Another album that is getting a lot of praise and it's always one that is hard to hate. The songwriting is much more transparent and prevalent than what I have noticed before and the album is a much more somber tone and moody than her previous work starting with the artwork. I went back and looked and back in 2021 I really really enjoyed her work on Punisher (rightfully so). Phoebe isn't necessarily meant for me, or at least I keep telling myself that, but I can really appreciate her artwork and lane that she's carved for herself especially over the past 5 years from my first review of that + Boygenius.

Neuerscheinung: 'Black Out' von Maria Grazia Altea

'Black Out' ist die neue Single der aufstrebenden, in Tempio Pausania (Sardinien) beheimateten Künstlerin Maria Grazia Altea, die uns einen interessanten Indie-Folk-Sound auf akustischer Basis liefert. Ich genieße vor allem den leicht dunklen und mystischen Charakter, den sie in ihr Werk mit einfließen lässt, während ein erzählerischer Gesangsstil den Raum erfüllt und uns immer tiefer in eine schon fast cineastische Atmosphäre hineinzieht. Was mit einem gezupften Arpeggio im Intro eingeleitet wird, wird unmittelbar darauf durch einen weichen Bass in den Tiefen und verschwimmende E-Gitarren im weiteren Verlauf ergänzt. Es entsteht eine Textur mit subtiler Spannung und einer starken emotionalen Ader. Zwischen den Zeilen spürt man außerdem eine gewisse Verletzlichkeit, die mit einem Hauch Melancholie einhergeht. Auch schätze ich den unverkennbaren DIY-Flair mit seinen authentischen Lo-Fi-Einflüssen. Der Song gibt einem dabei viel mehr das Gefühl, gerade live bei einem Wohnzimmer-Konzert im kleinen Kreis mit dabei zu sein.
