Geek Out! DC? Marvel?
We live in an amazing time and age to see so many superheroes come to life! I personally don’t read comics because there’s too much to track back and Mr J has been the one feeding me the nitty-gritty and research anyway..
As mega film geeks ourselves, we watch all Marvel TV series and movies (no matter how bad some of them were.. *cough*Fantastic Four*cough*), and then finally watched something different from DC: Batman VS Superman. We have been trying to watch DC TV series, but after four seasons of Arrow, and 1.5 of Flash, and 1.5 of Gotham - I GIVE UP. They are made for teenagers. Then, the fight on the big screen between Batman and Superman made it even worse. That was so mind-boggling stupid, I don’t understand how that conflict made it into the cinemas.
But well, comics might be sketched and have told the story very differently so I won’t judge the superhero creators by the film that was made. Here are some of the superheroes from two universes which have similar heroes and everyone will agree with me that the similarities are stunning.
Batman : Ironman
Both rich and nothing better to do. Also they like to wrap themselves in steel.
Superman : Captain America
Both super righteous and super strong. Sure Cap can’t fly, nor is he a demigod, but he has an abundance of love for mankind and is always standing on the side of good. There is almost nothing rotten about his character. Also, between Henry Cavill and Chris Evans, we’re torn!
Wonder Woman: Thor
In comics, there’s a new lady Thor, but since it’s not in movies yet we’ll count her out. So in this instance, I paired both the demigod warriors. Their costumes are also “ancient” - One in Greek fashion, the other one like a Roman.
Atom: Ant Man
Their suits make them literally “sizeable”. Extremely small, like a size of a molecule, or super big. In the recent episode of DC Legends of Tomorrow, Atom showed that he could definitely grow so big to fight big monsters; Meanwhile Ant Man created a big distraction during the epic fight in Captain America: Civil War - It all happened just last month!
Green Arrow: Hawkeye
Ok. For starters, I must say this - I really hate Green Arrow’s opening line at every episode. Anyway, the Legolas-equivalents have a sharp eye, they never miss a target and most importantly, they are still human, with no tech fitted on their body.
Flash: Quicksilver
Both are you know, lightning fast. Quicksilver is the twin brother of Scarlet Witch, and in the comics, Quicksilver is Magneto’s son. Whaaat?! In the Avenger’s version, Quicksilver died saving Hawkeye, but the X-Men’s version still lives. Also, the Avenger’s version of Quicksilver is wayyy hotter.
White Canary: Black Widow
Ok, this is what I don’t understand. How are they superheroes when they are so human without any tech fitted on them, then rolled into the league of superheroes? Anyway, both ladies are trained by assassins to be assassins - so while they have a change of heart at killing, they happen to be the most ruthless in their bunch.
Firestorm: Human Torch
The burning men who can fly. Just to be fair, Firestorm has a better story to it because behind hot-headed man are bound to make mistakes. Firestorm is a merger between the young Jay Jackson, and wise Professor Martin Stein - so before the young man does anything stupid, Professor Stein is there to nag him out of it. As for Human Torch, he’s just a reckless boy.
Well there are so many more superheroes worth pairing them against, but as of now, let’s wait for the films to wow us with more comic-based characters.
Till then, geek out!
Captain America: Civil War? More like Clint Barton: I did not retire just so you toddlers could have a huge fight on the playground.
Antman and Clint’s arrow had more chemistry than Steve and Sharon
moon knight (2016)
by jeff lemire, greg smallwood, jordie bellaire, cory petit
A bit of fanart for @imaginaryanon Her story is amazing! Go read it, if sith Obi Wan is your thing ;)
I know what I’m picking.
Superhero: I don’t kill people.
