Sleepy girls who get up before noon are so so so brave
If you are open to questions: in your opinion, what's the reason cardan didn't sleep in the room while jude was recovering? do you think he was with other people, as jude believed?
oh, absolutely not. i briefly skimmed the chapters between where Jude wakes up after her fall from the ceiling and Cardan is not there, and the end of chapter 21.
i think it's made fairly clear through the scene after she wakes up, and over the course of the following chapters that, since Jude had to be drugged (for the pain) and she was also wounded, Cardan wouldn't spend the night there even if they were already romantically involved. she was delirious and "bleeding all over his spidersilk sheets" and probably would not have made a good bedfellow.
but there is one night, after Jude has healed, where she goes to bed after a revel and there is mention of her waiting for Cardan to come back to the Royal Chambers. but he never does. first, Jude imagines he stays at the revel all night, drinking to avoid having to sleep in the same bed as her. which is a little sad but not a totally unreasonable assumption, given their history at odds.
then, in chapter 21, we have this lovely quote:
“ 'You didn’t come to bed last night,' I whisper. It occurs to me abruptly that while I was unconscious, he would have spent his nights elsewhere. Perhaps not alone. It has been a long time since I was last at Court. I have no idea who is in his favour.” (QON, ch.21)
so it only occurs to Jude right before there is a high likelihood of them actually spending the night together (as he has come back to their rooms), that he could've been with someone else the night before.
i think here, there is a small part of Jude that wants to feel wanted. and not in the "i hate that i want you" kind of way they've previously dabbled in. but she wants to be the one he chooses to go to bed with. not just because she's there, either. she wants him to want her.
i'm not sure there's a whole lot of hard evidence for where he actually was the night before. but we do have this line, Cardan's response:
“ 'I’m here now,' he says, as though he thinks it’s possible he misunderstands me.” (QON, ch.21)
now i've highlighted the important part because it's the only part of this response that vaguely alludes to his confusion. the confusion being this: Cardan did not know Jude wanted to sleep in the same bed with him.
at this point, he's only aware that she did not receive his letters, she did not solve his riddle, she was very very angry with him for exiling her, and he hurt her. and she admitted that he hurt her. explicitly! to his face! that's not something Jude would do lightly, and Cardan knows this. he thinks he's still in the doghouse, and he wants to respect Jude's privacy at this time.
and even then, after he's explained himself to her, would what he did damage their relationship irreparably? would Jude begrudgingly forgive him, but decide she wants nothing to do with him save for her title as Queen? fuck if Cardan knows! she has given him so very little indication of her true feelings at this point.
he knows Jude wants power. but he doesn't know Jude wants him. they are mirrors in this way.
and here Jude is, in chapter 21, being all, "where the fuck were you last night?" as if she was expecting him to come to bed in the Royal Chambers, a place where he was entirely sure he was unwanted. all i know is, boy has whiplash and he's got it bad. but he gets what he deserves. in the end.
plus, what would it say to the court about the legitimacy of their marriage if Cardan were messing about with random courtiers? Cardan is smart, he knows Jude is a queen not likely to be well-favoured (at least initially) by the people. they need to remain unified in all respects, at least until they are both solidly in their thrones.
basically, Cardan was neck deep in love with Jude during QON. his only concern was for her and her feelings. and of course, we should always presume that Jude and Cardan are both blind idiots when it comes to their feelings for one another.
—Em 🖤🗡
p.s. all bets on Cardan passing out in the Court of Shadows. or possibly the Council Room, since Randalin knew Cardan wouldn't be in the Royal Chambers when he burst in on Jude the morning after.

i didn’t ask to be this much in love with a fictional character but there he is and here i am
after finishing the war of two queens, i came to the conclusion that some of you simply cannot read <3
after perusing twitter for a bit, i have stuff to say so have some more twotq content.
what we're not gonna do is be fucking racist because you don't like the joining. if you can't criticize it without using slurs, then shut your goddamn mouth.
what we're also not gonna do is twist canon around.
the joining was always implied to have sexual undertones. it just was. it was set up that drinking blood from someone can be a sexual experience.
casteel and keiran are basically soulmates. casteel trusts keiran with poppy. he always has. this idea that he walk cucked or betrayed is fucking stupid and degrading to their relationship.
poppy, cas, and keiran have been in sexual situations together.
keiran heard cas finger poppy in the forest, the night of the wedding, when poppy woke up from her assention. their dynamic has never not had at least touches of sexuality in it. it's simply a fact.
i mentioned it in another post but i really think that these ideas of monogamy as the only true form of love that are so ingrained in our society are really what's pushing this victimization of cas and it's fucking ridiculous.
all three of them wanted it, and their dynamic really didn't change afterwards.
a giant portion of the fandom is just blowing this so far out of proportion. it would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating.
it's just sooooo funny to me how a black man slapping someone = trauma but black women's hair being mocked at every turn & women w medical conditions being made fun of constantly = comedy
I don't have a dream job. I want to be a fairy and sleep in a tulip
I really red the book SO FAST just to be able to go on the internet and interact w yall w ppl that share the same passion for these books as me I was so thrilled bc the book was AMAZING and everything was just PERFECT AND YALL HAVE THE AUDACITY TO WHINE LIKE BABIES ABOUT SPOILERS AND TALK SHIT ABOUT THE BOOK AND BE REALLY DISRESPECTFUL TO JLA ????? WHEN SHE GAVE US THAT MASTERPIECE ???
She didn’t ruin anything w this book it was written MANY TIMES that the feelings between poppy and kieran were DIFFERENT than the love between poppy and cas, the love between wife and husband. If you cannot comprehend that this is a sci-fi book and that even relationships are out of our own world than you’re just fcking dumb. Poppy said it herself cas and Kieran are soulmates, that does not mean they are in love LOVE, that means that their soul recognize and are made to understand each other, and poppy and Kieran are now developing the same kind of friendship. It is so sad to see that not even half of you don’t have the emotional intelligence to understand that the word love has many forms and meaning. I am kind of ashamed of your reactions since yall begged jla for the joining for a whole year and that the scene was perfectly written and balanced and she did not made it all weird.
YES!!!!
I would just like to add that all the events leading up to the Joining have repeatedly mentioned what the ceremony is going to be like. JLA really prepared us for it in the best way and y'all decide now thats it's not what you want even after asking for it for over a year?!??? grow up,,,,
there are even those saying that there was barely interaction between kieran and poppy in the prior books?!?? lol are we reading the same book?? and ffs please just dont type anymore if ur gonna call it emotional cheating or wtvr. wasnt cas the one that rly wanted it the most?? (besides us fans lol)
Watching book world fucking implode because three consenting adults had a threesome that was discussed at length before occurring (and more than heavily implied for two books prior) and acting like the main female character cheated on her husband when he was THERE and ALL ABOUT IT has been fucking wild y’all why are you guys SO ANGRY

Tawny said I don't care if you're an Atlantian King, if you hurt Poppy, as per girl code, I will throw hands
I'm finally on chapter 44 of The War of Two Queens!!! A low-flying plane flew by and my mind conjured up a thought that it was going to be catastrophic in a sense that i wouldn't be able to read a chapter i had waited so long for AAAAAAAAAAA
I keep seeing Eluciens ask Elucien antis why we don't want Elain with Lucien. This is the wrong question to ask.
I'm an Elucien anti because why would I want Lucien with her? Elain is mean, manipulative, and selfish. She has done nothing but mooch off of her sisters and let them take care of her for twenty-four years. Nesta would do anything for Elain, but Elain won't even sacrifice her comfortability for Nesta. Elain packed Nesta's things when the IC put her on house arrest. Elain had the audacity to say that Nesta "wasn't trying" after only two weeks, even when it took Elain months to recover. Elain never supported Nesta or her recovery, even though Nesta sacrificed everything for her.
Elain has treated Lucien like shit for the past two years, when he's been nothing but kind and patient towards her.
Lucien deserves better than Elain. In fact, everyone does. I want Elain on the Continent, far away from the characters I love.
I'm shivering!!!! Shout out loud please!!!
Nesta Archeron literally had the three bat boys on their knees, bowing to her.
No one does it like her.
