By March 1974, during John’s 16-month ‘lost weekend’ separation from Yoko, Paul and John were jamming together for the first time in many years and in July of that year Paul and Linda spent several days socialising with John and his lover May Pang. On the day Paul departed to return to England, John immediately started working on the song “Steel and Glass”, which he used to set the record straight about Paul.  Their relationship was healed to such an extent that Paul invited John to write and record with him on his “Venus and Mars” album in New Orleans. John agreed, but then got sidetracked by his reconciliation with Yoko, and it never happened.
