Potato Candy from 1933
Hi, guys!
As you may know, I am Ukrainian. I live in Kyiv. I have lived here since I was born and I love my country with my whole heart.
I see a lot of misinformation under the tag "Ukraine". Most of it comes from American people, who try to explain the conflict in their own words. They can't. It's impossible to explain if you haven't lived here. There are too many influences on this conflict. You keep looking from an american perspective, which is not crucial in understanding the conflict.
For example, have you ever had you language forbidden? Like straight up forbidden by the law? It happened to Ukrainian language a lot of times thought our history. And who did it? The Russian Empire. And it's not the end of it. The genocides, the assimilation, the deportation. Have you even researched Ukrainian history?
You do not uplift Ukrainian voices enough. And you should if you care about what's happening. If you donât do it, you're just doing a performance of your support and activism.
Lucky for you, I am a Ukrainian person! And I am DYING TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. I scored 191/200 points on my graduation exam in history, so you can suppose I know something about Ukrainian history.
If you stand for Ukraine, uplift Ukrainian voices. Educate yourself. Learn Ukrainian history. Ask Ukrainian people
Hate to be that person, but WW3 trend on TikTok is not funny at all, especially your stupid POVs. Because no, Jessica from Chicago, you wonât have to hide in the basement to avoid being nuked and no, Kyle from LA, you wonât get drafted to the front lines.Â
You again missed the whole point and managed to make this situation all about yourself, so Iâm going to assure your stupid ass - this war is not going to affect you in any way, but you know who itâs going to affect? Actual people from Ukraine, who are going to lose their lives and be displaced from their homes, just like for the past 8 years.Â
So congratulations on your stupidity, because itâs not about âI need a way to cope đ„șđ„șđ„șâ, itâs about you celebrating and making fun of other peopleâs death.
Sorry to be an ugly fun-killer but in light of the recent Invasion I urge you all to be mindful of the things you reblog and the memes that you repost. Please remember that behind every "world war 3 lmao" post there is a reality where real people are going to be displaced from their homes and are going to lose their lives.
Before you laugh at that tweet that talks about the draft or whatever ask yourself: are you laughing because it's funny? or are you laughing because you're safe and comfortable in the West and it's not a direct problem for you?
My 4th semester started a couple weeks back. Another online semester because our college is desperate to be vague about when we can go to campus. It sucks when your college is in a completely different state. Online classes are going good but my mental and physical health isn't. The weather isn't helping, all dull and gloomy and dark. Books are the only thing keeping me sane. I fear that I have become so habituated to online classes that my brain has forgotten what physical, F2F classes look and feel like. I find no motivation to leave the house and I fear this is how my body will adjust itself from now on.
Growing up fat, you get made fun of for everything you do, even basic shit like eating and laughing and breathing are funny when you do it because youre fat! And its so hard to not carry that with you as you get older, like Iâm still embarassed to eat or dance in front of people or smile in pictures and its ridiculous and I hate it and I wish I was treated with more humanity
Thin people can reblog this btw
they wont tho lmao
Reblog to put a pedophile in the wood chipper where he belongs.

@canned-goods That's all "queer theory" has ever been.

Foucault was worthless trash even before this. His literary criticism is awful, his leftist politics were inconsistent and uncommitted, and his absolutely insane opinions about sexuality have done far more harm than good for the LGBT community.
He also signed a petition to lower the age of consent and decriminalize relations between adults and children under 15. Jacques Derrida, Simone de Beauvoir (who basically groomed her female students for her partner Sartre), Alain Robbe-Grillet, Jean Paul Sartre, and Roland Barthes were among the public figures who signed.
Every hour of everyday I have like 40 conflicting epiphanies then by the end of the day I feel & know nothing and am back at square one.
we gon fuck up a few times before we get it right its life
the daria writers really did that
Call me by your name
THATâS THE POINT THOUGH.
Theyâre children. Theyâre literally students sitting in class. Theyâre 14, maybe 15 years old (I canât remember which season specifically this is from).
Thatâs what grooming is. An adult, who is fully aware of what theyâre doing, taking advantage of a teenager or a child and manipulating them or brainwashing them because theyâre too young to actually understand whatâs happening.
Tiffany thinks heâs talking about gardening. And even when Quinn is relating and thinking back on the story, she still doesnât really understand what was going on. It wasnât until her older sister and mom could process the scene through their adult brains that consequences were had.
It shouldnât be the responsibility of children to recognize when theyâre being groomed/gaslit/manipulated/etc.
This.
Couple things that come up in the notes bc I donât think anyone has casually watched Daria in like 20 years:
- âWoah, Daria picks up on it faster than her mom!â her mom is an obsessive workaholic who still loves her family, and the main point of her character is to acknowledge that and grow into a better mom. If you watch, youâll notice that Daria and her mom both react to the same information (the hair stroking), its just that their mom is processing Quinnâs rambling in chunks, and Daria is listening to it all
(itâs also a good example of the whole âkids canât understand that level of dangerous behavior yetâ message, bc Quinnâs recounting of the grooming is so casual it slips in perfectly to her normal tone ie: makes it harder for her mom to notice it at first. And since Quinn doesnât know thereâs a problem, she doesnât go out of her way to get her momâs attention.)
- âYou know itâs a cartoon bc in real life the school would protect the perv!â Actually, this moment happens near the beginning of the episode, and what follows is that Daria is encouraged forced to become her sisterâs teacher instead, in direct retaliation over having to fire the perv Edwards. Itâs pretty much implied that the principal wouldnât have fired the guy if it hadnât been for Dariaâs momâs phone call, so yeah, thatâs actually pretty in line too
(See, Dariaâs mom is a high powered lawyer, and has already read the principal the riot act for targeting and threatening Daria in the past, so the principal is NOT a fan of their family but she is scared of her mama lol)

Internet Throttling (Bandwidth Throttling)
Internet throttling is when is when your internet service provider (ISP) slows down your internet on purpose.Â
Providers can legally throttle your Internet speeds to reduce congestion during peak hours or in densely populated cities, but itâs illegal for companies limit their customersâ Internet speeds in a âdeceptive or unfairâ fashion. Which they do. Often. Constantly. All the time, actually. For, evidently, âno clear reasonâ as they tend to throttle traffic even when the network is not congested.Â
Governments have been found encouraging internet providers to throttle internet in order to censor or limit people. Like in Russia.Â
This is why Net Neutrality was such a big f-ing deal. It required internet service providers to offer equal access to all web content.
Ever since net-neutrality was repealed, internet providers have been found to be discriminately slowing and interfering with peopleâs internet connections, but there has been no prosecution.Â
In the US, President Biden wants to restore Net Neutrality. The only possible PROBLEM with that is the current FCC can, will, and wants to come up with new net neutrality rules. So net neutrality might never be what it once was.
If anything, this is a war for who gets to police the internet, broadband companies or governments.Â
Weâre in the evil timeline.

I hate how a lot of cultural appropriation discourse has forgotten the reason why it started appearing. It wasnât meant to punish white people for being ignorant and ban them from partaking in other cultures.
It was a discussion meant to draw attention that people of colour were constantly being overlooked or punished for the exact same things that white people were celebrated for. It was meant to elevate people of colour to an understanding and respect that white people had been afforded for years, often unearned.
So seeing people go âwhite people donât partake in anything that isnât whiteâ misses a lot of nuance in the discussion, because a lot of different cultures ARE willing to share and allow people into their culture on their own terms and in a respectful matter.
Thereâs a massive difference between a white person going âI just invented the BEST version of thisâ where everything had been watered down and stripped away versus one going âI try out this thing to appreciate cultures and viewpoints that arenât my ownâ.
As a first generation Asian Australian whose own cultural identity is a massive clusterfuck I do think we need to remember that cultural exchange and sharing is incredibly important for an ever changing and global culture.
