Odds and Ends
Nodding, she began unbuttoning her ripped blouse, she cursed inwardly, it was her favourite, but she supposed a few stitches would mend the rips with little to no hassle. If not, the girl supposed a bloodied, broken shirt would somehow make her look tougher. Blue recalled when she was younger, her mother would always remind her to look brave even in the face of pure defeat. It was better to go down with defiance than to grovel in submission. She supposed the mentality was strengthened by the years of pirates and such other sentiments. Lost in her thoughts the girl had stopped, mentally shaking the thoughts from her head she finished unbuttoning her shirt.
A wince crossed her features as she shrugged the piece of fabric over her shoulders to reveal the large cut that started on her sternum and finished just above her right hip bone. The remainder of her torso was a flurry of bruises, all different colours and sizes. Sighing gently Blue looked to the boy stood next to her, after a moment of hesitation she spoke “Thank you.” Her eyes quickly fell to her feet “I didn't expect this place to have an infirmary, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before” A few moments of silence passed between the two, which sent Blue reeling back into her thoughts.
A ship, full of people. Alcohol, too much of it, she had gone below deck to sleep it off. A storm, water filling her lungs, panic. And that was it. A large frown darkened her features, her eyes scanning the empty space before her as she attempted to pull back he memory, with her fingertips, her muscles screaming as the pictures faded. Blue looked around dejectedly, the small section of the events that led her here, now a jumble of words swirling around in her mind. She attempted to distract herself, looking back to the boy.
“Is it bad?”
Back At It Again
Although her voice was different, she looked all to familiar to the girl who seemed to always plague Damien’s mind. It didn’t matter what he did, didn’t matter how many girls he slept with or how many times he begged his brain to forget.
She was there, always there, pulsing behind the L shaped tattoo she had engraved herself on the back of his neck.
The smirk quickly faded from Damien’s lips. He had vowed not to interact with any pirates since he lost her. They were all the same, wanting change and willing to give up all they had to hit the seas. They said they cared, but they didn’t. All pirates wanted a thrill, a thrill that was only fulfilled here on Severland until their ship was up and running again. Just by her attire Damien knew the female was a pirate, so he knew he didn’t want to waste his time on her.
“You shouldn’t be walking this side of the forest, Pirate. This is Lost One’s territory.”
His tone was cool, but he couldn’t keep the venom out that seemed to lace with his words. Although he didn’t even know the females name, just the way she looked caused him to be on the defence. He approached her, refusing to make eye contact as he took hold of his dagger. In one motion he pulled the blade from the bark, mentally congratulating himself when he saw how deep it entered.
Surely if it had hit her skull it would have sunken all the way through.
His eyes slowly shifted to look at hers, pulsing an eerie grey as he shot her a glare. He didn’t need anymore pirate friends, did he?
“It’s rude to enter someones property without their permission. Next time, I won’t miss.”
Her eyes followed him, scrutinising his every move, as soon as she spoke his mood shifted, dramatically so. Remaining quiet as he removed the dagger, she crossed her arms, cocking an eyebrow as she observed. He was strange, seemed to hold some kind of grudge against her, they’d never even met before. His eyes were a distinct feature, icy blue, almost identical to hers, a shiver curled its way up her spine, which she refused to give the boy the satisfaction of knowing.
“Who says there’s going to be a next time, Lost One?”
Blue was unsure, if she pursued this, if she pursued him. What outcome would it have? Was it even remotely rational to think the two could get along, it’d barely been a minute, he was already confrontational. But, perhaps this could be the start of a strong friendship they both had strong personalities, it could work in her favour she could use an island guide.
A few moments, the silence remained, a delicate, yet tense silence, with the two staring directly back at each other. Blue was the first to break, looking down from where the boy had come from, she knew nothing of lost ones, except they were part of the island like the descendants and the pirates, cogs in a steady machine. Slowly, the girl reached for her hip flask, still silent, she unscrewed the cap, extending her arm to the boy standing in front of her, like a olive branch, a silent offer of trust. Quizzically, she turned her had back to the boy, a soft smirk on her face and a playful glint in her eye.
“Don’t worry, I promise its only rum. Nothing too strong, wouldn't want you passing out on me now, would we?”
Odds and Ends
Letting out a sigh she didn’t know she was holding, the girl relaxed slightly, the side of her mouth twitching slightly. Doing as the boy said, she sat, with a slight tinge of pain, before speaking “No, nothing like that, I fell I think...” her speech trailed off and a newly formed frown clouded her vision, to tell the truth the girl couldn't actually remember. Slowly, she attempted to piece together the events of the last 24 hours, but to no avail. It was like a monster had torn through her brain, stealing memories and leaving nothing but grey space and confusion. “I-I can’t really remember.” Blue shook her head of the thought and turned her attention to the boy who’d caught her red handed.
He was young, seemingly bought up decently by his mannerisms, yet he had an accent the girl couldn't quite recognise. The girl wondered how he survived, the island was barren, and assumedly dangerous that meant, if she found one person alive, who was to say there wasn’t more. It sprung out of no-where the niggling thought at the back of her mind, why was she trusting him so quickly? He could be anyone, have any plethora of intentions. Again, the girl scolded her own arrogance, he had offered to help, and she was in no place to turn it down.
Thinking on it for a while, Blue decided it would be best to ask a few questions, mainly for her own benefit. But where to start? The questions swarmed around her head like she’d kicked an angry hornets nest. The island, where was it? How did she get here? Where there others? Like her or like him? Resting her head in a single palm. Start simply, effective but not blunt.
“What is this place?”
Back At It Again
Get out of the tent, deal with the girls, maybe slap an ass, cut some wood, kill some shit, watch the stars, go to bed but don’t fall asleep.
This had become Damien’s daily routine. Severland, although supposedly riddled with dangerous things and monstrous creatures Damien found himself falling into a boring sync. Sometimes he managed to break the terrible clockwork he had been placed under. Another girl would seemingly “fall in love” and he’d have someone new to play with. On a really good day a cannibal would stumble into camp and cause a little chaos. Damien would sit back and watch just a little, hear the screams, but before anything out really out of hand Damien took care of the situation.
But then it was all the same. Boring.
Damien was out in the forest, getting a break from the lost ones who seemed to depend on him more and more each day. The more there were, the more he had to do, but at least it kept him busy. Heartbeats filled his ears, most belonged to small creatures, ones that would be easy to catch for food. Pulling his dagger from his back pocket (it had been freshly polished, finally no more bloodstains) he grasped it in a full fist. His eyes locked a bush a bit away from him and he took in a deep breath.
Aim, throw, kill.
There was another heartbeat, a faint one that triggered his senses. It wasn’t animal, it was something BIGGER. A human potentially. In a quick motion he pivoted, throwing his dagger directly behind him. It whizzed through the dense forest, landing in a tree trunk with a thud. A smirk curled up on Damien’s features as the unknown heartbeat picked up in pace.
“I missed on purpose you know, I really hate when people sneak up on me.”
Blue didn't exactly know where she was going, but all she knew was she needed to get away from the ship, while it was practically empty, the few pirates that inhabited it were wholly unbearable. Before leaving the ship she had grabbed a flask of rum and hung it on her belt, along with her small sword and her damaged compass. Grumbling to herself, the girl took a small swig of the rum, enjoying the warmth that remained after the original burn. Her footsteps were light on the forest floor, the sun blocked by the thick leaves as she scanned the surrounding area. The girl didn't quite know her way around the island yet, nor did she have many friends, not that she needed them, she frowned to herself, kicking a small stone and dragging her tongue along her bottom lip.
It was a few seconds later, a figure came into view, Blue stepped behind a tree and watched from a few meters back. She took a few minutes to look him up and down, even from further back she could tell he was irritated, his body language was tense, angry. A mass of black hair was all she could clearly see, along with what seemed to be a killer physique, he wasn't a pirate. The girl frowned a little harder, stepping from her hiding place and crossing her arms. The dagger was impressive, that the girl couldn't deny but the next thing she knew, it was flying towards her and sinking into the trunk of a tree. Flinching slightly the girl dropped her crossed arms, and took a few moments to calm down.
“Somewhat glad you decided to miss me.” Her dialect was ragged, due to the panic still coursing through her veins. Blue realised the boy still had his back to her, he just threw a dagger at a complete stranger. A few leaves had ended up in her hair from the force in which the dagger had hit the tree, and she was sure even if she tried, she wouldn't be able to pull the dagger from the tree. This boy, whoever he was, was unpredictable, the girl decided to be careful, but not appear weak. The perfect combination of strong and submissive, feeding whatever ego he had. Blue cleared her throat, running her tongue along the inside of her cheek “I wasn’t sneaking up on you, in fact I’ll think you’ll find you’ve disturbed my walk. How rude..”

@my-own-conscience
Blue was hurt. That much she understood, her whole body seemed to throb as she stumbled further into the thick forest she had found herself in. It felt as though the girl had been thrown, with an substantial amount of force, from a high cliff, which when put into perspective, didn't seem too irrational. She stopped for a few seconds, resting her head against the rough bark of an aside tree and decided she needed some course of action before going any further. Taking the muted opportunity of a rest to do a damage report, she was easily able to identify a few things, bruised ribs were almost certain, every breath hurt. Minor bruising was apparent, almost as though she’d been beaten by a few dozen angry pirates. She figured if she continued walking, she would either stumble upon someone or find she was completely alone. Letting out a sigh, she pushed herself from the comfort of the tree and continued forward.
It felt as though it had been an eternity of Blue walking with nothing but the song of some strange bird and the overwhelming schism of her thoughts, a building crept into the girls peripheral vision. The happiness that thrummed through her veins was almost indescribable, this meant there had to be others, others capable of building structures. The girl wrapped her left arm around her waist, in order to relieve a little pressure from her ribs and began slowly walking towards the small sign of other life. Blue made sure to keep a look out, just in case this was some kind of trap, it was at this point she stopped, frowning softly. Straining her ears, the only thing audible was the ringing in her ears, she shook her head, labelling her thoughts as irrational and continuing for her original destination.
Blue rounded a corner, finding a small entrance, she winced letting out a shaky breath. It felt as though she was about to walk into the sabotage of the century another scowl clouded her face, was it correct to not be questioning the motives of a cabin in the middle of the woods on some mysterious island? Throwing all caution to the wind the girl pushed the door open, only to find it to be empty. She mapped it out to be some kind of infirmary, and figures she would be able to patch herself up. Taking a few shaky steps forward, the girl began searching rifling through a few odd draws, only to hear the door creaking open. Cursing aloud the girl froze, clenching her fists as she turns to face the door.
