Read Chapter 11, October: I Forget All That I've Been Taught (10k)
Summary: Baz learns, and tells, some big truths.
Or start at the beginning:
Basil Pitch's Diary
T, 56k, 11/14.
Summary: Baz is determined that 2015 will be his year. His year to break free from his vampirism, his father's expectations, and most of all, his feelings for Simon Snow.
Favorite thing about renaissance faires is that they have fuck all to to with the renaissance. This thang is not about historical anything this is about dressing up like a fairy and watching a joust
OK BUT re: Shane and Ilya meeting halfway, @bookish-bogwitch already figured out that the Wayside Restaurant is about halfway between Boston and Montreal. We recently ate there together and tried to come up with a fic. It’s mostly just Ilya ordering perch (this is one of the few places you can still do that, and the only place that’s not super fancy). I think Ilya would actually be an expert at eating fish off the bones, something Shane would not expect to find attractive but obviously does. Mostly we just liked the idea of them eating at this salt of the earth diner in Vermont where either the locals have clocked them and they fully do not care, or they just do not care, full stop.
Also the Wayside flooded back in 2023 so in this AU I could very much see Shane and/or Ilya donating to help restore it because they’ve become super fond of this no frills diner where they play footsie under the table and break their meal plans. (Shane learned on visit one there’s no use in ordering anything that feels like it’s been added to the menu in the last ten years.) I think if I were going to write this, that’d be the angle I took. Outsider POV of a journalist finding out that Shane and/or Ilya donated all this money to some random diner and trying to figure out why.
thats so interesting!! I would definitely read something like this for sure. I love the idea of them having a little diner where they could be themselves 🥺
Tonight I was thinking about the time Simon Snow fans convened in Omaha during the worst week of summer ... That must have been so awful. If you guys ever do that again, you should come back in October. Nebraska is great in October. If Wayward Son had been set during October, it would have been an entirely different book.
I wanted to finish the drawing I had started in honour of the most introspective and handsome vampire character ever created, the most profound and complex I have ever read about, and the character I have identified with most throughout my life (and there have been many, many obsessions over the last 16 years). I didn't colour it in, but I have exams coming up, so I don't have much time.
Anyway, I'll post it soon.
Happy birthday to me and to this wonderful character, created by Rainbow Rowell.
Here is a companion piece to Simon's birthday post because sometimes, love is as simple as holding your pee for four hours.
Real talk though, Simon helping Baz out of his jacket melts my heart every time. Simon probably couldn't care less about Baz's clothes (or clothes in general). I might be wrong but I imagine, if it were him, he'd just ripped them off and be done but "I know he won't want it ruined" so he takes the time to - carefully - help him out of his jacket and then he unbuttons his shirt, one annoyingly tiny button at a time, because he knows that even if Baz isn't in a state to care about it now, he will care later. This, to me, is the epitome of love and devotion. No "I love you" needed.
And I would be remiss if I didn't also wish the happiest of birthdays to @rainbowrowell without whom none of us would be here. Thank you for the laughter and the tears and for celebrating love in all its beautiful and complex forms. Your books are a gift to mankind. I can't wait for Cherry Baby!
I wanted to do my own take on the cheesecake Baz eats in Wayward Son. I originally thought it was made up since it's just called Extreme, but much to my surprise, it's real! It's the Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake
Opened Twisted Wonderland today and it informed me that today is the birthday of one of the characters — which made me realize there’s a far more important fictional character to be celebrating today! So this is inspired by the Cozy Clothes birthday showcase in that game~
For his 29th birthday, Baz is spending some quality time with Simon, who is---obviously---spoiling Baz rotten. May all his birthdays be defined by the most domestic of fluff.
And happy birthday to @rainbowrowell. There are no words to describe how much we all love this dramatic little vampire. Thank you for sharing him with us! May your birthday also be full of domestic fluff!
For this year’s CO server valentine exchange I made Watford pennant flags! I’ve been wanting to make them for a while and I’m super happy with how they came out! Here’s some process photos!
I once again participated in the Carry On Discord Valentine Exchange. Last year, I sent out Baz, so this year was Simon's turn.
Fun facts:
Every sequin is individually handsewn.
A pipe cleaner in his tail makes it pose-able.
He's also a brooch! (Because who doesn't want this adorable little peach on their lapel?)
I mass produced each of his components one at a time, but the wings were the biggest pain (for reasons that should be obvious). Here are some in-progress pics of my work station. Pictures do not do the sparkle justice!
Now everyone please cross your fingers and cast a little "safe and sound!" so each of these will arrive in one piece to their new home!
Thanks for the tag @thewholelemon! Your valentine last year was one of my favorites and this is a good reminder that I have so much SnowBaz art to frame for my SnowBaz shrine!
STITCHES
Almost all of my recent stitches were devoted to my valentines, not pictured but linked here so anyone who hasn't received them yet can remain spoiler free!
I also posted my EGF art yesterday, which is so sparkly and must live below the cut because it's also sexy! Working with sequins is never fun, and I always forget how tedious it is until I tackle a sequin project and immediately regret all my life choices.
In any case, here are some in progress photos for EGF. Below you can see my pattern pieces where I am attempting to figure out the pose. You can also see the wings before being fully sequined. They have pipe cleaners in them, just like the tail, so both are fully pose-able.
Even if I sew the bodies correctly according to my pattern, it takes some work to attach the limbs. Below, I pinned Simon's arms and wings without the head to determine the best angles for everything.
Also, if you haven't checked out the post yet, you should. I am raffling off these dolls and you can enter by reblogging the original post. (Linked here AGAIN if you don't want to scroll up.) I really want to spread the monbons doll love, and if this goes well, I will keep giving dolls away this way. If there isn't much interest, I suppose my same betas/friends can keep building up their stash 😂. But also, who doesn't love a little felt smut?
SENTENCES
All my sentences have been devoted to my OCs, but @thewholelemon and I posted a fun fic called Knit Wits for @rimeswithpurple's birthday earlier this month that you should check out if you haven't yet. It's silly and fun and so, so cozy.
Until next time, I hope everyone has a little sparkle in their life, no matter what form it takes ✨✨✨
