Note: For RP purposes, I use the following Timeline: Five years since the Calamity, as stated in ARR's opening, plus 1 year for each of the Risings thereafter. So, as of 2024's rising, it has been 16 years since the Calamity for my characters.

Pronunciation: Ehla-nee Krow

Name meaning:

Elynni: Alternate spelling of 'Eleni', that being a Modern Greek form of 'Helen'. Helen: Probably meaning 'Torch' or perhaps related to 'Selene', meaning 'Moon'. I use the 'Torch' meaning.

Crow: A crow is a glossy black passerine bird of the family Corvidae.

Nickname(s): Ely (Ellie), Firebug, Ely-bean, Sparkles

Gender: Female (she/her)

Ely is convivial, polite and tries to be kind, because she knows the world will not be. She is quick to a laugh, a prank or a joke, but, surface level friends and acquaintances often come away with the distinct impression that they didn't really learning anything about her, which is as she intends. That said, she does not lie and will generally be honest when asked direct question and in her opinions and thoughts, often brutally so. She often seems to know more than she lets on about a great many things.

Ely is open to any asks and RP and is one of my most extroverted and cheerful characters, much to her introverted person's dismay at times. Ely can be found in Ul'dah and the surrounding areas but often roams far and wide as her whims and jobs lead her.

Pronunciation: Fehn-rear Fae-ah-nok

Name meaning:

Fenryr: An alternate spelling of 'Fenrir', a wolf in Norse Mythology. 'Fenrir' means 'marsh, fen'

Faeanach is a bastardization of the Scottish 'Feannag', the word, to the best of my knowledge, that means Crow: A crow is a glossy black passerine bird of the family Corvidae.

Gender: Fen's gender is best described as 'Fen'. He/they

Fen is an tall, elegant man of a warm, wise and kind nature. Less quick to a joke than his daughter, Ely, the Elezen can, nevertheless, be just as mischievous, if far more subtle in their mischief.

Fen is open to all asks and limited RP, as I haven't RP'd him with anyone who isn't @cadrenebula and @skyysinger yet. Most often, he can be found with the Troupe on Tour or at their Home in Radz-at-Han, but most recently they have been spotted in and around the Goblet on 'Vacation'. Often in the evenings, he can be found in the Brimming Heart, sipping tea and working on their ceramics, sometimes looking a little bit harried as they work on a seemingly endless stack of parchment work or speaking on his linkpearl.

Vierapril Day 6 - Dream

Our paths, they did cross, though I cannot say just why We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye.

Well, it's that time again! Moogle Tomestones! Ely's going to be living in the Gold Saucer in between fishing and HoH for a while!

Content warning! Ely has a panic attack stemming from a nightmare-memory in this one and goes selectively mute for a unspecified period of time. Allusions to Canon, and Final Fantasy in general, typical Garlean Scientists and their general lack of Spoken Decency, and Zenos'... everything in Garlemald, but nothing explicit and absolutely no worse than anything we see or read in Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Mind your headspace. Things are disjointed and vague because Ely isn't in the best headspace and time went a little wibbly on her.

Ely shoots upright in bed, her breathing coming in rapid, ragged gasps. The nightmare-memory sits in the forefront of her head like a lead weight -white coats and white gloves and needles and cold eyes and cold voices and white, white, white!- She shudders and struggles to bring her breathing back from the edge of hyperventilation. Her hands ache from the cold outside, the silver shards long ago embedded into them stinging and the scars pulling uncomfortably. 

Dimly, she recognizes that she’s having a panic attack, even as she tries to focus on her breathing. Alright, five things she can see. The woodfire boiler, the heavy wool curtain covering the doorway to the two bedrooms, the tea kettle on the stove, it’s getting ready to start screaming, Simon going to grab it, the window, it’s snowing outside. Ely takes a shuddering breath, four beings she can sense: Quinlie’s downstairs tending the animals, Soraana is with her, gathering the eggs and milking the goats. Iris’s still asleep, but she’s waking up, and she can see Simon so he doesn’t count. One more… Ely’s panic spikes, and she wrenches herself back into the exercise, one more… there! Sahji was still at the Burrow, just a few alleyways down, aether presence worryingly like melting ice but… that was not Ely’s problem. Fen and Ryuu were on it and they had the watch and would hold the line. Sahji would be fine. He would. Ely would not lose another sibling. Three things she can hear - The snow had picked up outside and the wind was howling on the corner of the house nearest her. Quin was tromping up the stairs, footsteps heavy, she probably had a pail of milk to use. Simon had caught the kettle before it could start shrieking. Two things she could smell, The scent of hot water being poured over chai, Simon was making a cup for her, none of the others had ever gotten the taste for chai, and… woodsmoke, from the fireplaces and boilers. One thing she could taste: bile in the back of her throat, from the nightmare. It was disgusting and her mouth felt like something had crawled into it in the night and died. Eaugh. 

Ely takes one last, deep shuddering breath and wipes a hand down her face, not startling at Simon’s, “Here. You back with us?” at her elbow. 

Ely nods and pushes the blankets down the bed and shifts to sit cross legged. She opens her mouth to thank the Elezen but the words get stuck in her throat. She makes a face and instead signs ‘Thanks, Si.’ 

The lines at the corners of Simon’s eyes loosen slightly, “Of course. Want me to wake Iris?” 

Ely shakes her head, ‘No. Let her sleep. She had a bad night too and dropped off at around third bell.’ 

Simon nods and pats Ely’s shoulder once, not moving so slowly as to be obvious, but telegraphing his movements nonetheless, “Sure, washroom’s open if you want it and I could use some help in fending Quin off from ‘helping’ make breakfast.” His voice rose slightly at the end of his sentence, obviously intending to be heard by the short woman who’d just opened the front door. 

Quin makes an ugly face at him, “Asshole.” Ely huffs her amusement, finishes her chai and makes for the washroom, absently itching at her night braids as she went. Outside, Ishgard slowly woke to a new day and a continuing snowstorm. She was still alive and those that haunted her nightmares were not, tempered and sacrificed to a mad nihilist's ambitions. Healing was one step forwards and two steps back and no one here minded that today might be a Quiet Day. It was fine. Ely would live, in spite of scientists and doctors in white and punishments and scores that were never quite high enough to please their impossible standards. Check and mate, assholes. She’d won in the end.

Ely and I are doing Large Leves in HW content to raise some gil today while I ignore Main Story because a character I always want to punch is incoming; I always love it when her Ahriman mounts come out.

Glitter Hall will be opening! Since the vote was so split I decided I'll open it both nights! Our hosts are Bram, the Glitter King, owner of the venue and his Ishgardian knight husband, Rulian.

Glitter Hall is located on Crystal, Goblin, Empyreum, Ward 12, Plot 2 (basement)

What is it? Glitter Hall is a light-hearted light RP event that is music, dancing, light flirting, mischief, and lots of glitter. Characters of all sorts are welcome (including npcs/lore-breaking/whatever you want to play that makes you happy). It's a night club/bar setting for adult players/characters but we ask that you keep overly adult situations/commentary to your private chats between friends. This is a place to be silly and dance your cares away for a few hours. We will be streaming music or you can come dance to your own playlist. LGBTQTIA+ characters/players are always safe and welcome here. Please keep dark RP topics out of our venue, this is a venue for light hearted fun. Get your best night club/dancing outfit and come dance with us in the glitter and the lights! While we are not an 'adult' entertainment venue sometimes we do have songs, flirting, or outfits that may not be strictly 'sfw/family friendly' either, so please bear that in mind.

But we also have a small npc-ran bar as well for those who would rather just sit and watch (rp ordering your own drinks from our npc bartender).

I'm thinking about re-opening Glitter Hall next week. If you're interesting in attending what day would work better for you?

It would likely be earlier in the evening than I used to hold it, as I go to bed early these days. I'm thinking 5-8 pm CST (I know that makes it really early afternoon for PST but..)

For those new here:

Glitter Hall is a night club type dance venue, I won't say it's SFW but we don't allow overly adult content either as it's meant to just be a silly, fun, relaxing place with mild/light flirting and sometimes missing clothing shenanigans. It is a bar, so adult players/characters expected. It is light hearted roleplay with OOC allowed in brackets. Respectful non-roleplayers are welcome to come dance. I do stream music (if that will still work for me) or you can dance to your own playlist. Please be aware we allow all sorts of characters (including lore-breaking, npcs, whatever makes people happy) and all skills of roleplayers. We ask you do not bring darker RP topics or overly adult ones here as it's a light hearted dance party and we're here to have fun and forget our troubles for a while. LGBTQTIA+ characters and players are always welcome.

If you've never been to Glitter Hall before then I can definitely recommend it as a drama-free, relaxed light-RP venue for dancing and generally having some silly fun. It can also accomodate wallflowers and those who prefer to stand to one side - probably fishing the occasional sequin out of their cocktail.

Sorry everyone it's been a day. I'll try to figure out things tomorrow and let everyone know when we'll hold it! Thank you for all the interest and support from old faces and new! (HAHA Mimble found a picture of Rulian shirtless..shh that doesn't happen there..okay yes it does). I've missed you all and the insane fun we had and I think we could all use a dance break!

Still wish you could come, Mimble! If you ever want to roll a NA alt and need help you let us know! I meant to EU Glitter Hall but life happened. Maybe in the future! Who knows!

Does your OC prefer the beauty of nature or the bustle of the big city? (For both)

Both Ely and Fen are reasonably comfortable in both environs.

That said, Ely dislikes the cold and so dislikes having to do fieldwork as a mercenary (typically as a merchant caravan guard) past late Tenth Moon, preferring to spend time in the warm taverns and clubs of the cities, in her Goblet apartment or at home in Thavnair. She also loves to sit at a Cafe or a bench and people watch or walk the Markets and smell the heady scent of the spices and herbs and street food vendors.

Fen has long since grown comfortably normalized to the hustle and bustle of larger cities, but he is, in his heart, a bear resistant country bumpkin (positive) and he thrives in the times that the Troupe's caravan is between villages or cities, especially if the air is clean and the sun is warm and there is the scent of wildflowers and petrichor on the wind. It's probably why he enjoys the Brimming Heart in the Goblet so much, it's one of the closest things to a garden he can get in Thanalan without trespassing on someone else's land.
