Mike Pence Booed at Hamilton as Cast Member Tells Him: “We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious”
Pence was in the house for the hit Broadway show, and during the curtain call, cast member Brandon Dixon, who portrays Aaron Burr, directly addressed Pence.
“Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at ‘Hamilton: An American Musical.’ We really do. We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us. Thank you.”
The crowd loudly cheered and applauded Dixon’s remarks.
This is why I love the theater!!! Another proud moment for New York. The whole point of the play is to interject diversity into a history which is dominated by white men. Spread the message of love and we will show this administration what American people are made of. #Love it!
