It all matters. That someone turns out the lamp, picks up the windblown wrapper, says hello to the invalid, pays at the unattended lot, listens to the repeated tale, folds the abandoned laundry, plays the game fairly, tells the story honestly, acknowledges help, gives credit, says good night, resists temptation, wipes the counter, waits at the yellow, makes the bed, tips the maid, remembers the illness, congratulates the victor, accepts the consequences, takes a stand, steps up, offers a hand, goes first, goes last, chooses the small portion, teaches the child, tends to the dying, comforts the grieving, removes the splinter, wipes the tear, directs the lost, touches the lonely, is the whole thing. What is most beautiful is least acknowledged. What is worth dying for is barely noticed.

“Just one more chapter” i say, knowing damn well i should’ve slept when i said the same thing 5 chapters ago
Sometimes the TV show and the movie aren't enough, and you miss the world and characters of Firefly. Thankfully there are comics and now books! All the Firefly, all the time, in all the ways.
Eowyn of Rohan by Filat
We picked our books for next year's book club and decided to head to Barnes & Noble to see which books were available. I actually have about half the books already, so I only got Red Rising. Aaaand then I grabbed a couple other books. I'd forgotten the Firefly book was supposed to come out so I was really excited about that. And I grabbed a couple of the Mercy Thompson books since they're pretty cheap. Excited to read all the things.
Lord of the Rings is the rare case where the book is a musical and the movie isn’t
If you haven’t stayed up until the early hours of the morning reading with your eyes itching and burning with tiredness and your vision blurred as you fight to stay awake to finish the book, you haven’t lived at all

Do you have any Christmasy books raccomandations ?
Hey, thanks for the great question! I love Christmas time and Christmas music and Christmas movies. But your question led me to the realization that I don’t really read Christmas books. I’m actually kind of ashamed to realize this. However! I did some research and I’ve got a few recommendations for you!
Wintery books: (all three are retellings of “East of the Sun and West of the Moon”, a fantastic fairy tale)
East by Edith Pattou
Ice by Sarah Beth Durst
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George
Christmasy books:
Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien
Skipping Christmas by John Grisham (inspiration for the movie Christmas with the Kranks)
The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann (what inspired the Nutcracker ballet)
Sort of Christmasy, sort of not:
An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott (I prefer this over Little Women; there’s a Christmas scene but it’s also very family oriented and sweet)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (not only is there neverending winter but Father Christmas shows up to deliver presents)
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling (the books take place during the school year, so Christmas break is featured, more prominent in some books than others)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (my sister added this, saying it has one of her favorite Christmas scenes ever)
Holiday reads:
Anna and the Apocalypse by Katharine Turner (Christmas and zombies; also going to be a movie, a musical even!, that looks either really bad or good-bad)
Love and Other Train Wrecks by Leah Konen (takes place during a snowstorm)
The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan (sounds like a Hallmark movie but set in Scotland)
Picture books:
Anything by Jan Brett, especially The Mitten and The Hat
Brave Irene by William Steig
I haven’t read any of the Christmasy books or holiday reads I’ve listed here. Really I haven’t read a lot of Christmas books. But I definitely want to now! I hope you enjoy these recommendations, and if anyone has any other books to recommend I’d love to hear them!
Me: “I’ve got nothing to read!”
my unread books: “Um, hello?!”
Me: “Nah not you.”
my unread books:
Life is short. Eat the cake. Buy the book. Wear a long sweeping cloak and storm dramatically into the sunset to destroy your enemies.
Books vs Friends
Me: *sitting in a corner of the library of my college reading*
Friends: *coming towards me*
Friends: we’ve been looking all over for you
Me: *looking up from my book* uggghhhh go away I have to finish this book. I have just 30 pages left.
Friends: *fed up* fine we’ll meet you in the cafe in half an hour.
Me: *returning to book*
***TWO HOURS LATER***
Friends: *stomping towards me*
Me: *looking up from the previous book’s sequel* I’m not even sorry.
I know i look cute, but i’d look even cuter with 5 new books in my hands, i’m just saying
