We are going to try and nurse this one back to life... these are results of exposure to hush winter sun.... it lost its beautiful green lively color... we are going to try an recover that...
We like to make our own decor...
New shoots n fresh leaves on my ficus ❤ ❤ ❤
My creations.... make shift table center piece....
Plants coming up nice 👌☺👍
Project rescue succulents update
We are almost at potting stage for the indoor rescues. My God flower post are so expensive, so guess what.... WE ARE DIYn those all the way, first batch done....
Reuse and Recycle :)
Soo because it's winter here and I'm not sure 🤔 of the recovery process of the new babies I got... I snipped a few branches of of some succulents from outside to rescue the from the cold
And I'd like to say the project is coming along real nice 👍👌😉😎
New interests, so long story short.... I rescued a number of succulents about a month back... Almost dead and starved...
And soo begins the story of My journey to nursing them to health
Upgraded, revamped, uprooted, rerooted, refurbished , assigned and reassigned... I have been developed...
Day 20: Preparations for Demo Day...
Its amazing how much you can learn in so little time. The crucial times when time is against and you have to do wht you least expected and make sure it is to the expectation of your current environment are the times when you get most educated of how things work and the reality of things. It could be either personal or just overall surroundings. You notice so much when you are under pressure, but over all this could be just me so i will share with you my most priced and valued experiences that lead to Demo Day at Maker Camp.
I am over all the most relaxed, quiet and not so forth coming person; work best with myself figuring things out and try to solve problems slowly at my own pace and with not so good communicating and networking skills.
Here at maker camp, one of the aspect involved was creating a prototype and actually presenting to people about the overall experiences of going about creating the prototype. Public speaking and interactions with people were my biggest obstacle. In a matter of a few days i had to complete my project face one of my biggest obstacles and make sure with all those i come up on point with what i had to achieve.
First presentation I did since i came to the camp was the Pecha Kucha event, were we had to present about any topic we chose. I feared presenting and didnt want to be involved; with that mentality i was totally unprepared and not sure what to do, scared and trying to improvise at last minute and i messed everything up and it was bad. It was dissapointing and embarassing for my fellow participants, organisers for the event and mostly of all our the initiator of the program Ms Stefania Druga, that moment i was slapped with the reality card that whatever you do its not always about you, there are aspects with which you have to consider and always try your best to do something even if you are not good at it. If you have so many people believing and supporting you to do something, there is something that those people are seeing, you might not understand it now but always give it your all and greatness can come out of it.
So after the confrontation with the programt initiator i was forced to pull up my socks, I was assigned to work with Miss Sussane one of the organising members on my Demo presentations. The road was a bumpy one all the way to the Demo day. A number of preparation presentations were done , which were most crucial as we got feedback of how to perfect the presentations and eventually have good communications skills and nice looking slides. This process of working on slides and presenting them to fellow participants actually improves your confidence towards presenting, you get feedback on what a what your slides are communicating and then you can improve them before the actual presentation.

#Day 11: Conceptualisation of maker camp projects
The day was mainly focused on finalising the concept of the project and coming with good stratergise of how to actually build the prototype. Botswana is a country that is struggling with shortage of electricity, the current situation regarding this matter is that the country has introduced the processes of load shedding to try and balance out the little that is available. Follow the link below for further defination of Load Shedding
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/load-shedding
and for further Details on Load Shedding Status at Botswana:

So with details provided above as a group of students in Botswana aiming to start Afrimakers Botswana we have took it upon our selves to try to come up with ways to help increase the public awareness on the matter and in the process increase probabilities of electricity saved in homes. This lead to the birth of project P.A.U (Power Always Unreliable) electricity Gauge which is an electricity meter used to measure electricity in homes and analyse the usage of electricity as a whole in homes; which will be project i am mainly focusing on during the duration of this camp.
The Conceptualisation of the project:
The concept was motivated by trending open energy monitor and the prototype will be something similar to their concept. Check Open Energy monitor at:

Wise men once said "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy " so to end this hard working day we went to a stand comedy show at English Theatre Berlin, where I experienced one of my greatest night in the camp and really enjoyed it. The comedians...
Day 8: The Technologies
3D printing is the processes with which you develop 3D model objects from 3D modelled electronic images.
The process involved in 3D printing
It all starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is made in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file using a 3D modeling program (for the creation of a totally new object) ór with the use of a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). This scanner makes a 3D digital copy of an object and puts it into a 3D modeling program.
To prepare the digital file created in a 3D modeling program for printing, the software slices the final model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers. When this prepared file is uploaded in the 3D printer, the printer creates the object layer by layer. The 3D printer reads every slice (or 2D image) and proceeds to create the object blending each layer together with no sign of the layering visible, resulting in one three dimensional object.

Building the 3D printer, in our case repairing the 3D printer; which was really marvellous because you get to learn about all the little parts in the printer and their functions. The process of figuring out which part goes to where in the printer is not a pretty task when documentation is not that realible. Big lesson learned here is that if you do a project that need precise details as making a 3D printer and you want to share it with other people to use; precise and understandable documentation is the most vital part of that project.
Following are images of particular model of a 3D printer called RepRap.

Maps
In maps we had an interesting presentation about mapping particular points in a map and sharing it with the public. As a programmer i thought the ability of being able to map locations on a real life map can be used to develop further applications or systems that in normal cases will be very cumbersome when trying to make your own map and routing routes on it; overall it just simplify the process of mapping. The concepts of OpenStreetMap and geojson were introduced. To learn further you can check out the links below.

Relaxation time: Interactions with people (Artist Barbecue)
First ever educative barbacue I ever attended, met interesting people with interesting ideas. Got time to relax and was amused by the projects and how people think. Projects that amused me were the Wearable electronics clothing studio, Human-plant interaction technology and hybrid visual/textual live-programming environment (visit vvvv.org).
I met well motivated people with so much drive to push their projects and that motivated me to do more with my live looking at the beautiful projects they are working on. It was lovely to see people motivated doing what they love and feeling good about it. I enjoyed the barbecue because i got to interact with these powerful people with the same but advanced level of mindset. Thank you so much for inviting us Stefania. it was great barbecue.

Day 7: Learning Experience
Day 7 in the camp was very educative and involved a lot of introduction to new concepts and look at projects in different ways. It was the introduction of a visual concept of programming called processing which is more interactive and graphical based.
Main learning experience with this is that they are a lot interactive ways to learn to program with and when you let your user create marvellous things with your system in a way you are motivating them to learn more on it. The high interactivity of the program and the ability to see what you can create really raise interest of new beginners to programming and keeps them interested in wanting to learn more

Project management Session; this was about the basics of project management and the methods with which you can use for the process. Formally project management is the process and activity of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals in scientific or daily problems.
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/management_concepts/project_management_methodologies.htm
From the session I learned that there are different ways of dealing with project management; there is the waterfall method which is mainly focusing on mainstream production of a product assuming you have all the know how of producing that product before hand. There is the Scrum method which is the ideal method to use nowadays that is based on the agile method of project maangement.
A very detailed planned out schedules, defining all the little parts involved in developing your project can really assist in the success of the idea. Product/ project backlogging and sprint methods are really interesting tools you can use to assist in that.
