Stranger Things Chapter Six: The Monster
“Friend”? What is “friend”? Um, a friend is someone that you’d do anything for. You lend them your cool stuff, like comic books and trading cards. And they never break a promise.

The Invitation. (Netflix corner)
This newish to Netflix film stars Logan Marshall-Green (of Prometheus fame and also discount Tom Hardy) and Emayatzy Corinealdi as boyfriend and girlfriend Will and Kiera, who are invited to a dinner party thrown by Wills ex-wife Eden (Tammy Blanchard) and her new husband David (Michiel Huisman of Game of Thrones fame). The character Will does not feel right almost immediately upon arriving to the party and you can see him internally question why he even showed up in the first place. For the remainder of the film we follow this party’s extremely odd and uncomfortable events from Will’s perspective which is an almost paranoid one at that. There isn’t much else I can say about this film without giving the twist away, but I can say that it truly is a slow burner. The first 75% of the film is extremely dialogue heavy, but it all does build to something interesting in the end. I swear. I should also mention that Logan Marshall-green gave a fantastic performance. And he looked fantastic.
I mean Jesus, just look at him *drools*
Pretty much all of the performances are great except for the character Gina (Michelle Krusiec). Mild Spoilers Ahead: She (Gina) was definitely THE throwaway character that didn’t seem to have much going on in her life, but on top of it, her actress wasn’t exactly believable at all. Lets just say I wasn’t surprised that she was the first (possibly second) person to truly EXIT the party. End Spoiler.
I did happen to figure out the twist pretty soon after Will and Kiera’s arrival in the home, but I’m curious to know if it’s because I’m demented or because it’s just a pretty simple twist to begin with. This movie is kind of a frustrating ride, (because of all the internal yelling at characters), but it is a good time if you’re looking for a slightly claustrophobic thriller that has some deeply disturbing moments. It’s a good choice if you’re looking to watch something dark and weird on a rainy day. When it comes to modern thrillers and horror type films, this one is definitely not terrible by any means. I’ll give it three out of five skeletons.
Seriously how are he and Tom Hardy not related.
