Ginny snorted, raising an eyebrow at the other girl. She was able to guess what Bonnie was thinking, because had the shoe been on the other foot, she would have thought the same thing. “Okay, first of all, nobody is going to loot my dead father’s lab,” she said, though she couldn’t help but laugh. “And secondly, I can make all that shit myself. I literally made my own suit based on the Rescue suit he made for my mother.” She flashed a grin. “It’s purple. Color of royalty, you know.” Ginny sighed as Bonnie spoke. “Yeah, I know, right? You rob a few banks, they get so mad.” She had definitely done more than that. “Yep.”

“Whoa, whoa! Who said anything about looting your dead father’s lab. I was just saying he probably has cool stuff! Nothing sinister here.” Bonnie said, raising her hands up. “Besides, I’m no thief anymore. I’m way out of the game. Like years since I’ve taken anything more than a stick of gum and a pen.” She told her. But man... did she ever miss the adrenaline sometimes. At the thought of it, her leg ached as if it were still there. “Sure. Honestly, it’s a great colour choice.” She smiled, “You robbed banks? Why? Aren’t you like...? A Stark? No judgement or anything. Just curious.”

“But I never went down there, bruh.” Ginny lifted her chin as she spoke, raising her eyebrows at Bonnie. “I’ve never been down there,” she said, her voice razor thin. “I don’t go down into my dad’s workshop, I don’t know why people keep asking me that.” She glanced over at her, forcing a smirk onto her lips and rolling her eyes. “I had my own,” she said. “Before the U.S. government confiscated everything because I kept breaking the law, and apparently they have a bee in their bonnet about that. Go figure, huh?”

“Never?” Bonnie asked, “That kinda sucks. I bet he had some seriously cool stuff.” She said. Her mind going immediately to how she would have loved to get her hands on Tony Stark’s inventions before immediately kicking herself internally. Bonnie, girl. We don’t fantasize about stealing from the dead anymore. “What assholes. I mean- I’m law abiding myself now a days, but still. Assholes for that one. You’re good with machinery, right?”

One wouldn’t think that “running away from home” entailed heading to a school to discover her true self. It wasn’t that Shiori hated her mother; there were just too many secrets, unspoken words, and shadows surrounding her for their relationship to come close to being authentic. She hefted the backpack higher on her shoulder and stared down at the map she’d been given to sort out. Dorm rooms… she wondered what kind of person she was going to end up with for her first year at this place… She jolted when she collided with someone, losing her map in the process and forgetting that she should be paying attention to her surroundings. “Sorry about that. These corridors are confusing, to say the least… Are you alright?”

Bonnie gasped at the feeling of her cold drink splashing against her school uniform. She took a moment, closing her eyes. Her lips tightening into a forced smile before sighing away her brief frustration. This day was not to a good start. First, Amante didn’t realize she was trying to flirt this morning and now- as she was running late to class. She bumped into a new student. “It’s fine. I’m pretty water resilient, actually.” She said finally. “And remarkably forgiving.”

Amante was still half asleep as he heard the cheery voice of his roommate. He gave her a little half salute when suddenly she was in front of him. For a moment he thought she was going to kiss him, but that must have just been his sleep laced brain. He chuckled when she kissed his nose. “What was that for?” he asked, ruffling her hair some as he continued his trek to the kitchen. “Hardly. Alex made me stay late at some party.” he yawned again. “I’m exhuasted…..where do we keep the coffee?” He usually waited until the campus café opened up but he was gonna need an extra dose of Java if he was going to survive this day. “what about you bonbon?”

“Oh, you know. You just have a cute-” He ruffled her hair and she shrunk down a little. Her nose scrunching up as he walked past her. “Okay.” Bonnie frowned to herself. This wasn’t at all how she wanted this morning to go. Here he was, acting like she was some kid sister. She tried not to make her frustration obvious and gave him one of her wide, bright smiles. “The first drawer on the left.” She said, gesturing to it before shrugging her shoulders. “Fine. I guess. You ever have those recurring dreams where you build up all your courage and ask your crush out... only for him to completely turn you down? And then you realize you’re in your underwear in the front of class?”

“Good morning.” Bonnie said to her friend the moment he walked into their living space. She felt herself smile the moment she saw him. Knowing that he probably didn’t feel the same way, she walked up to shoot her shot anyway. Leaning up to Amanté so the two of them were only a breath apart. She glanced down towards his lips. Feeling her stomach churn with nerves. The last second, she placed a kiss on the tip of his nose instead before pulling away and smiling at him. “Sleep well?”

“There is nothing wrong with letting the people who love you help you. “ Amante said to Bonnie as he watched her struggle with the new addition to her leg. “For shits sake Bon.” he said moving closer and swatting her hands away. He moved quickly, making sure to only touch her as needed. “Alright there. Go ahead.” he said gesturing for her to stand. “How’s it feel?”

“You love me, Amante?” Bonnie teased, a smile appearing on her lips as he moved towards her. He worked quickly. Far quicker than she ever had and she made most of it herself. She couldn’t help but admire it. Then again, he’d always had more experience with this sort of thing than she had. Bonnie just wanted to learn it all herself. “I would have figured it out, you know?” She told him stubbornly before pulling herself to her feet. Keeping one hand on the wall behind the bench until she was sure it was fine to let go. “Much better. No more pinching. Thank God. It was bugging me all day.”

“Could you sound more uninterested in what I have to say?” Bonnie sighed, “I’m trying to tell you that you don’t have to get hurt like I did to change. You could just take the CRP program a little more seriously.” Her sister drove her a little crazy sometimes. How could she not see how dangerous it was to go down the path she was going down?

“You know... it’s never too late to change. You don’t have to be a monster if it hurts to be one, ‘Tina.” She finally said after a long moment. They were friends once. Even if it had been for a short while and Bonnie was beyond aware of how cruel the rogues (like Valentina) could be. She also knew that they had potential to be so much more. She shot her old friend a small smile, hoping there was something in her that longed for change and she wasn’t just making a fool out of her.
