I'd love to see more desperate cuddles. Like, the moment when the touch-starved, puts up all their walls and won't let anyone in character finally lets the dam break and is clinging to the other character. Frantically feeling around, holding them as tight as possible, and holding back noises. Not in a freaky way, but in this way that they haven't had any real human connection in so long that they have to let out what they've been keeping bottled up
I agree with the “people write dark fic to cope with their trauma” as much as anyone else but it’s an unnecessary justification that pro-censors don’t believe anyway.
100% engage with fic if that’s your path to healing, but it’s not a requirement for such stories to exist and if you write it for funsies, so what? You don’t need a dark and tragic backstory as some fanfic resume. I walked into a series of super fucked up fanfics not knowing exactly what I was getting into but the tags were warning enough. And I stayed reading in utter fascination at how the author’s mind worked. It was like staring the Dali painting “Apparition of a Face and Fruit Dish” and seeing more and more macabre figures in the background the longer you looked.
I don’t remember what it was called or who wrote it or how to even find it. Something something “art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable”
You don’t need to give me excuses for why you wrote what you wrote, I’ve already bought a ticket and popcorn. That you chose to make it exist is justification enough.
