It is by going through those struggles, getting scarred and even a bit traumatized in the process, that we mature, and grow. It is through our struggles that life carves us like a carpenter, or a potter, and gives us our unique shape as we come out, hopefully triumphing, through the other side. Yes, pick moments, joy, ambition, and love also have a great part to play in this journey. However still, the depth of our realization, embodiment, and humanity, comes from the roots that we lay in the ground, which interns allow us to soar through the heavens. This element tends to put us in a very difficult predicament whenever we are genuinely committed, and interested to go deeper in whatever it is that we do. When it comes to spiritual practice, as your practice and intellectual understanding both gets deeper, the teachings seems to turn on themselves. Your embodied investigation and greater sense of wisdom that have come due to the practice starts to point out the flaws and the limitation within the system that you have been practicing. Then, you are eventually faced with a choice: to conform to the teachings and culture that you have received up until now, ignoring your deeper insight, or speak up, make a stand and acknowledge that something is missing, that some things just do not add up. In the first choice, you ignore the wisdom of your heart, and this new level of understanding that is being presented to you. You get to keep your feeling of belonging, and being a part of the group, but you pay the price that your spiritual growth and understanding will stagnate from this point onward. In the second option, you're most probably to lose your community, and there is painful sense of loneliness when you choose to go beyond the limitations of the cultural structure which is brought you up until this point. You also take the risk that your evaluation is wrong, and that you're might be doing a horrible mistake. But this is the risks that all great explorers and brave souls mast take. A great freedom is to be found when we allow ourselves to witness existence with a sense of marvel.
