This 'Faoi Gheasa' episode is the first of in focus 2 hour specials of Lowlands / Ísealchríoch. 'Faoi Gheasa' translates to enchanted, bewitched or spellbound.
70 years ago Kitty Gallagher was recorded by Alan Lomax during his journey through Ireland. The recordings of her voice will come to influence musicians such as Clannad and Altan.
The two hour special will map out her music, stories, the Irish language and music from her contemporaries.
As a celebration of the singing session tradition, four musicians have been invited to do new interpretations of Kitty Gallagher's songs for the show.
