“Look At Me”
Using Occlumency to calm a panicked 11 year old
The Lilo and Stitch AU makes so much sense now: Draco (Lilo) stumbles upon the chaos gremlin Hermione (Stitch) who he grows an attachment to, and is faced the risk of her being taken away by the Ministry (the alien government). In the absence of a strong Nani counterpart, I have reluctantly cast Snape in the role.
Hermione wanting to belong:
Draco kept at Durmstrang but inexplicably latching onto her:
Draco and Hermione squabbling in Snape’s sitting room:
Draco trying to make Hermione control her powers:
Bonus: Draco (probably) when he finds out about Cormac:

Someone brought up the question of why the Marauders might have opted to distort “Severus” into “Snivellus”, so I just decided to look up the definition and these were the first that popped up:
: to run at the nose.
: to snuff mucus up the nose audibly : snuffle.
: to cry or whine with snuffling.
: to speak or act in a whining, sniffling, tearful, or weakly emotional manner.
In summary; it seems that “to snivel” means “to cry so hard one runs at the nose”.
That is so sad. To me this implies that they bullied Severus so cruelly that he sobbed uncontrollably, and then they gave him a nickname over it. Perhaps he cried on the Hogwarts express after what James and Sirius said to him or when they tried to trip him. Either way it’s heartbreaking to me that he endured this insult of vulnerability all his life. Like “hahaha you cried so hard your nose is running” how sad. How freaking sad.

Bind of pride and prejudice.
Typesets by me. Design by me via canva.
Interesting to learn that pride and prejudice was initially published as a 3 volume set and the cost was equal to about a week salary for the average worker at the time 😳
Gotta remember to be so thankful for libraries, kindle unlimited, etc.
