Raccoonmilf Q&A
Are raccoons becoming domesticated/Have you heard about the raccoon domestication study?
Raccoons are not becoming domesticated and that study is BS. You can find a text explanation here and a video explanation here.
What is the link to your raccoon wishlist?
The link is right here!
Are you the original dashcon creator?
Yes. I was 15 when I started the original blog (TumblCon USA) and was 17 by the time the con actually happened. I was not on any contracts due to being a minor and had nothing to do with the financial decisions.
What was up with the ballpit?
I’ve always loved ballpits. They are great enrichment for people and animals alike. I watched a viral video about “strangers meeting each other in a ballpit for the first time” ok YouTube and was like “hell yeah, I want one of those.” Obviously the Dashcon ballpit was not supposed to look like that™️
Did anyone actually pee or give birth in the Dashcon ballpit?
No on both accounts.
Do you have any YouTube videos on Dashcon you would recommend?
@strange-aeons has a really good one and I have one on my own on my YouTube
Is “raccoon biologist” your job?
No. It is my current research field. My job is costume designer, it pays far more than working in conservation, sadly.
Are you a wildlife rehabber?
No. I am a biologist who specializes in raccoons. Rehabbers and I have a different skillset.
What are you currently researching?
Tourism’s impact on the critically endangered pygmy raccoon (Procyon pygmaeus) of Cozumel; social media’s impact on raccoon welfare; social proof and social marketing in relation to wildlife interactions; tourism and wildlife conservation in general; tourism’s impact on insular ecology
How does someone become a raccoon biologist?
Go to grad school and make a conscious decision and effort to research raccoon biology
Do you believe raccoons should be pets?
No. And there is no real ethical way to get a “pet” raccoon. However, I don’t see an issue with actual professionals having non-releasable animals in their homes as long as they are still treated like actual raccoons, not just “pets.”
What’s your deal with rabies?
I work with rabies vector species, which are highly stigmatized. In order to educate the public further on these species, I became a certified rabies educator. As it turns out, rabies is a hella cool topic that I really enjoy learning about and speaking about.
What species do you work with?
Directly: Raccoons (both common and pygmy), foxes (red, arctic, hybrid, fennec, pale), bobcats, servals, mink, coyotes, wolf dogs, opossums, several species of coral on occasion
Indirectly: Yucatán black howler monkeys
Do you still work at the animal sanctuary?
No, I quit being the assistant director in June to focus more on my research. However, the director is still my bestie and I do still do volunteer biology work. But I’m essentially her eunuch advisor (complementary) at the point.
Why is your username “raccoonmilf?”
Because I gave physical birth to my own raccoon daughter (moonshine) and I’ve got big boobs.
Can I find you anywhere else on social media?
My TikTok is Lochnessofficial
