Lost Puppy | Sauri & Sura
The smaller waterbender’s reaction would have been comical if Sauri had succeeded to scare him enough to where his body would have jolted, skin washing out to a paler tone than his norm. The thought amused him, but he settles for a thin, crooked smile at being hit playfully.
"You’re always jumpy. Not my fault." He let out a mixture of a snort and a huff, a smile too planted on his lips. He appears to be in one of his better moods today, or for the moment, at least. "I’m not irresponsible. Unmotivated, but I get things done. Cut me some slack." With that, he leads Sura to the direction of where his room is, keeping an eye out for 1007.
"The rooms have bunks. Well, mine does. So we’re sharing."
Sura looked at the other smile with fondness, giving a small laugh, only to be led to the room by Sauri, eyes wide. He looked up at Sauri and smiled a little at the thought of sharing a room with him, like some kind of sleep over. He blinked down, holding a heavy bag with ease as he strung it over his shoulder, blinking slowly up at Sauri. He entered the room, wide eyes staring blankly around what was to be their room, only for his nose to crinkle in distaste. Sura was used to luxury, and, by default, something so simplistic and... almost boring was something he wasn't used to. He said nothing though, putting down his bag and staring up at the bunks, blinking slowly. "Which bunk did you want?" He didn't mind, it wasn't like he was scared of heights or anything. He looked at Sauri curiously, tapping the bed pointedly.
sura walkin up to the club like
"well it didn’t taste different for me — maybe it’ll be different for you though!" she nods a few times, dragging her teeth over her lower lip absently as she hums. "you guys have milk in the water tribes? from wich animal? the polar dogs?" she had read up on a bit on the tribes at least.
"I don't think so." Sura laughed out loud, a smile pulling on his cheeks. "I think the majority of our milk is imported, actually since we live on ice. So I'm not sure, but it's really good. Some people have the milk from different types of yaks though, I'm sure."
Flashback to a very lost little penguin in the airport.

brows raise, wide open setting of her eyes closing slightly. to be treated like something dirty, when simply teasing—a door slams shut behind the surface and it’s evident in her face politeness is something she wears when annoyed. or hurt. it’s hard to read on her and hard for her to read. ”yeah? okay.” fingers reach to rub at her own wrists as she huffs, cool tone verging on the edge of annoyed, “i don’t get why you’re still babbling on about my brother like that, as if you want to get in trouble. because that’s where you’re headed.”
Large eyes suddenly glanced up at her, only to lower and look down. "I'm sorry." He apologized quietly, exhaling slowly as he tried to calm down, biting his lip. "You two make me nervous. I react badly because of it. That's all." "I'm not used to living with anyone, I've almost always been by myself, so ... it's hard for me." He frowned and looked away, his hands fidgeting. Of course, he could say that he felt dread every time he entered his apartment because he always irritated them even when it was unintentional, but... he didn't want to get in trouble. Since that's where he was headed, too. Nevertheless, even if it backfired onto him, he wanted to explain himself; as best he could, anyway. His head bowed a little shamefully. "I'm not used to women touching me ... so ... I react badly to that too. So I'm sorry."
kala beams, chipper as ever as she nods, “i think it’s okay — i can’t really tell the difference between them, but moo-sow’s big in the fire nation, apparently.”
"Really? It doesn't taste that different? Maybe it's the consistency or something?" He blinks as he stares away in thought. "I'll have to try it some time. I wonder if it's as good as the stuff we have at the water tribe though."
the waterbender’s lips press in the expression of a slight pout—the boy before her bore only nineteen years on her shoulders, yet insisted on acting with the stiffness of their tribe elders; it’s dreadfully boring, almost aggravating to be by. she’s drawn out of the harrowing observation by the sound of a small yowl, hand raising to her mouth to barely conceal the laugh that bounds out of it. it’s only when the kitten in sura’s arms—which had started struggling the moment the male had snuck a finger under the fold of the creature’s ears—begins to swipe with hollow claws that she shifts to take the animal from the boy. ”i hope your opinion of this darling hasn’t changed,” she teases, pressing a small kiss on the kitten’s temple.
He didn't mean to be stiff and uptight. He didn't want to be like that, but after years and years of him being enforced to, it was a little hard to get rid of as soon as he left it. He blinked down as the kitten swiped at him, about to coo the kitten to stop when it was getting taken away. He gave a small frown, though said nothing and turned back, turning the tap on as he waterbended the flow easily into the pan at the stove in front of him, filling it up. He was making ramen for himself, and his stomach seemed happy at the thought.
"I believe my exact words were posed as a question referring to whether or not you were trying to boost your growth, not an implication — if you don’t know what a question is, I hear Republic City has an excellent program for the slow. They might be a bit above your current IQ level — but I’m sure you can catch up.” The words slip from her lips fluidly, equipped with a bit of an edge that doesn’t exactly match the expression on her face — Akina’s still calm, if anything, there’s nothing to lose her marbles over when it comes to something as small as this. As it were, the male opposite of her wasn’t providing a very good stance on his side of the argument anyway — a waste of time.
But one can’t say she hasn’t tried to converse with the likes of others, at least, trying to tell a joke counts in her book.
"I suppose even I can’t argue against blatant stupidity,” She draws a seemingly weary sigh, flicking a lock of hair off her right shoulder as she makes to turn away, “enjoy your milk, waterbender.”
He just watched her rattle on; apparently, when the girl was getting desperately needing to put him down, she found the need to insult his intelligence. His eyes rolled into the sky, thinking that fire benders just seemed so angsty and just desperate to try and put themselves on top of others. He just rolled his shoulder as if she wasn't even speaking, eyes flickering around to the fridges. Maybe he should get a bottle of water, it was hot today. He sighed as the woman was like an annoying fly buzzing around his ear that refused to go away, looking up at her. "Perhaps your sense of humour is from the fire nation, which, as it is obvious, I am not from. As we are culturally quite different, please excuse me if I cannot tell what is a joke or not." He just gives a rueful smile that seemed almost like he was pitying how culturally insensitive she was. "Exactly, no one can argue against blatant stupidity, which is rather instead of getting angry over your childish comments, I'm thinking of getting another beverage. Excuse me." On cue, the water bender got up and ordered a bottle of water, paid for it and casually at back down. Clearly not giving her the time of day to acknowledge her any more.
"I never suggested you looked prepubescent — please get it straight before you start accusing me. The fact of the matter is that you cannot read my thoughts and therefore have no idea what my intentions are nor can you truly accuse me of insulting you." Akina adapts a disinterested expression, already finding the flaws in the other’s argument. "As it was, I based your ingestion of a beverage known commonly by housewives to try and boost growth to make a comment—a joke, if you will—on the fact that you are lacking in height in comparison to most other males of your age group." She looks him over once more, lips pressing together slightly as she continues, "It is not of my concern as to whether or not you take it with a grain of salt or with the years of oppressed frustration of your ancestors."
With that the firebender straightens up further, amusement mounting just the tiniest bit with the height advantage gifted by her shoes for the day. “That being said, I would advise you to refrain from crude language against me — I wasn’t the one who broke out in swears like a savage over a measly comment.” She looks him square in the eyes, lips twisting into a smile.
"The one who’s impolite here is you."
"Who are you to suggest that I would wish to boost growth? I am perfectly happy with my height."
Sura found himself smacking his lips distastefully as he tried to think about the nice taste of the milk instead instead of the women in front of him, who seemed surprised the apparent kid had actually been able to defend himself. The corners of his lips twitched in a smile; his come back comment must of been good if she's starting to use big words to sound smart. Saying she wasn't thinking he was pre-pubescent, and then in the next minute telling him he lacked in height and must want to boost his growth, because that is obviously the only reason he would buy milk. He scoffed, eyes flickering away incredulously. Unbelievable.
"Good. Now we both agree that your comment was measly. Is there anything else?" Sura's eyes stared up at her, already bored with her argument.
