Wooooow I absolutely adore the way you draw fat characters! Do you have any advice on drawing stomach fat? I tend to struggle with that when drawing heavier body types :,3
I dont have any actual advice besides being like observant or looking up different body types and studying them- i hope this helps a little bit, ive never been good with tutorials or art advice lol
Was given an ask requesting a tutorial on how I draw bodies. Here's a version with a more clean look not attached to a tumblr ask.
This is just how I do my art currently, and is no set in stone kind of rules on how to do it. If it gonna help someone, I'll be happy. Of not, oh well.

posting this with every artist tag i can think of, even if you dont do crochet, PLEASE TAKE RESTS FOR YOUR HANDS!!! no matter what medium artist you are, take care of your articulations
Very important for all artists
Wanted to ask smth real quick since im genuinely curious :,
How do u pick the colors for your art?? they're always so pretty and nice to look at! so i wonder If u have like - idk - a certain pallete for some??? would that be the word??? hmm idk
but basically , your colors are always SO pretty! Keep up the amazing work i love it :DD
Hmm no I just... abuse gradient maps... I pick one that compliments most of the colors, usually at random, but if I have a green background I will aim for a gradient map that is blue, yellow, or red, for example. That part's up to you. Really it’s just… whatever looks nice 😅
You can look up tutorials on how to use tone curves/gradient maps to get a better idea of what they do. For most of these after the flat color layer, I am adjusting the opacity to a level I like. Hopefully this will make sense?

Just the greatest catalogue of hand pose refs/traces ever created
i feel like these poses each give a slightly different character to eachother. even when the only real change is the way the hands are posed to sit on the hips.. has anyone noticed this

Because of ArtFight's recent rule clarification, I've seen discussion on whether tracing your own photos is the same as references them. This is, in my opinion, a matter of semantics. Tracing your own photos IS a method of using them as reference. It is perfectly normal and doesn't hurt anyone. When it comes to self made resources (photos, sculpture, maquettes, 3D sculpts, etc) and resources made explicitly for artists to use (stock photos with appropriate permission, 3D models in CSP, etc), tracing can be ONE step of using them as a reference. It isn't a "crutch", it isn't cheating.
You can also put the photo up next to what you're drawing, and draw from sight. Or trace the photo a few times, then draw it separately. These all have value for different situations for learning, speed, and accuracy, and I recommend trying them ALL.
Regardless of what ArtFight decides, I want other artists to not be afraid of using this type of reference material in this way. It's very normal in both professional and hobby circles, it isn't harmful, and it doesn't make you a lesser artist. Hope this hasn't ruffled any feathers, keep drawing! <3
Get back at AI by drinking two large glasses of water before creating any art.
This is definitely not a trick to get artists to drink more water

Trying to figure out how to draw armour. These are some of my notes I uploaded on patreon. A lot more to come since I really want to figure this one out.
