Hastily took pics of my new w.olf before running out the door today.
I have always wanted a wolf skull and fur pelt…. Were did you get this?
^ This one I found on OfferUp. My other one I found on LetGo/Craigslist. >
I got lucky enough to find some locally. I know hideandfur.com has pelts and skulls. I am in the US and I know you can’t buy them in some states though.
OMG I just when on hideandfur. Com they are expensive… :(
Yeah they are usually expensive. I managed to get my white one for $75 and the rug for $400 but I met up with people locally. I just stalk local ads for people selling cheap. It did take awhile for one to pop up though.
I been looking for one for my birthday… :( I can’t find them cheap enough.
@araviinn Look on taxidermy.net :) a lot of people sell pelts on there for much cheaper than hide and fur (which are extremely overpriced and imo not worth the money). An average mountable or rug wolf will probably be $600-700, but you could probably snag a vintage or wall hanger pelt for less than that!
yesterday a little miniature schnauzer called Blue became the 3rd natural miniature schnauzer to finish his AKC championship!
Sweetschnauzers Gladiator, champion of Spain, Finland, Russia, Portugal, Luxembourg AND America!
So this is what they used to look like - hard to tell how much has gone wrong under that haircut…
But this should give an idea:
Miniature Schnauzer
Calcium Oxalate Urolithiasis
Diabetes Mellitus
Hereditary Cataract
Hyperadrenocorticism
Mitral Valve Disease (MVD)
Pancreatitis and Hyperlipidaemia
And a few more from dogbreedhealth.com:
Myotonia Congenita
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) Type A
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) Type B
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
Factor V11 Deficiency
Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome
Thrombopathia
von Willebrands Disease 1
Elliptocytosis
Spondylocostal Dysostosis
…
Mmmmm! (In)breeding for the very best! Let’s get that gene-pool super duper small and see what shakes out!
(See https://www.ufaw.org.uk/dogs/miniature-schnauzer for details of the welfare impact on the dogs)
#dogblr#yum inbreeding#poor dogs#outcross for your lives#a small genepool is a bad genepool#you cannot inbreed your way out of this
Once again for the people at the back: you cannot inbreed your way out of horrible inbreeding related health problems.
Also what is with all these dog show breeds standing with their back legs stretched out? That’s…not how a dog stands?
(Also, what does “natural” mean in this context?)
@underthehedge ??? literally that’s how they naturally stand have you ever seen a dog with good angles ??? you can teach a dog to lean into their front to extend the back too ??? and the dog has a good equal body and obviously has good reach with how well it’s balanced. some dogs square stack, some three point stack, and some have an extended back leg stack. this dog is a fantastic representation of the breed standard (which surprise! means it conforms to the structure the dog needs in order to perform its purpose). also that photo is not even a mini schnauzer?? it’s like an affenpinscher mongrel before schnauzers even became standardized. plus the health issues noted aren’t all extremely common and you can literally health test a dog and choose dogs that don’t carry the possibility for adverse conditions?? they’re all issues mutts have too?? a health tested purebred coming from health tested lines is always going to have a chance at better health than a mutt from unknown lineage?? like hey look at this dog all of its recent ancestors are disease free and health tested and then like hey look at this mutt we dunno what its recent ancestors were or had in terms of conditions. also you’re overestimating how related purebreds are. literally you can test the coi (coifficient of inbreeding) and choose dogs less related?? most dogs have a coi that’s less than 20% and tbh the average is like 5% and dogs over 20% shouldn’t be bred bc there’s better dogs out there for that. also natural in the dog world means not cropped or docked and sometimes (very few ppl use it mostly they use unaltered or intact) not neutered/spayed. why do ppl with no idea how dogs work try to act like they’re gods for not buying a show dog lmaoooo
Holy french bulldog color breeders
Make it stawp.
I just wanted to talk about this more. I was waiting in front of a clinic with a lady with an over done GSD and a breeder with a merle English bull dog. To be clear, I like show GSD’s. But this dog had a droopy unclean face, long coat, roach back, like ROACH back, and was cow hocked. Ew. The bulldog breeder was going off about the beauty of his puppy. Like the color and nothing else. Cus, let’s be real, that dog had nothing else going for it. So the GSD lady goes in about how they should want health and temperament instead of color. And I’m like hell yeah!(in my head). Then I’m like, wait a minute, your dog is almost as nasty and just as far from the breed standard as the bulldog. Why are talking like that. If either of you people showed up to even a UKC show you would be excused from the ring. It was just a crazy conversation to watch. I really wish I had Roman there just to stand and look pretty so there might have a chance to realize what an uncrippled quality dog looked like for a minute while they jerked themselves off on their own ugly ass dogs.
@vadenspoo I’m imagining one of those shitty Chinese GSDs with the coat of a BYB wooly Siberian lol 😂
fishblr bestow your knowledge upon me
i have a 20 long i was considering cycling, and i’m really interested in kuhli loaches. how many can fit in that size tank, or is it even large enough? i really fancy the idea of a planted tank with a group of them and a shrimp species (cherry?), but obviously if it’s too small for them, i won’t do it. thank y’all very much in advance- i’m absolutely useless at researching fish on my own :/
(Click to make it legible, hopefully)
I found this MBTA infographic I made for an environmental biology class ages ago, so I figured I may as well share it, before I forgot about it again.
Even unknowing violations can net you up to a $15,000 fine. Put the damn bird bits back.
“you owe us 15k because you picked up and kept a feather you found in your backyard” is the dumbest fucking law imaginable
i understand the thing of like, don’t kill birds for their shit right, but if you happen upon these things by chance, there shouldn’t be a giant fee for finding natural things in nature.
the feather part is the worst. feathers naturally shed, you don’t have to kill a bird to get a feather. that’d be like fining someone for having scraps of shed fur from a fox. fucking moronic.
@throneprince the reason it’s so harsh is because you can’t prove you found the feather naturally instead of having poached the animal for it. even if you record the location it was found and took a photo before it was picked up, it is still easy to fabricate that with an illegally taken animal. a poacher could just claim they “found the feathers” when really they killed it and disposed of or distributed the other bits. the $15k is on the maximum side of a sentence for extremely endangered birds, and normally isn’t used for single feathers. if we just let people claim they picked up some feathers, we’d have the entire feather hat problem again. “just one person” leads to two people, and then three, and four, and then there are thousands of people making the desire for illegal feathers a thing again and poachers take advantage of that new interest.
guess who saw a fucking TURACO today
I JUST CUT THE NAILS OF TWO DOGS WHO HAVE NOT HAD A NAIL TRIM IN OVER A YEAR
ppl who police other ppl’s identities are so weird...like does it rly affect your life in any absolute way if someone identifies as a fucking plant or somethin else like yeah it sounds ridiculous but if it makes them happy i’ll call them a fucking tree and water the bitch. same with pronouns like if a cis woman prefers he/him pronouns or a grown ass man wants to be referred to by waffle/waffleself or some other shit then whatever bc pronouns are words made up to refer to someone like y’all rly out here being that negative huh. like yeah sometimes the labels seem excessive but sometimes the “generic” labels just don’t fit and they find another “micro” label that’s right. like babes, if y’all wanna identify as a fucking celestial genderfluid lesbian goose than go ahead cause it don’t matter. pronouns and identities are shit that humans made up and some feel more right than others, and that’s okay.
hey plantblr i bought this as a hens and chicks and i have no fucking clue if it rly is so please help a good bitch out and tell me wtf i have
hey does anyone have the photos from a couple years ago at i think narbc with the blown up condom balloons bc i can’t for the life of me find them and it is very important

new tumblr guidelines
regarding the new guidelines prohibiting the upload of content containing the ‘mutliation and torture of (dead animals)’ i will state now that my blog is entirely scientific, and educational. i don’t mutilate anything cuz i’m not a freak, but somebody who thinks vulture culture is cruel might jump on that :P
i never upload graphic or gorey images to shock, offend, or to be edgy and dark. my interest is purely scientific, and at the moment, i use this blog as one of my best and well detailed logging places. removing it would be detrimental to me as logging is required under general licenses AND i need the information i put here.
tl;dr, my content is well within the new guidelines. vulture culture in general is within the new guidelines.
Oh god BIG same
There is no room for mutilation and torture on my blog. All my posts are meant for educational purposes!
Everything I do is for the betterment of scientific knowledge, and preservation for the future generations.
Please Respect Service Dogs
1. Service dogs can be any breed (pure or mixed), any size, shape, gender, color, or coat type. Though Labs, Goldens, Poodles and a mix of these three may be a common sight in service dog work, any breed can be a service dog.
2. Every service dog is trained to perform a specific task. Leading the blind, detecting seizures or severe allergies, to assisting for balance and helping PTSD victims the possibilities in tasks these dogs are trained in are vast. Handlers who have service dogs have a disability (whether visible or not).
3. These dogs are doing a job. You wouldn’t touch someone’s wheelchair or hit a blind person’s cane. Service dogs are no different than medical equipment, they assist the disabled.
4. Please do not touch, pet, talk to, look at, stare at, feed, or even acknowledge a service dog. Completely ignore them. Distracting a service dog can literally mean life or death for someone. Seizure alert dogs can detect a seizure minutes before it happens, giving the handler time to get to a safe place to prevent injury. If a person has a seizure and cracks their head open because you distract that dog, that is on YOU. If a diabetic alert dog (?) fails to detect high/low blood sugar and that person goes into a diabetic coma because you pet that dog that is on YOU. Do not distract a service dog, regardless of how you feel. Dogs are not public property because they are in a public place.
5. Service dogs are not required by law to wear a vest.
6. You are not entitled to touch a dog merely because it is in a grocery store, park, train, bus, or anywhere. Even if the dog is just a pet, ask before you pet. And if there is a patch on the dog that clearly says DO NOT PET then do not pet. It is that simple.
7. Teach your children to ignore service dogs. Time and time again, children of many ages have ignored the vest, patches, and even myself. You have no right to get offended or angry when I tell your child “No.” I do not have to give a reason. I should not have to school your kids on why they cannot touch my dog.
I have barely scratched the surface on the list of disabilities and tasks but that isn’t the point. Handlers are getting sick and tired of ignorant people who think it is okay to mess with our dogs. I should not be afraid to go out in public with my dog because of the people who touch my dog, talk to my dog, call me out, or accuse me of faking my disability.
This has been a PSA.
My service dog, Gus, loves people. It is important that people continue not to pet him while he is working because he will very quickly begin to expect pets from everyone he encounters. His attention is then on everyone else and not on me where it needs to be. He is still young so I expect this to improve but I try really hard to enforce our no petting rule. So if a service dog handler speaks sharply to you if you try and pet their dog without asking, do not be surprised. Many times their dog is their first priority. Not your feelings.
I just have a couple of honest questions if anyone would be so kind to answer.
1. How can anyone know if a dog is a service dog if they don’t wear a vest or harness indicating such? Also why wouldn’t you want your service dog to wear vest? Wouldn’t that stop any questions or situations before they start?
2. Beings they don’t have to wear a vest. What’s to stop any person from taking their dog that isn’t a service dog into any establishment under the false pretenses that it’s a service dog? For example let’s say some John/Jane Doe comes into a pharmacy with their dog and it’s bouncing all around, trying to greet everyone they pass. Can the manager question if that is in fact a service dog, or someone posing as one so they can shop with their dog in the store? I ask that because I’ve personally witness a dog acting just like that in a pharmacy but left before finding out if anyone questioned.
To whom ever takes the time to answer. Thanks :)
@bdasswarrior sometimes a service dog (sd) will work without a vest because it’s too hot outside. sometimes they just wanna give their dog a chance to have a breather. sometimes the handler just doesn’t wanna put a vest on their dog. there’s really no set situation that dictates why and why not someone would choose to work their dog unvested, it’s purely the handler’s decision. honestly, people are going to question you no matter what your dog is wearing. a handler could have big, flashing signs that say “service dog, don’t pet” and “i’m working leave me alone” or whatnot and people would still ask obtrusive questions and still pet the dog.
nothing but common decency is really stopping people from taking their dogs into stores. people will do it no matter what. businesses are allowed to ask two questions in accordance to the ada (americans with disabilities act). one, is this a service dog, and two, what tasks has it been trained to perform. if a person cannot answer these questions, or simply says that their dog is for emotional support (which is not a viable task), then the business can ask them to leave. building off of that as well, if a dog is disrupting the business (barking, approaching customers, making a mess, etc) then the business can ask them to leave too, even if it is a real service dog.

Support responsibility!
This blog supports responsible breeders and plans to breed responsibly someday.
HEY FUCKOS, IVE GOT SOME TEA TO SPILL.
Responsible breeding? I’m sorry but what exactly do you mean to imply by that? Listen, unless that breed is on the brink of extinction, YOU ARE NOT BEING RESPONSIBLE BY BREEDING THEM YOU FUCKING FUCKS.
3,300,000 dogs enter shelters every year and only 1,500,000 get to leave. You already know what happens to the rest. It’s not a goddamn accident that the most bred for dogs are the breeds most often found in shelters, and I don’t just mean pitbulls, you ignorant cheesewagons. I mean Labs. German Shepherds. Golden Retrievers. Chihuahuas. French Bulldogs. Dachshunds. Beagles. THERE ARE AS MANY LABS ON PETFINDER RIGHT NOW AS THERE ARE PITBULLS. And if we know that Pits are bred irresponsibly, what FUCK do you think you ignorant ass backyard breeders are doing? Don’t bother trying to call yourself a “professional” either, considering the devastating impact you’d have on our current shelter situation if you bred often enough to make a living year after year. Heaven forbid what would happen if every owner was allowed the option of keeping their puppy in tact. So let’s be honest, there’s nothing professional about such blatant disregard for overpopulation. You just can’t see beyond your small, personal bubble of “Raising puppies is fun!” It’s a hobby at best.)
Maybe you’re already aware of this, and you’re sitting there with your tidy whities bunched all the way around your ears right at this very second because HOW DARE THE MEAN INTERNET STRANGER TELL ME ANYTHING, OBVIOUSLY I WOULD NEVER CONTRIBUTE TO THIS PROBLEM. I LOVE DOGS. I’M RESPONSIBLE. I don’t care how well you intend to vet potential owners, home checks, check ups, WHAT THE FUCK EVER, the impact of One (1) intact female dog escaping home and breeding as a stray is horrifying. If this dog and all of her offspring were successful for 10 years, having an average number pups per litter, the owner who did not get her fixed would be responsible for bringing over 10,000 new dogs into the world, and for making it someone else’s problem to find a home for them. You don’t blame the dog, you blame the human who allowed it to happen. By the way, during this same time frame, 15,000,000 shelter dogs will have been euthanized.
How about we just not spread fallacy that intentionally breeding dogs is ever a responsible choice to make. At best, you’re stealing a potential home from a dog on death row, and at worst you’re actively adding to the number dogs being sent there. Just because you’re not a puppy mill doesn’t mean you’re doing anyone any favors, other than to yourself. People breed dogs to make a profit, point blank. No one can stop you from doing it, but don’t you dare under operate under the illusion that what you’re doing doesn’t have a negative impact on millions of other lives. Go breed bengal tigers if you want to have a positive impact, but for the love of god, spay and neuter your fucking dogs.
@foxipaw lmao that’s not even tea that’s just being uneducated lmao like my purebred dog from a responsible breeder (read: health tests, intends to better the breed with every litter, has strict ownership rules via legally binding contracts, requires spay/neuter unless fore breeding or show, and has a take back clause for every dog sold if you can’t take care of it anymore) isn’t taking a home from a shelter dog bc guess what? my home was never for that shelter dog. i want a specific dog, a dog that has solid nerves, perfect drive, proven parents and grandparents doing the things i want to do with my dog. the chances of me finding this in a dog at a shelter is slim, whereas if i go to a responsible breeder i am almost sure to get what i want. i want a dog with health records dating back generations to better make sure my dog will be as healthy as possible. shelter dogs don’t have that, they’re a grab bag. if i’m going to spend the next decade with an animal that depends completely on me, then i’m sure as hell going to make sure i set myself up for good things in the long term. i can see that a specific line produces dogs that live healthy, long lives consistently when i go to a breeder. when i go to a shelter and get a dog, i don’t know jack diddly about how long its parents lived, or how long its grandparents lived, or whether or not dogs in its recent ancestry developed hip dysplasia or genetic aggression or thyroid issues. and hun, if i’m spending $2k on a dog, i’m sure as hell not gonna let it run willy nilly. maybe i could go get a dog for $200 at the shelter, and then potentially spend more than quadruple the adoption price in vet bills, but i could also spend the hefty sum for a dog who’s genetically set up to be healthy and spend minimal on vet visits. purebred dogs exist because there was a need for an animal that could perform a certain job, there was a need for predictable traits. shelter dogs exist because of uneducated people owning dogs when they shouldn’t. also, spay/neutering a dog before 18 months of age increases their risk of cancer, hip/elbow dysplasia, acl tears, and thyroid problems. it’s proven that allowing a dog to keep its largest hormone producing organs is healthier for the dog. sorry, but my dog’s still got his balls and he hasn’t ever gotten out and produced oopsie litters ;)
i an the definition of impatience
