I’ve stopped doing tutorials after i’ve started making join.me sessions where people could watch me make draw something from scratch—
I’ll make a proper tutorial one day, but here’s a simple lil thing =3=
2. Flat Colors + minor details. All colors are added on different layers, but after finishing i merge all of them into one layer. The lineart layer is still intact though.
3. Lineart coloring (lineart layer is locked and colored, then all layers get merged into one)
4. Shading (the color used depends on the background, but for pictures with white BGs any color can be used. I often go for dull dark red). Multipy layer at 80%.
5. Shadow “blurs”. (I use the Blur tool to blur some parts of the shading. The parts that are blurred are usually rounder parts of the body– it’s hard to explain sorry ;;) Using a Gaussian blur tool is reccomended. I normally don’t do it on the hair– instead, i use the airbrush tool with a eraser configuration to erase some shadows and create a gradient. After that, i merge the layers again.
6. Add the pupils + eyes’ highlighs + hair highlight (Luminosity and Overlay layers)
7. Other highlights and minor details
8. Draw extra loose strands on the hair, add light to the ponytail thingie (fffft sorry i forgot the word). All layers are merged- this process isn’t made in a separate layer. Other small highlights are added, such as on the lips.
9. Final color adjustments (with an overlay layer- i gave her a pinkish hue!) and light airbrushing in some areas. A bit of blur added too.
I sUCK at teaching stuff so sorry if ahything’s hard to understand or if this lil turorial thingie is a bit bad–
The number of layers i use depends on how detailed the picture is. For this pic i’ve used 11 layers– but i always merge them, so in the end i’m left with one or two layers at most. I find it easier to work this way, since i get lost when there are too many layers ;0;
