i've been thinking about seven and avina a lot since i made that post and I have something to share lololol

I think its bad faith and honestly wrong to assume people who dislike avina only do it because avina gets in the way of seven/mc because I have a friend who doesnt play infamous and only listens to me talk about it. Except one day we were hanging out and I forced her to read avina's car pov. and she HATTEDD avina, avina got under her skin so bad. she also hates seven. somehow shes managed to become a savina shipper because she hates both of them and she wants them to date eachother and leave everyone else alone.

I love seven and avina but she was making some valid points...

I think its kinda interesting that in Blake's povs they say can sometimes see a little bit of themself in mc when it comes to mc and sevens whole deal. And. It's interesting to me bc theres definitely intentional parallels being drawn between blake&g and seven&mc but it's always kinda been obvious to me that seven is the blake parallel and mc is the g parallel. Maybe it can be mixed..it's not even a perfect parallel anyways so

I want to add my two cents about the whole “why are vic and seb less popular ro’s” 

(Be warned it is a bit of a rant because I have a lot to say)

I think a lot of people’s first instinct is to blame it on how the characters aren’t gender selectable which I don’t think is the main issue (but I’ll touch on this in a situation like Vic’s). A fixed gender romance option I think will always see less popularity since readers don’t get the option to tailor to their specific preferences (but august has seen popularity and they also aren’t gender selectable, which is why I don’t think this is the true reason for their unpopularity) in both cases it seems that vic and seb just play a less important role in the story, so people tend to forgo them as RO’s in favor of more scandal ridden relationships (seven and g mostly). I also feel like they’re two opposites of a spectrum. Seb is mostly excluded from the drama and makes a conscious effort to stay out of the spotlight while Vic is center stage but only because of her relationship to G. 

it’s not really a flaw that seb wants to stay out of the drama (it’s what makes his character so human and relatable) but it does mean he’s in competition with characters who are more easily intertwined with the main drama and story. I don’t think the option to be gender selectable would change seb’s popularity at all.

Vic is a different case though, and I think the option to have her be gender selectable could’ve actually made a mountable difference in her popularity (but it’s once again not the whole picture). The big issue with her being a fixed gender is the fact that it locks her into the very specific role of being g’s wife rather than her own RO. She’s one half of the iconic duo that valreign is, and this makes her inseparable from g. The only way to romance her is through an affair or poly route and while this is also true for G (I think it is abundantly clear that G plays a large role in their crumbling relationship) vic is the easier target for criticism. She becomes an obstacle, a clingy spouse, and isn’t nearly as “fun” or “chaotic” as G. People cater to G and the scandalous allure that they have, while vic is seen as a roadblock to get to G (unless you’re doing poly route ofc). I don’t think this is as big of a story issue, since the routes are both framed as being affairs and scandals, but society tends to be much harsher on characters in vic’s role (especially when they’re women). On the other hand, if vic was able to be male I think she would still be overshadowed by G, but might receive more pity from the readers. (In the like “oh no poor bby” kind of way) but this is just my opinion

I’m not saying everyone does this, but misogyny is always going to be present in any story, warranted or not. This also isn’t meant to criticize the story because I do think it explores the bad on both ends in a way that feels very real, but matching the real world also has its drawbacks because our society is a mess

Their eyebrows draw together, and only then is it that you realize that not only were you staring, you’ve also leaned in.

August pulls in slightly, only to pull back. Your earbud tugs out of your ear, and August plucks theirs out. “You caught me,” they say, their voice nonchalant as ever. “Clare always said that she thinks physical touch is my love language.”
