this isn’t the first time that violet’s caught him staring - more like the millionth time, honestly - and she’s sure it won’t be the last. she’s not stupid though; she’s been able to piece together why it’s been happening so often as of late. or maybe it’s been happening for a long while and she never noticed until here recently, but whatever the case may be, she can tell what’s going on.

He’s no fool. There was no denying that sooner or later, someone would have to notice his incessant watching, no matter how hard he always tries to hide it or how careful he thought he was being in keeping it his big, hopeless secret. Subtly isn’t his forte, and it’s come to bite him in the ass far more times than he could ever hope to count.

It certainly doesn’t mean he has to admit to anything now that Violet’s caught on, however. Unfortunately, nor does it mean he’s any more ready to expect it now that it’s finally come, and there’s simply nothing he can do to stop the painfully obvious deer in headlights look that’s immediately sent her way.

“Huh-?” is the first ingenious thing that’s blurted from his mouth, before he’s forced to hunch his shoulders and look away to conceal the heat he can feel rapidly spreading across his cheeks. “I’m not- being creepy. I- shut up-!” More brilliant choice of words, and he increasingly feels the urge to kick himself. “I was just- zoned out... Alright?”
