âNo, thatâs perfect,â she said with a smile, still peeking into the box and knowing sheâd do better to just wait for them to put it down onto a steady table and unpack it together. However, although Tracy had seemingly bottomless, endless patience for those she loved, she could sometimes jump the gun a little when it was something as innocent and personally exciting and right in front of her like this was. âI have some of my muggle ones that I grew up with, and now theyâll have these, too. The best of both worlds.â
âListen, my love, the only broom I had growing up was the one I swept the floors with. My references arenât as reliable as you think.â Despite what she said, though, she spoke it with a wide smile and touched him affectionately on the arm before carrying the stack of books in her arms over to the kitchen table and putting them down.Â
âYou could use some work on walking, too,â she said, smiling over her shoulder at him, all in good nature and all in good fun. âThat sounds fine, though. Heâll love it.â A slight pause, and a wistful sigh: âWe donât have enough of a yard here to fly it around, neighbors aside. Would be nice if that farm of ours was ever unoccupied.âÂ
âMine was great, too,â she said happily, holding a hand out for him to come over to her. âAnd itâs even better now.âÂ
âPrecisely. Best of both worlds. Would be good for them to be able to navigate the muggle side of things if they ever needed it. That way they wonât ever have to embarrass any future spouses when it comes time to ride the tube,â he said with a crooked grin. âSorry, sometimes I forget,â he admitted sheepishly, a hand running through his hair, messing it up, now that heâd place the box down. âI mean, forget that you grew up without all this,â he said as he took out the broom from the box and showed it to her, so she could see. âHarmless, see?â
He gave her a sideways glance, placing the broom on the table as she brought up the farm. âAnd we can use the farm for a nice family getaway when we need it, but you know, why let it sit when weâre not there, right? May as well put it to good use-- itâs not forever, I promise.â He put a hand on her shoulder in what he hoped was a reassuring way, squeezing it affectionately.Â
