5sos have 3 major pr companies, and imma list them 👇🏻
1. Modest! Management2. Wonder Management3. DawBell Management
So let’s start with the boys basic contract. They signed a co-Management contract with Modest! And Wonder was involved. When they first signed their deals, they just wanted to get a real record deal. So they basically signed over full publicity control to Modest!. At this same time, all the members of 1D have part ownership of 5sos (5sos make money, they make money)(idk if zany had to sign out of that Too so it might just be the remaining 4 who have stock)
This is when DawBell and Wonder really come in. Modest! Was and still is the alpha, of you will. They do exactly what they did with 1D, anything to get attention, and the boys signed their souls to the devil on that one, bc their contract is wrapped tightly with a bow on top when it comes to pr. However, Wonder Management, An Australian based company, we’re part of the co-Management contract. While Modest! Was taking full responsibility for the boys in the public eye, Wonder was out doing the scut work. Figuring out a pr plan, finding people for the boys to be seen with, and of course touring with 1D.
For ages, they tried to get the boys around celebs, great examples are Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner… who if y’all can recall, were in pr relationships with Harry for a time… and he also couldn’t do anything about it.
Yet no one was really sticking and the boys had an idea of starting their own Independent record label. Of course Modest!, DawBell, Wonder, and Capitol didn’t like that. So, the boys created a sub-label, a label that operates under the rule of another label, which here is Capitol to Hi or Hey.
Here’s a twist y’all don’t see. 5sos were not specifically looking toward signing a female band like they say, they wanted a good band. Modest! Knew if the boys signed a band, according to there tight contract, that band would be signed to them as well. So Modest! As well as Wonder pushed for a female fronted band for a very obvious reason. They wanted to play them like they did little mix and 1D (Perrie and Zayn fambam).
So 5sos sign HV. 3 girls and 1 guy. So Modest! Wasn’t trying to push the gay image on any of the boys, which would be objectifying a sexuality and that’s majorly screwed up, so Casey was out. Rena was way to young to be paired with a boy, so that was out. Miranda was far from a fan favorite, and pretty much knew there would be like no positive clout for the band from her… at all… so she was out. Leaving Nia. In the age group, willing to do anything for fame including dump her bae. Yeah, cold hearted am I right? But she was going to have to do it regardless, bc ya know… Modest!. Now it was time to find a boy to place her with for that good clout. So:
👉🏻Ashton was already with Bryana and was involved in pr with her, HOWEVER they were already dating and into each other when DawBell wanted to do pr… mostly so ash would look like this god amongst dudes for being with this beautiful lingerie model… however as y’all know the contract was like 6 months (don’t quote me on that) and their relationship started breaking down. She wanted to be done, but ash was still her friend and he like… did not want it to be done…. so they tried but ultimately when the contract ended at the end of the year, she ended the relationship for good…. but anyway that meant Ash was out.👉🏻Luke was out because he was already with Arz, and was mad into her, AND she had totally gone public with their relationship so Modest! Would look like a major dumbass for starting pr amid a public relationship. Arz did do pr deals, and so did Luke for a time, but that wasn’t for modest! That was independent product placement. So Luke was out.👉🏻Michael had already agreed to strike up a contract with Crystal that involved Wonder AND DawBell (why do ya this she suddenly enjoyed/wanted to pop up in Australia… meetings as she is in charge there) mostly to have her own company, that she was trying to start, could work with those 2 management companies. And she wanted to be able to do constant brand deals with someone who had an actual fan base so she could make some legitimate money while gaining clout. So Mike was out bc they actually wanted him with Crystal. I know. I dislike it. I don’t think there’s real feeling there now… but ya know no one listens to me.👉🏻and then there is Calum. The single player who’s nudes leaking gave off a positive outcome. Even Management was shocked at that. So they figured him being around or being “romantically linked too” Nia would be not only their only option, but their only choice. Cal agreed under the circumstances that if he did not, the band wouldn’t get the hype they wanted… and that’s what DawBell and Modest! Agreed on. If they didn’t pull off a stunt like this, the band’s sales wouldn’t go up at all. And tbh since their pr started (beginning of 2016 aka Bali) HV sales have gone up, but not like they wanted… and here we are, dealing with nalum bullshit.
You guys also have to remember that pr gets a lot worse. Zayn and Perrie got engaged, and as soon as he ditched Modest! He was out. SOOOO Modest! Wanted to paint him as the villain, and she was fine with that bc she was getting paid and it was more clout than ever. And tbh Zayn went about things rudely for a while there so I can’t blame the girls for agreeing.
Tbh my worry is that they’ll pull shit on the boys like they did with Zayn and that would be catastrophic to the young fans who have no idea what PR is. Remember, there are even celeb marriages, so we don’t have it to bad atm 👀
But yeah, that’s what I know about their contracts. Or at the very least, is a rough outline about what’s going on with the boys.
