A LITTLE LIFE - HANYA YANAGIHARA
A heartbreaking read. Friends in New York surviving to make their dreams come true - this truly is a heart-wrenching chunk of pages. Friendship, unconditional love to protect unbreakable bonds of brotherhood, love and kindred. Hanya outlined Jude's experiences extremely well for those who relate to abuse and the damages that life can inflict on you. Hanya's writing is transparent, graphically gripping that left a scar in the reader's soul.
Every page threatened my lids with tears, unsure of what I was reading halfway through a page as my sight becomes blurrier from tears forming in my eyes. As it's very realistic in today's world, I have empathized with the characters especially, Jude. I've developed the sense to protect him, put some sense into him although his actions are recklessly not his fault. Like his friends, the readers will develop the urge to protect this character as well as understand those that loves him.
Definitely not for the faint hearted readers.
