Kris.”
Panel 3 - Susie looks frustrated and incredulous. “We’d have to wait *months*?!” she asks.
Noelle turns to her and says, “We…we can’t get to the light world without Kris!”
Panel 4 - “What do we do?” she continues into the next panel. Closeup on a smiling, content Kris as their world fades into one of dreams and happy memories…starting with an image of Kris chasing after their older brother.
Page 4
A full page of happy memories from Kris, all of them mixed and blending into each other. There’s the moment the Dreemurrs bring Kris home, with Asriel inviting them into the house. Kris happily running ahead in new clothes while Asriel trails after them. Toriel offering them a whole pie and ruffling their hair. Asgore showing Kris different kinds of plants in his garden. Kris playing a prank on Alphys the tutor with a water bucket balanced over a door, and Asriel smiling behind them. Asriel trying to read, and Kris swinging in from a tree branch upside-down to surprise him. And finally, there’s a memory of Kris hugging both of their parents tight, all of them looking happy. In the center of the mix of memories, Kris is still trapped in the capsule. However, off in the bottom right corner of the page, Seam appears, ripping apart the fabric of memories with their needle. All that’s left behind is a blank, black space.
Page 5
Panel 1 - Closeup on Kris as they suddenly wake back up, eyes wide.
Panel 2 - Realizing they’re trapped in a small space, Kris tries to push against the membrane of the egg capsule. It stretches against their hand but doesn’t yield, as if they’re trapped inside an insect egg.
Panel 3 - Their expression now furious, Kris struggles within the tight space to reach their arm around their legs and grab the sword on their left side.
Panel 4 - Tenna turns his head around to just barely see Kris struggling to escape the capsule. “Wait, what–”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris’s enraged expression as they finally manage to grab ahold of their sword–
Panel 6 - And cut themselves free from the capsule in one upward swing. The membrane bursts around them, spilling fluid everywhere.
Panel 7 - “How did you–!” Tenna starts to ask, trying to look behind him but not quite able to see. Kris crawls out of the destroyed egg capsule and starts down the god’s back…
Panel 8 - Now free, Kris barrels down the back of Tenna’s ant body, their expression furious and the sword swung back to strike again. They yell the ATTACK command three times, expressing their wishes over and over.
Page 6
In a series of panels spread out like shattering glass, the beasts all attack:
Panel 1 - Berdly fires off his sonic scream, creating shockwaves of painful sound.
Panel 2 - The shockwave hits the mirror in Tenna’s right hand, breaking it.
Panel 3 - Susie swings her tail around and smashes the mirror in Tenna’s left hand with a huge KRAAAK.
Panel 4 - Noelle rears forward on her front legs, pulling her hind legs up to kick–
Panel 5 - And drives her kick right into Tenna’s mirror face. Cracks splinter out from the point of impact with a mighty CRAAAAKKK
Panel 6 - Finally, Kris leaps from Tenna’s back with their sword raised high. For a moment, they’re suspended in midair over Tenna’s head…
Panel 7 - Before they land on top of Tenna’s head and drive their sword into the space between the antennae. The carapace cracks, with black ooze leaking out.
Panel 8 - Wide shot as Tenna collapses forward with an echoing BOOM, fully defeated. The beasts and Ralsei step back as dust flies up from the huge creature meeting the ground.
Panel 9 - Downshot as Tenna leans forward, his proboscis and antennae drooping. The shadow crystal falls from the crack in his mirror face and lands on the ground.
Page 7
Panel 1 - Upshot as Tenna lays defeated on the ground, his energy spent. Kris remains on top of his head, sword still driven into their foe. The shadow crystal lays ahead of them. “I d-don’t understand…do you hate me that much?” Tenna asks. “Hate your *memories*?”
Panel 2 - Closeup on Kris as they remain in their kneeled position, hands on their sword, their hair in front of their eyes. They reply, “You are a distraction.”
Panel 3 - “And I have work to do,” they finish, and finally stand up, pulling the sword out of Tenna’s head.
Panel 4 - Tenna remains laying on the ground as Kris hops down from the top of his head and goes to retrieve the shadow crystal.
Panel 5 - Kris remains in front of Tenna’s mirror face, observing the shadow crystal. Their reflection is repeated many times in Tenna’s cracked mirror. He says, “I just. Just wanted to keep you happy.”
Panel 6 - “You’d…you’d throw that away?” he continues. “Throw *me* away?” Kris stands in the foreground, holding the shadow crystal, and gazes back into Tenna’s shattered face. Their reflection looks back at them dozens of times over. However, in some of the reflections, their expression is altered…sometimes angry, sometimes fearful, sometimes exhausted.
Page 8
Panel 1 - Kris replies, “As I said. I won’t be fooled by your illusions.” They turn away and pull the cowl back over their head. Not enough to cover their eyes, but enough to show that they want to shut out the world.
Panel 2 - Wide shot as Kris immediately heads right, towards the chamber exit. The beasts turn to follow, and Ralsei is close behind Kris. Tenna remains collapsed on the ground in the background.
Panel 3 - Wide shot as Ralsei tries to catch up with Kris, who still heads purposefully towards the exit. Susie and Noelle are close behind Ralsei. He says, “I can’t believe it! I thought that god had you truly trapped! How did you break free?”
Panel 4 - Closeup on Kris as they sullenly look forward, shadow crystal in hand. “The happy memory Seam took from me. It broke the chain.”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Ralsei, who looks pleased at this news. He flips out a hand and smiles. “Well…that’s certainly an unexpected benefit! Next time you see them, you should–”
Page 9
Panel 1 - “I *was* truly happy, you know.” Kris snaps back, turning their head back towards Ralsei. Ralsei stops, a little surprised at their curtness.
Panel 2 - Kris turns away again, the cowl and their hair partially hiding their tears. “I felt loved. I felt safe.”
Panel 3 - Berdly, Ralsei, Noelle and Susie all linger back a bit, unsure on what to say or do. Kris was clearly upset by the encounter, and there’s not really any words of comfort to give them.
Panel 4 - Wide shot as Kris walks into the broad exit, towards their next stretch of the dark world. Ralsei watches them go. Susie, Noelle and Berdly also look on from the foreground. As Kris exits, they say, “And I do not appreciate the reminder.”
I love how even here tenna feels so much more pitiable than the other encounters we've seen so far.
Also God. Poor Kris...

Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost Kris and the Fun Gang finally face off against Tenna, bound god of distractions and nostalgia! Unfortunately for the party, they all fall for his tricks long enough for Kris to get captured. Will the beasts be able to rescue them??
Yaaaay FINALLY got this boss battle done! As you can see, this one definitely took awhile to get through, along with all the other work I was doing! But, hopefully it's all worth it to see Tenna working his magic!
Second part for this will be up tomorrow!

Page 1
Panel 1 - In a wide shot, Kris and Ralsei lead the party down a long, sloping hall of reflective, almost mirror-like walls. Trailing behind them, Susie, Noelle and Berdly are ready to take on the challenge ahead.
Panel 2 - Closer on Kris and Ralsei, with Susie in the background behind them. Ralsei raises a warning hand towards Kris, and says, “Kris, wait! Before we face the next bound god…there’s an important thing you need to do to prepare!”
Kris turns to look at him and asks, “What is it?”
Panel 3 - In response to this, Ralsei grabs the cowl around Kris’s shoulders and yanks it up and over their head, covering their eyes. Kris fumbles a bit at the surprise move. “What the–”
Panel 4 - Closeup on Ralsei as he explains to Kris: “This god is adept at ensnaring people with illusions. Your best bet is to not rely on your eyes at all.”
Panel 5 - Kris doesn’t remove the cowl over their head, but awkwardly waves a hand out in front of them, trying to feel the way ahead. “How am I supposed to fight if I can’t see?” they ask.
Panel 6 - From offscreen, Ralsei responds, “Well…you now have three beasts to rely on!” In a medium side shot, Susie, Noelle and Berdly walk and fly on, prepared for a fight.
Page 2
Panel 1 - Wide shot as the party finally arrives at the massive chamber housing the next bound god. The chamber seems composed of sharp, blocky ice, with ice chunks sticking out from both the floor and ceiling. Ralsei, Kris and Susie look on in the foreground. In the middle of the ice stands the bound god Tenna, with ice blocks encasing his back two legs. Tenna resembles a giant ant, with a shiny carapace, sharp, mirror-like legs, a probiscis, and two antenna that include grasping hands. Tenna’s face is fashioned into a giant magic mirror, and he holds two smaller mirrors in his front claws. The top of his ant abdomen is covered in small semi-transparent capsules that could resemble eggs.
Tenna greets the party: “Kris, at last! You’re just in time for the show! Are you ready! For! Hours and hours of WONDERMENT?” His primarily mirror face displays a happy, celebrating human.
Panel 2 - Still with the cowl pulled over their head, Kris raises their sword in defiance of the god. They declare, “I have no time for your nonsense. Give up your shadow crystal and let us pass.”
Panel 3 - Wide shot as Tenna stares down at the party. Despite Kris’s defiant speech…they’re facing the wrong way. There’s a bit of an awkward silence.
Panel 4 - In the same shot, Tenna turns to the camera as if speaking to the audience, and says, “(Looks like our friend Kris here needs a bit of help with their sense of direction!)” His mirror face shows a silhouette of Kris looking confused and shrugging.
Panel 5 - Medium shot as Tenna looks down at Kris. He says, “Now Kris, I’m not like those other HORRORS that want you scared and miserable!” His mirror face shows silhouettes of previous bound gods: King and Queen. In the foreground, Kris is still facing the wrong direction.
Page 3
Panel 1 - Closeup shot on Tenna as he continues his spiel: “I want you to remember the good old days! The laughs! The smiles!” His mirror face now shows silhouettes of three humans laughing and smiling. “That’s why you’re invited to…”
Panel 2 - “Mr. Ant Tenna’s BE FREE TIME!” Tenna rears up in excitement with his declaration, huge and imposing against the rest of the party. In the foreground, Kris, Ralsei and the beasts all face him down.
Panel 3 - In a wide shot, Kris finally points their sword in the correct direction, and gives all of the beasts the ACT command. Susie, Noelle and Berdly all stomp, leap and fly at their foe as directed. Unfortunately, Kris, can’t give specific directions without being able to see.
Panel 4 - Susie stomps over to Tenna’s left arm and begins biting and gnawing on it. However, the arm being made of hard, reflective carapace, she can’t chew through it easily.
Panel 5 - Noelle aims for one of Tenna’s back legs, and begins fiercely kicking and scraping at it with her front hooves. She doesn’t make much headway either.
Panel 6 - Berdly lands on top of Tenna’s head and begins pecking at it incessantly with his beak.
Page 4
Panel 1 - Wide establishing shot as all three of the beasts attempt to assault Tenna at once. Kris and Ralsei remain watching in the foreground. They aren’t doing much damage, but they are clearly a nuisance. “Ooch! Yeouch! All this violence on me…what a sad state this world’s in!” Tenna says. “I think you beasts could use a distraction!”
Panel 2 - Medium shot as Tenna first turns his attention to Susie. She’s still attempting to gnaw away at his left arm, leaving scratch marks but little else. “You look hungry!” Tenna says, and an image of Susie devouring several humans appears on his mirror face.”
Panel 3 - He continues, “How about taking a SNACK BREAK?” Nearby, down and to the side of Tenna’s position, one of the ice structures slides open like two doors. Inside is blackness, with a variety of eyes peering out.
Panel 4 - From the hidden ice compartment, hordes of Tenna’s minions come streaming out: Pippins, Shadowguys, Shuttahs and Zappers, all of them a collection of small horrors. One of the Zappers says, “Don’t worry boss, we’ll defend ya!”
Panel 5 - Susie glances up from her work attacking Tenna and immediately looks interested. Her eyes widen and she licks her lips, grinning.
Panel 6 - Wider shot as Susie charges down to meet the horde of minions…they’re numerous, but not dangerous, and she knows it. Meanwhile, Noelle turns from her attempts to break Tenna’s legs to see what Susie is doing.
Page 5
Panel 1 - Medium shot as Susie immediately begins helping herself to Tenna’s minions. She chomps and chews on a big mouthful of hapless minions with a contented smile on her face, happy to finally get some food. From between her teeth, a far less happy Zapper cries, “B-boss, you didn’t say anythin’ about bein’ cannon foddah!”
Panel 2 - Closeup on Tenna as he shrugs off the complaint: “Your contracts say otherwise!” His mirror face displays a hand signing a contract with a feather pen.
Panel 3 - Wider shot as Noelle looks again to see Susie completely engrossed in devouring minions. They’re surrounding her, attempting to fight back, but she doesn’t even notice.
Panel 4 - Noelle runs up behind Susie, and tries to talk to her: “Susie, we’re supposed to be helping Kris!”
Susie looks completely distracted, not even turning to face her, and replies with her mouth full, “Mmyeah, just as soon as I -GULP …finish off -CHMP …all these guys -GLP.”
Panel 5 - Closeup again on Tenna as he focuses his attention on Noelle. “Oh deer! Maybe got someone else on your mind there?” His mirror face now displays the silhouette of a woman with long hair, her face screaming in horror. “What if we increase the VOLUME?”
Panel 6 - The command seems to strike something with Noelle, as she suddenly stops in a stupor, her single red eye going wide.
Page 6
Panel 1 - Noelle goes berserk, throwing her head back and bucking her back legs in wild panic. She lets out a shriek, as if responding to something only she can hear.
Panel 2 - “STOP IT! STOP SCREAMING!” Noelle screams, and rolls over onto her back, kicking her legs every which way. She’s been overwhelmed by something inside her mind. In the foreground, Susie is still too caught up in contentedly eating to even respond.
Panel 3 - Upshot as Tenna focuses on the final problem: Berdly still flying in to peck at the top of his head. “And you seem the chatty type!” he says to the monstrous bird. His mirror face shows Berdly loudly talking.
Panel 4 - Downshot as Tenna says, “How about you explain to me the lore of this MINECRAP you’re so invested in?” His mirror face displays a collection of blocks. Berdly stops his pecking at the invitation…
Panel 5 - Closeup as Berdly cries, “CAN I?!” his face full of excitement at actually getting to blab about his archaic interests.
Panel 6 - Full shot as Berdly hops off of Tenna and off to the side, where he begins proudly talking about something related to Minecrap. It’s a string of nonsense to everyone but him, but he doesn’t notice, talking nonstop.
Panel 7 - Wide shot as Tenna fully faces Kris, now alone in front of the bound god. The beasts are all off to the side, Berdly on the left and Susie and Noelle on the right. All are too distracted with their own interests to notice Kris alone. “Finally! It’s just you and me, Kris,” Tenna says, with Kris’s form reflected in his mirror face as a silhouette.
Page 7
Panel 1 - Downshot as Kris swings their sword around in a defensive arc. With the cowl still covering their eyes, the swings are completely useless. “I won’t be fooled by your illusions,” they say.
Panel 2 - Wider shot as Tenna leans down closer to the struggling Kris, extending out his proboscis and antennae. “Illusions? Oh, Kris, what mean things *has* that demon been telling you about me?” he asks. His mirror face shows an exaggeratedly mean Ralsei whispering something to Kris.
Panel 3 - “It’s time you saw things more clearly!” Tenna declares. In a closeup shot, the antennae reach down and grab at the cowl covering Kris’s face.
Panel 4 - Ralsei reaches out a hand in warning, and yells, “Kris, watch out!”
Panel 5 - Closeup on Kris. Their defensive swings are useless, and Tenna pulls the cowl off of them, revealing their eyes.
Panel 6 - Kris now sees their silhouette reflected in a beautiful fantasy landscape within Tenna’s mirror face. They’re surrounded by mirrors on all sides, and they’re unable to see anything but the fantasy. “Aren’t you *tired* of seeing horrors your mind can’t grasp, day after day?”
Panel 7 - Inset panel of Kris standing stock still, staring up open-mouthed at the illusion. Their eyes have gone completely white, showing they’ve been hypnotized.
Page 8
Panel 1 - A trippy, colored scene as Kris seems to walk straight into the illusion. Panels and panels of beautiful landscape stretch out in front of them like a tunnel, moving from blue to bright green. They easily walk into the scene. “No more of *that* glum view!” Tenna says. “What you need is paradise, paradise!”
Panel 2 - A wide shot as Kris finds themself overlooking a lush paradise, the illusion tinted green instead of the usual blue-gray. They look down on a serene valley, filled with flowers, full trees, and waterfalls leading into crystal clear pools. In the center of a clearing stand tables laden with all their favorite food and drinks, and a cookfire perfect for relaxing with friends around. Birds and insects made of light flutter through the air.
Panel 3 - “Just relax! Take a load off your mind!” says Tenna. Kris is happy to do so, leaning against a nearby tree branch with a content smile on their face. It’s a far cry from the horrors they’ve been seeing almost daily so far.
Panel 4 - But back in reality, Kris is actually half-asleep. The branch they were leaning on was actually Tenna’s proboscis lifting them off the ground. In the background, Ralsei looks on with horror.
Panel 5 - “KRIS!” Ralsei cries in the foreground, watching as ahead of him, Tenna lifts a relaxed and compliant Kris up towards his face.
Page 9
Panel 1 - Closeup on Ralsei as he rears back, summoning a ball of flame between his claws. “Oh no you DON’T!” he yells, and prepares to fire.
Panel 2 - Focus on Tenna as Ralsei launches the fireball. Tenna blocks the spell with the mirror clutched in his left claw, and the flames bounce off to the side. The mirror also blocks whatever might be happening with Kris.
Panel 3 - Wider shot of Tenna’s chambers. In the background, Ralsei throws another flame spell at Tenna, and he again blocks it with his mirrors. In the foreground, Noelle is still writhing on the ground, but slowing down as the distraction fades. Susie finishes gulping down the remaining minions, and there are now none left.
Panel 4 - Closeup on Susie as she starts to come out of her trance, licking her lips and looking sleepy. “S’ome…good snacks… What were we doing?” she asks.
Panel 5 - Susie looks back towards Tenna, trying to work out what she missed. Behind her, Noelle also shakes off the distraction and tries to sit herself up.
Panel 6 - Closeup on Noelle as she looks up and asks, “Where’s Kris?”
Not tok much to say beyond the fact that it's always cool to see these, but gotta say, turning "TV time" into "be free" time, especially for a shadow crystal holder here, god that's beautiful.
