Beer Labels

Dave Benfield, the grand poo-bah of DuClaw Brewing Company, began home brewing beer while in college, presumably for the only reason that guys in college do anything: to meet girls. What originally began as a way for Dave and his friends to supply themselves with beer and female admirers, soon evolved into something more.

Roadhouse LA

Brisket Texas toast with vodka mac and cheese... oh the foodie adventures I miss with Angela. Roadhouse LA, is a fortress of smoked meats and whiskey from the Umami brain trust and barbecue prodigy Robbie Richter. Here you’ll find all the necessary elements of a postcard-perfect roadside juke joint. Walls of reclaimed barn wood and tin. A giant haylift chandelier. Antique gas pump. Chicken coops. 

Pick a couple stools at the aluminum-sided bar. Order tequila-amaro-ginger cocktails from a Honeycut guy, or just go for one of the dozens of whiskeys. Consider the place’s name and toast to Swayze. It’s all a prelude to the creative, internationally influenced barbecue you’ll have on the balcony or, when it’s nice, over by the garage windows opening to Melrose. Think brisket with Cheetos-infused cheddar or a patty melt with burnt ends in the middle. And sides like that vodka-doused mac and cheese.
