Goodbye Ballet Society!
It’s been 3 years since Ballet society was first introduced to Bucks New University, and it’s now time to close the final curtain. The society has been extremely successful throughout it’s running, and many unforgettable memories have been created in its existence. From weekly all ability technique classes, to society trips and fun socials there’s always been something for everyone within the society.
In 2016, the society joined forces with BNU Dance to enable ballet society to compete with them at University competitions around the country. In ballets first year competing we saw amazing results as the team came away with 3 firsts and 1 second in the Novice Ballet Category. The society worked extremely hard during the academic year, which paid off as the society achieved outstanding accreditation.
Due to popular demand in 2017 the society continued their competition team as well as still running weekly technique classes open to all abilities. The competition team saw a rise in numbers, from a small team consisting of 10 team members in 2016 to now a large team of 16 dancers! This competition season the society gained a wooping 6 trophies over four competitions! These included 3 first places in the Novice category, 1 second in the advanced category and 2 best costume awards!
The society wouldn’t have had such great success without the help of their choreographer Annabelle Thomas. Annabelle has choreographed for the team for 2 years, and within this time has grown to be part of the ballet family!
Overall ballet has had a successful run and it will be greatly missed! But all is not over! BNU Dance Club have decided to take on a Ballet Team for the 2018/2019 competition season! If you are interested in being part of the team, join the BNU Dance Club on Facebook for updates on auditions and social events.
