One problem with Jily fandom is that they make it as boring as possible. Like Lily is always that self insert character which writers like yourself projects a lot. They make Lily this serious, soft, rigid girl who is internally wanting James to want her. James is their trophy. Like it's so boring and people can't make it even slightly interesting.

I have no shame in admitting I put a lot of myself in her. And a lot of what I want to be. Was that on purpose? No. But once I realised that, I thought "it make sense". Did you even know, when I did a face reveal, some thought I even look like her? I disagree hahah but well.

You see, it's not like Lily is always serious.

If you take your time to look at my drawings of lily, "internally wanting" is not a bad word. Of course in the begining it was internally, that's where feelings usually are.

And James is not her trophy. She admires him, and respects him.

I don't find boring drawing her at all. I have done so many times. But you have all the right to think it is and that there's a lot of problem, but I believe I also have the right to defend her so thanks for the opportunity 😉

The confrontation started out of nowhere. Bill thought Fleur was talking to someone behind him.

He understood everything now. And sighed.

"It's no surprise you don't know how it is to be desired."

"Wat do you mean by this?"

"You just deal with stupid boys, Fleur."

She let out a laugh and crossed her arms, as if he made a joke.

"So you're saying you're a strong man."

"I'm saying... you're here jumping into your own conclusions, without asking first. Things don't have to be complicated."

"Well. Do you desire me, then?" Her accent is thick.

"Of course I do."

"Then why... Forget it. I'll see you at 5."

"What's at 5?"

"You're going out with me."

"Not complicating things, aren't we?"

I love Hinny and Jily, but god, do I struggle with making them look distinct while still keeping them recognisable as themselves 😭. There’s always someone commenting on my art saying my Lily looks like Ginny, my Ginny looks like Lily, and the same thing happens with Harry and James.

How do you guys do it? What features from James and Lily do you use when designing Harry, and how do you make Ginny and Lily look different? I’ve tried playing around with different face shapes, features, and different shades of red hair colours, but it’s honestly so demotivating when I put so much effort into making them feel like their own people and people still say they look alike just because they both have red hair.

I’d love to hear how you approach this or any tips you have!

Ooh what I can say is: don't beat up yourself for this, I've also received comments like "love your ginny" when I draw Lily or "oh I thought it was hinny" when I drew Jily.

It's not my fault and it's not your fault and it's not their fault.

Even this week I received a comment on twitter saying "I thought this was Paul McCartney and John Lennon". ANYWAYS...

My advice is: before jumping into drawing features, focus on the character personality. In my drawings... Harry is more restrained and traumatized but quite sarcastic and happy, while James is easy going and a bit dorky, emotional. Ginny is explosive, fun, mischief. Lily is quiet, soft spoken, but her smile brights up the room.

I think when people don't know what you are drawing, the room for imagination is wide. I draw lily with bangs as the main feature to make such distinction. My ginny is full with freckles and her hair is all over the place because I imagine her moving it a lot with her hands 🥰 James has curlier hair than harry and he's a bit more jacked lol. I draw harry with beard, but I think James didn't like that much.

If you are confident the characters you draw are different (and it's okay they have similar features as well), you won't be demotivated, you will enjoy keep drawing them!

Hi! Do not take this in the wrong way, because I love your art. I'm just curious, are you prepared for the hate and other ugly messages that people might send your way, because you are making fanart of characters from the Harry Potter universe?

Oh no, it's not about being prepared for the worst... It's about the fact I have my own safe place to deal with things about sharing my art. Whats outside of my control (what people feel about my art), I just have to let go. I don't chase comments nor views, did you know I never once published my links outside Tumblr other than Instagram?

I just want to share my art with those who also like what I like 😊

I have a question, this piece of jily art that has been haunting me for forever and I am like 90% sure it is yours. It is at the train station and one of them is leaning out the door. Like holding onto the handle, standing on the stair sort of out the door. I think it is Lily, but my memory isn't what it used to be. Anyway, I think it involves an 'I love you'.

Did I hallucinate this?

I didn't draw them at train station so perhaps it's from another fanartist? I drew an I love you scene but not like you described.
