Verbal abuse is still abuse. It’s abuse in the form of words. They still burn, sting, hurt and put us in danger. Don’t assume that a few hurtful words won’t cost them their life. Don’t assume that just because you haven’t put one finger on them, you’re not responsible for what happens after that. Mentally and emotionally, they are bruising, bleeding, suffocating. Proverbs 18:21; We have to choose whether our words will be a blessing or a curse to others.  As a teacher, I take this very seriously.  I can look years back and remember words that some teachers said that built me UP to who I am today, and then there were words by some teachers or coaches that really brought me down and even affect me a bit, to this day!  I work in a very negative, never-good-enough type environment and some teachers are so old school that they think yelling at a student and telling them they are stupid will make them work harder.  My first mission as a teacher is to be an encourager.  Academic performance is not nearly as important.
