The fantastic five!
I never called myself a writer until i came back from BLUR

Guess what. This is really late, but I'm going to tell you about a meaningful conversation about art I had. I would've written about it sooner but I hadn't had one yet. We had just been released from watching fake fireworks on a flat screen that brings no patriotic joy, my friends and I dragged blankets and snacks onto the quad and set up to see if we could see any from nearby towns. We could hear them but had to wait to actually see them. While we were waiting, Alex Miller from endstation came and sat down with us, asking what camp we were from and what art concentration we were. Of course Emily, Abigail, and I knew him from when he visited our class, but it was dark so he didn't recognise us. But we went on to have a long conversation about memorising techniques, past performances and a number of other things. Talking to him, not as a teacher but as an artist imparting wisdom, was very helpful and fascinating.
Problem Lack of arts being a priority The arts are the first things to get cut Solution Petition for fair budget Raise awareness for the arts (Showcases at schools and local businesses, flash mobs and random acts of culture)
Hi Blurries-
Here's a link to the Advocacy presentation, with all links included. Thanks for your attention, and can't wait to see what you do next!

Problem: not getting legitimate constructive criticism
Solution: contacting other blurries through social media for feed back; go to your schools art instructor or English teacher even if you don't have them, and they will give you constructive unbiased criticism.

Trouble Going Home
Problem: Practicality Solution: Build connections, keep working on it, look for groups or organizations that can support you, surround yourself with motivation, learn from the lessons of those around you (your role models) Helping: Create another type of environment, give the people around you motivation, step up to take risks for your artistic view, support organizations around you that support people like you Briana, Kate, Hannah, Jasmine, Jade, Tiffanie, Nathan, Chloe

Art conversation
One of the most memorable conversations I've had about art at BLUR was walking to the athletic center to go swimming with Morgan. She was asking me about my music and i was telling her about my background, how I started, and where I want to go with it. It's easy to avoid talking about a music career because i have found that most people feel the need to explain to me how unlikely it would be to ever have a music career. As if I didn't already know. Since I have been at BLUR, I have felt extremely encouraged about everything, and that is something I hope we can all incorporate onto our every day lives when we leave and spread to the community of people outside of the art world. Encouragement is an important key to success. ~Briana
