It’s been literally ages but i’m coming back to this blog not because i have any taste for tumblr anymore but because I’ve been looking through my blog and am actually so moved by the small bits of resilience and inspiration I wove together for myself. I’m looking back in time and seeing that I didn’t even consider myself an artist prior to a year and a half ago and that’s just amazing to me. My deepest bits are all here, my whole late adolescence. This is the only diary I have ever kept, the only place I knew my words would be sheltered and not stolen or destroyed. So much love for little me, and so much love for now-me.

#brainaesthetics Why is it that when conveying permission to somebody we are well-acquainted to, it’s a common *casual* custom to be like “yeah of course” while crinkling our brows as though upset and nodding quickly/ maintaining a kind tone of voice?

Context: I noticed myself doing this today as my housemate asked me to share my peanut butter, and while I was closing the cupboard, that was my response. The gesture was meant to convey: “this is a silly thing to ask. you, as my friend, are more than welcome to this food”

It seems more formal to smile at somebody sweetly and calmly while granting permission, something you might do to somebody who you are just getting to know as a way of building trust.

As we get to know people better, its customary to show greater depths of our emotional range. too much kindness can present as phoniness.

A moment of furrowed brows when steeped in a kind gesture presents itself as mock anger, which is then counteracted by the sentiment of the overall combined gesture. A moment of fleeting threat accompanied by postive cues such as a happy tone of voice and affirming head nods nullifies any fear that could be derived from the facial expression alone, engendering feelings of security in both parties.
